Hi sifus here,

I'm planning to get either Y480 or Y580 + make it 8GB ram + swap the HDD for SSD

which would you guys suggest?

Is it more worth it to go Y580 than Y480? (differences i could see are 15.6" FHD vs 14" HD, GTX660 vs GT650 and keyboard)

Which SSD to go for, cheap and good performing?

I'm planning to get from this seller : -

My story?

I got my mSata from Storm88, really great guy who send the mSata to my office coz when i got my Y480 from him,he got no stock dy.

just plugged in... stuck my pendrive in (my Win7 installer is in pendrive). then format both drives and just direct install into the mSata

when mSata is plugged in it is already Disk0 so... i think that's why Windows created system partition there pandai pandai la.

Harddisk write speed in WEI shows 7.9... sadly, i dunno why graphics was 7.1 before reinstall into msata, now shows 6.9 only.

I will try the benchmark later and post it up, cause in office now. Though the machine still with me la, don't want too obvious lazing around.

So basically does it meant that the MSATA will be able to access and format during installing windows?

And the bios locked thingy is just an untrue rumor?
*
i'm not sure bout the rumor.

I can see my mSata listed as 'Internal HDD:XXXXSSDXXX' under my boot selection then it is also there when i need to choose a drive to install Windows on.

hi guys, I would like to know is there is a 7200RPM hard drive for the lenovo Y580? what is the price for it?
*
Try asking some of the sellers in garage sales. Some of them do offer swapping in 7200rpm harddisk or SSD

Lenovo stock unit does not come with 7200 rpm hdd

Where can I get a Y480 without Windows 7 in KL/PJ?

How much does it cost?

Thanks
*
You could get one from Storm88.

I got mine from him, and he's selling cheaper than RRP.
