QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Sep 7 2012, 04:26 PM) just got my y580.i wana ask what should i do 1st for now? 1st thing you should do is to make factory recovery disc using one-key recoveryAnything that i should uninstall/install? any drivers to update? as for stuff to uninstall, i uninstall some lenovo stuff, like powerdvd... make sure you don't uninstall energy management and one-key recovery i also uninstalled chrome, mcafee & office 2010 starter, replacing them with mse & office 2013 preview try to update both intel hd and nvidia driver, windows update should take care of intel hd and as for nvidia, we prefer to use latest beta driver compared to stock driver Added on September 7, 2012, 4:40 pmkinda lucky that lenovo didn't fill in many bloatware like asus This post has been edited by kuroneko0509: Sep 7 2012, 04:40 PM |

QUOTE(alex_angelus @ Sep 8 2012, 08:33 PM) So there wont be any problem with 4gb corsair vengence 1600 MHZ and the stock 4 gb ram 1600 MHZ? If there won't be any compatibility issues then i wont change. 4gb corsair vengence and the stock 4gb ram has different latency..... not sure there'll be compatibility issues (dun know much bout ram latency) but as long as you stick to that combination, iinm it is just same as you using 2x stock ram This post has been edited by kuroneko0509: Sep 8 2012, 08:37 PM |

QUOTE(MPIK @ Sep 9 2012, 08:50 AM) But i do not wish to switch GPU, I want to force Nvidia to play any games even Solitare.. LOL, otherwise, i think its a waste to have a laptop with powerful 660GTX then, just customize your nvidia control panel to force running program using nvidia gfx.... or just right click on that program and choose run with graphics processor -> nvidiathe purpose of optimus is to save battery when normal usage (internet surfing etc) |

QUOTE(imwhoiam @ Sep 10 2012, 05:07 PM) Hi sifus here, depends on whether you want a larger screen or not... want a lighter laptop to carry around I'm planning to get either Y480 or Y580 + make it 8GB ram + swap the HDD for SSD which would you guys suggest? Is it more worth it to go Y580 than Y480? (differences i could see are 15.6" FHD vs 14" HD, GTX660 vs GT650 and keyboard) Which SSD to go for, cheap and good performing? I'm planning to get from this seller : - http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2471560&hl= as for gfx comparison, actually gtx660m and gt650m are not that much different... besides, not many current games can play at ultra setting smoothly on gtx660m about ssd, it should be either m4 or intel 330... eventhough intel 330 use sandforce controller, it should be ok as intel ssd firmware is great |

QUOTE(jaQ-Ass @ Sep 10 2012, 05:29 PM) Hey guys. Is this normal? are you hosting a wireless access point or something? if not, then i think you can disable the virtual wifi as it splits the bandwith» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Im currently experiencing super slow wifi. My connection is stable but Ive compared with my housemate laptop which is Acer. It seems that he can buffer a lot faster than me when it comes to youtube. |
