Hey guys, I have a question I hope someone can answer.

I just got my y580 and slotted a SSD in it. In the Disk Management Page, I see a partition called 'OEM Partition' (20gb) unused and 100% free. I then used EaseUS to view the partition and it says it's about 15gb used.

Question is: Should I delete this? It has the lenovo files in it. 20gb is alot of space ;/

OS is in SSD. OEM partition is also in SSD. I've replaced the HDD with the SSD.

I'm using an enclosure for the HDD now and using it externally. That's the only choice I have right now I guess.

The OEM partition actually contains the factory restore image and the necessary resources for the user interface. You can delete this partition since you mentioned it has been mirrored into the SSD. As a precaution, you can also backup the OEM partition into discs for recreating the partition in the future.

So the recovery or backup discs contain the same stuff as the OEM partition?

I believe so. You can try invoke the recovery interface from the SSD. If everything is in order, then yes this is the OEM partition.

Not recommended because incompatible drivers and such might happen. Clean format on the ssd is better and short time since you are using a ssd hmm.gif

Go to C:\Windows\Minidump and take a look at the files. These are BSOD logs and memory dumps. You will find hints of what went wrong. As per other forumers' suggestions, best that you uninstall the recent software that you installed and see if the issue persist.
