Rodgers looking to win over fansQUOTE Brendan Rodgers feels he has a lot to prove at Liverpool and believes the majority of the club's fans are "still not sure" about his appointment.
After a hugely impressive spell in charge of Swansea City, Rodgers arrived at Anfield looking to revitalise the club after the sacking of fans' favourite Kenny Dalglish.
"I do feel at home but I will never be complacent," he said. "I'm sure the majority of supporters are still not sure about me. I've got so much to prove here. I have got to fight for my life to prove I am good enough to be here.
"I feel comfortable in relation to my position and work on the field. My promise was to fight for the club every single day.
"We're in a good moment and a good position. We've had a terrific pre-season and we've already started our competitive games in the Europa League. We now arrive into the Barclays Premier League next week with a real strong mindset, and hopefully that can continue.
"Certainly, I am very, very pleased with where we're at. The players have shown great determination and they want to learn. They're very happy to work in this way. I am delighted with where we're at because I know the vision and where this leads to, and hopefully it will continue to improve."
It also appears that Andy Carroll, who rejected a move to West Ham United earlier this summer, could have a place in the manager's plans.
Rodgers had indicated that Carroll would be allowed to leave Anfield, but the England striker scored for the Reds against Leverkusen and Rodgers said: "The poor guy got stuck with it that he can't play this way, but it was a wonderful piece of skill." Agger in the darkQUOTE Daniel Agger has expressed his desire to stay at Liverpool, but says his Anfield future is in the hands of the club and no one has spoken to him about the situation.
Agger, 27, has been strongly linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester City, while Spanish giants Barcelona are also in the running for his signature.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers last week hinted Agger's time at Anfield may be up by admitting "every player has his price" and the centre-back's Liverpool career has been plunged into further doubt with news that City are believed to be preparing a third bid after seeing two reported bids rejected.
However, Agger, currently on international duty with Denmark ahead of Wednesday's friendly with Slovenia, claims he has not been informed of City's interest and remains hopeful he will be plying his trade on Merseyside this season.
When asked about his future, Agger told Politiken: "I have not been told anything by the club regarding the transfer. It is not up to me to judge whether it's weird or not. That is how the club has decided that it should be. I can not do anything.
"This period is every year, but I take it quietly with a smile. There has not been anything from the club so far, there's no reason for me to be worried. I know there has been something from Manchester City, but i dont know what Liverpool thinks of it.
"I'm fine with my situation. The club must find out what they want. I have heard nothing from them. I'd rather be here, but it's not me who has the decision at the moment.
"Liverpool may just make the transfer, even though I have two years left. But no, I have not changed my mind on the subject when I said I will not play for other English clubs than Liverpool, but sometimes you can still get in a situation where it's not your decision.
"I will not stay in a place where I am not wanted, but I'd rather be here. This is my priority."
Agger has recently had the initials of the famous Reds song 'You'll Never Walk Alone' tattooed onto his knuckles, but he insists it has no connection.
"It has nothing to do with my current situation. It is a gesture towards the Kop, towards Liverpool and towards the people around the club." SOS : espnsoccernet
