the way how they protect the return is to have a minimum number of subscriber before they add the port. Wish you luck... it can be few week or ....

go to tm point directly. give them your full address. they will print out for you the location. it tell how many avail ports like 5 ports for example. once confirm then you apply.

if someone on wait list, the port surely reserve. then go again days later. u know there are 2 more ports.

maxis check with tm on port availability. if none they won't call. if they need to allocate new ports. tm has to setup a fiber dist unit. take take seriously long time depending on demand. they must get no. applications vs the setting up cost. then they start to do something.

just like long ago. we had minibus services. if no penuh they won't go.

My goodness, 2 years?!?!?!?? blink.gif

I applied for unifi more than half a year ago for my new house, and TM also no news yet as to when they'll be installing new ports for my area.
And what's worse is, my area also got no Streamyx as TM said they only use optic fibre for my area.
This is ridiculous, I'm staying in the city and there's no land line communication for me to use.

since, unifi doesnt seem to be updating me quick enough on availability of ports for my area, im guessing theres not much hope left. so now im resorting to streamyx 8mbps, and i was wondering if they use the same ports, or different ports or whatever can someone explain what i can expect when subscribing for streamyx?

I've been waiting for them to install new unifi port for the jalan of my address since May/June 2014, and still no update from them yet. sad.gif
It's frustrating to see my neighbours all using Unifi and Maxis fibre and I'm still using Yes 4G with quota limit. mad.gif

Streamyx runs on entirely different thing, they're using the copper telephone line, the normal telephone line you using for your phone. Unifi runs on optic fibre instead.
As far as I know, as long you got a working telephone line for your home, you should be able to install Streamyx.
However, whether or not you can get the 8mbps is subject to availability. They seem to limiting the number of 4mpbs and above users. That means, if there's no availability at your area, you most likely can only get 2mpbs package at most.

If you're talking about land line connection, Streamyx and Unifi/Maxis fibre are pretty much the options that you have. Unless you want to consider of Time Fibre, which only cover for apartment/condo those high rise resident building.

If go for wireless, then there's Yes 4G, which is what I'm currently using, and also P1, Maxis, Celcom, Digi etc. But mind you, those are capped with data quota, like your phone's mobile data plan.
For my case, Yes will throttle the speed to 0.1Mbps once the data quota is finished.

Can consider, but this is capped with data quota, so have to use wisely, and can't really do much downloading.

I am so unlucky!!! My area's unifi ports are fully used. I swear they are trolling me. I know one of my neighbours just got unifi even though i applied earlier!! Apparently I'll need to wait a few years till my neighbours leave. T.T i use the internet for work so I am super screwed. I need a decent land line and all tm can give me is a measly 4MB streamyx. Another one of my neighbour just moved but he lives one street behind me. Apparently i cannot use his port or something like that...

Any tips or help for getting unifi/fiber will be super helpful...

thank u chungdavi for replying...really appreciate any help...

I facing same situation as you, port full for the street adress of my house, the other jalan beside my house still got port available, but can't use it for my house. mad.gif
My neighbors all using Unifi/Maxis fibre and I have to use Yes 4G with capped data quota. sad.gif

4Mbps Streamyx actually isn't that bad you know, I used it before at my old house, it's quite stable. Consider you lucky still got Streamyx available, my house is at a 3-4y/o area so they don't use traditional copper phone line anymore, so no Streamyx for me. sad.gif

From what I know, there's really nothing much you can do other than waiting. Or you can go around the neighbourhood staying on same street as you and see who's on the waiting list also? TM will only install new port when there's enough demand from the area.

Is the apartment under Unifi coverage? If it is then Maxis should be using Unifi infrastructure, meaning no matter you applied for Unifi or Maxis Fibre, both also have to wait for TM to install new port.
Not entirely sure about this, so anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.

I am too, suffering from the same problem as you, my area under Unifi coverage, but port for my Jalan is full, been on the waiting list since April 2014. I've waited for more than a year, and when I last visited TMPoint for update last week, they told me TM has no plan on installing new port for my area yet. sad.gif

If Unifi no ports in your area, that means Maxis also has no ports in your area.Maxis use Unifi fibre backbone to provide their fibre internet service.Maxis pay sewa to Telekom Malaysia for using Telekom Malaysia infrastructure.Buliding own fibre backbone is expensive,so most ISP rent.

Time fibre is using its own fibre backbone, thats why Time Fibre coverage is limited.

My area here is Taman Pelangi, JB, also no more ports. When I went to the TM Centre, all they could advise is to install Streamyx for the time being until the next UNIFI subscriber in my area will give up their subscription.

I'd even told them that there are already 2 guaranteed customers: my immediate neighbor and myself, because we are both on ABN and it had gone bankrupt and stopped services since 03 July 2015. Sigh, want to give them business they also don't want.

Do sign up for Streamyx first while waiting for installation of new Unifi port, you'll never know how long the wait will be.

Probably 2 new subscriptions weren't enough to convince them to install new port. From what I heard, 1 port is usually distributed to 8 units, and they require at least 4 of the units subscribed before they can consider installing a new port.
Sounds terrible, does that mean as long as there's no new user subscribing for your area you'll have to keep waiting?
Looking at my neighbors all using Maxis Fibre and Unifi, and no one seems to be moving out any time soon, I seriously have no idea how long my wait is going to be. I won't feel surprised if it's gonna take me 3 or 4 years of wait.

Yup, will have to consider that as a last resort. Presently using YES 4G huddle, but it's too expensive for downloading. Casual email and surfing is still tolerable.

My advise, sign up for Streamyx 4Mbps if it's available, instead of using Yes 4G, because at least Streamyx is unlimited quota.
I'm not as lucky, my area has no traditional copper telephone line, so no Streamyx, I can only go for fibre, and the only thing I can do is wait for TM to install new Unifi port. sad.gif

I'm using Yes 4G as well, and every month I'm paying more than the price of Unifi 5Mbps, but only getting 12GB of peak data quota, which only good enough to last for 3 weeks at most. doh.gif

You can try to inquire about Umobile. I heard their mobile broadband rate (cost/GB) is cheaper than YES 4G.

Hmm, just browsed through their website, I'd say they provide the most quota for a certain price among all I surveyed (Yes, Maxis, Digi, Celcom).
Unfortunately I'm still tied to my Yes 4G contracts, so I'll just stick to Yes atm.

Anyway to ask TM to make UniFi available in my area or at least Streamyx 4mbps or 8mbps port available?

My goodness, 2 years?!?!?!?? blink.gif

I applied for unifi more than half a year ago for my new house, and TM also no news yet as to when they'll be installing new ports for my area.
And what's worse is, my area also got no Streamyx as TM said they only use optic fibre for my area.
This is ridiculous, I'm staying in the city and there's no land line communication for me to use.
*
Finally contacted by TM for Unifi installation, apparently one of my neighbours shifted out.
That's a total of 1 and a half year wait for me, considering I have no landline connection at all, not even a phone, the long wait is still quite unacceptable. shakehead.gif

Now I'm tied up with 2 Yes contracts, the earliest which I can terminate is Aug 2016, heavy commitment just for the Internet. sad.gif

You're lucky. There are 3 owners wanting to subscribe to UNIFI in my street. My neighbor went to the TM Centre to inquire and was told that a new terminal box (for 8 more ports) will be installed in October. Today is already 29 October and I still don't see anything yet. May be TM means October 2016 !!!

I live at Pangsapuri Kenanga, Taman Sri Gombak Batu Caves, Jalan GP 2. Dont have Unifi, but my neighbour next block a 3 floor commercial lot just 10 metres away got unifi as well as the terrace houses in front of my block about 20meteres away has it.

Unfortunately, my block currently excluded from getting the Unifi infra.. am so disappointed. Can i do the port request here?

The saddest part is : we also ran out of Streamyx port.. even straemyx also i cannot apply..

Thank you.

Dear All,

It has been a very frustrating experience with TM. It is the first time i am signing up Internet Broadband with TM.

UniFi not in coverage is fine. Could only offered only 1 Mbps then get 4Mbps. The 8Mbps expected to be serviceable by end of Oct '15.

Submitted application few days ago and being rejected because 8Mbps port is not available.

I could not believe the mess of these by TM. It is just wasted too many effort to get something seems simple to be done.

Beg also don't give. Pay also don't want your money like that. sigh~~

to the ppl above, may i know where is ur area that does NOt have streamyx,
or unifi, or better still both ? (pls state the condo/ road name and dont have which 1)

also:
1) if u (or i) wanna transfer ur unifi to an area and it only hv streamyx, will tm force u to switch to straemyx or allow u to terminate unifi without penalty
2) any1 know of an area or road/ condo/ apt that doesnt have both unifi and streamyx? eg: pjs7 mutiara perdana sunway doesnt have unifi till 2013-14 only starts to have . tq

tm tricks me into faked free service or exchanging my modem but quietly locking me for 2another yrs, now i cant terminate. 1staff secretly ask me to find a building that doesnt hv both unif and streamyx, transfer there, since TM cant transfer for u ,they will allow me to cut, urgently need help here, tq

btw the 10mb they give me is damn slow, tq

It seems to be a hassle when TM says no port availability. In my area it's just an extension of new area and they only have Unifi.

Ok I accept this as you only want to provide Unifi services to these houses. Now when I apply they tell me no port.

How is this possible? I don't understand. There is no streamyx or telephone line while I can apply.

These are basic needs, if you don't provide why do allow the local council to declare as city and collect revenue on a higher value.

TM is just a mess, they have ask to wait.

Big time scam!!!!

I think for place that doesn't have streamyx would be some very ulu place. Because streamyx using normal phone line, you need place that can't even get phone line into it.

If you could gather couple of more consumers and write an official letter to TM, they would expedite the port expansion exercise.

As I said, the only way to expedite the port expansion to write to them with couple of requesters together. Else they wont bother since the cost is high.

Yup, alternatively you could seek for streamyx.

Have you bring this up to the TM's main management? I can guess it's more straightforward than my case. My residential area has no phone line and it's making the situation even worse! Here's the story from the residents:

anybody know that the Unifi SNR test must meet above 12 DB for download and upload.
if below 12 , is it the signal is not stable or unable to get bandwidth ?

Yea VDSL2 TM must give you a minimum or 12db for both but that 12 you will get a shitty ping and unable to use hypptv with max internet speed. The best is 20db+ for stable ping but if you are not gaming then 12db is ok for a "mamak shop" type internet.

my snr right now
1) attainable speed:90Mbps Download (good) | 34Mbps Upload (on the good)
2) attenuation: 12dbm Download (good) | 26dbm Upload (near border)
3) SNR: 15dbm Download (good) | 12dbm Upload (on the boarder )

What is your ping to the gateway? usually your IP 123.123.123.254 the last number just change to 254.
so if you IP is 123.123.123.123 just ping 123.123.123.254.

The SNR for download is only 9.2 and upload is 13 dbm. The technician said unifi 30 mbps cannot be installed. but they offer to install VIP5, is the low SNR can support VIP5 and do online streaming and connect to hypptv?

Have u checked the tiang got how many cables/user? I waited for 2yrs then only realized a bit distanced pole only have 2 users on that where the one right behind my house is full.

So I took picture, show to agent then they reported this to TM. If they check through system and not on site, system will say full. So for my case, they pulled a long fibre cable crossing like 6houses to reach mine instead.

I'll help explain how this works. Each cabinet has a limited number of ports, these are physical ports. Each subscriber gets 1 port physically routed to them and in some cases even 2. So if there are no extra ports you wont get a port until they add more. Both TM and Maxis share the same cabinets (maxis using TM infrastructure).

Cable on the other hand uses a shared topology allowing for many subscribers and the stereotypical Cable ISPs are bad thing but theres no cable in malaysia, only DSL and fiber for wired.

Easiest solution is to get a reliable agent to do it!

In my case, no unifi also. No unifi air. Even people at TM when I went there said that streamyx only available for 2mb, and they don't encourage me to sign up. Just like that.

My place here not ulu one. I can see the big AEON Klebang from my house. WTH...
