look back at galaxy S. they got GB update, but no ICS update. That means sgs2 will not get jellybean update also ?

depends on users usage. for non-G users, definitely upgrade to ICS coz got no issue regarding the RAM.

What issue with the RAM? Just because it shows 600/700MB? If the phone is smooth and fast, even if it shows only 300MB, won't you upgrade? As you said, depend on user usage, and for G/non-G, it's definitely a step up in terms of usage.. show me 1000MB also useless if phone occasionally hangs..

edit: also, the total ram can change depends on the ROM/kernel you flashed..

jkay mod got a bug one.
so annoying,

out of the blue, the clock will stop moving,
not the whole system clock, just the status bar clock.
it will just freeze at certain time and wont move.

time in other apps are fine though.
example the clock hang at 2.15pm in status bar,
but the real time is 3pm now, if receive sms, sms time stamp will state 3pm. lock screen clock also 3pm. every clock works fine,
just the status bar clock freeze.

need to go settings>time, set the time again only the status bar clock become normal. so far been using for 3 days, happen twice yesterday.

Wow, the "MORE RAM FREE BETTERER!" issue. I thought only the PC world suffers from this shiat.

Truth be known, like madlocke said, RAM IS MEANT TO BE USED. Why? It's faster than flash storage (or the humble HDD in the PC world).

So everything in RAM is FASTERER. If it's not in RAM, than it's prolly cached in flash (or HDD) and moving slower then a snail on a hot day.

Although having ZERO free RAM is an issue, having it USED OPTIMALLY is what you ACTUALLY WANT.

So, having 300 of 1GB RAM free and the rest optimally used is ALWAYS better than having 800 of 1GB RAM free and having everything cached in flash. The former will be smoother and faster.

Of course, having 2GB RAM to begin with IS BETTERER, but we can't have it all, can we now.

You guys don't understand.
People do care about the RAM issue.
Many people buy the phone because of 1GB RAM (one of the reason).
Now they feel cheated with only 687RAM.
Also, it is not fair.
People will ask: Why non-g only reduced RAM a little?
Why GNexus with nearly same chipset can 1GB?
This is like a president do not respond some problem and citizens go sabotage.
Some people really need the multitasking function.
Do you think 150MB++ of space is enough?
Sometimes I also feel quite frustrated about this. That 687MB sure will hurt people, in terms of physiology.

In overall, only a clear and official explanation solves this problem.
Now Samsung is too quiet towards every problems.
