Doctoring is no more the glamorous profession it was....
And now that everybody can buy a medical degree, it is no more exclusive either....
We joked in the past how some countries doctors drive taxis....now they drive Uber here....
agreed with your statement.
30 years ago, we need at least STPM / A Level grade 3A1B to get into medical school at public uni. Now private uni offer medical course accepted BBB grades and heard some overseas medical school accept even lower grade student as long you willing to pay.
Hi All, I've question to ask here, appreciate if someone know the answer. My kid just completed his mufy foundation in pure science mufy foundation (English, physics, maths, Chem combination) and obtained reasonable good marks with average aggreate scores 88.6 and he told me he is not keen in engineering courses and besides Monash Sunway U, I wonder anyone know any private local medical college accept pure science student into Medical school or pharmacy. TIA
88.6 for MUFY is pretty average and no where near good...
In fact, I also don't know what scores is bad, average, good or excellent for MUFY graduate result. For me as a parent, I'm happy with my son results as long he can continue pursuit his tertiary education at Monash U.
There are cheaper and MMC recognized medical schools you know... Does your kid even want to study medicine?
Try have him read a Biology book first... see if likes it...
Biology sure no problem for him, he obtained A for his biology subject in SPM. just I've poorly advised him to take pure science combination in MUFY bcos his Chemistry, Physics and Modern Maths scored A+, In fact, He did well in his SPM exam last year with 5A+, 2A, 2A- and 1B+.

The question still stands... does your kid want to do medicine? or do you want him to do medicine? Many of my colleagues quit medical school and housemanship to do something else that they actually enjoy...
You better be sure of what he wants to do, it is a very large investment to do medicine...
since it can't meet the MMC requirement. I think my son have to explore others courses like business, law and actuarial science. personally I prefer he go for business or law courses.
Other than Queen's Belfast, Leicester ,Liverpool, New Castle etc are RM850-930k for 2017-18 intakes ...... and rising annually . Living another RM200k ..... my bad as RM 1M is just off the mark.
Glasgow, Oxford, Cambridge ... you're right though.
You may be also right with 'all' Australian med schools, IIRC.
As a bonus, IINM all the above med schools are recognised by Singapore.
Note:At the point of Brexit in June 2016 , GBP drops from RM6.30ish to RM5.30ish ... today it's RM5.60ish.
I've browse thru some of the local 1 tier private medical school fee like monash, newcastle, IMU and PMC last few days. All above RM 0.5mil with the 5 years inflation rate around 3%-5%. Even 2nd tier medical school fee also in the range of rm370K-RM450K.
Adelaide is likely the highest for undergraduate schools nearly at RM 2m for fees and expenses .Currently annual fees is AUD 75,000 subject to annual increase.Monthly living cost should be between RM5k to RM6k. This is a 6 years program. Current exchange is 3.15.
Uni Adelaide, Uni Melbourne, Uni Sydney, Uni NSW , Monash Uni, WA Uni, U QLD and AN Uni is belongs to group G08, Tuition fee is extremely expensive for Malaysian like us.
There is actually reasonable methods of reducing the attrition of doctors away from the profession....
Setting high academic requirements reduce coping failures....
Isat/umat/bmat/ukcat etc are aptitude tests to try determine people suitability....
Finally, as is noted by several here, graduate entry medical students are more motivated, as they are more matured when they decided....
Msia generally failed in all three....
I was told by my son, the ISAT exam cost RM1K and beside, Monash Sunway Medicine school, No sure others local private medical school demand this test result.
