Just to add. Cucms has apparently revised their medical school fee from 200k to 375k for the entire 5 year program. 75% increase of cost Pending accreditation from MQA after the fiasco some more. I am starting to think that Med school now are meat grinders to earn money, instead of really educating.

QUOTE(limeuu @ Jan 16 2013, 12:00 AM) starting?.....i thought some of us have been warning long before, about what private education and ptptn loans are in reality....and the top money spinner for businessman in education is medical education..... Let's pretend I'm naive but apparently, I still do have faith in humanity. Oh well, 375k for an education. Inflation's rate at 4% roughly now. In 5 years time, it would balloon up to around 500k just for a degree....

QUOTE(onelove89 @ Jan 16 2013, 01:19 AM) And once the first batch comes out, the fees will sky rocket again because they can brag that they are 'recognised'. all in a days work to fish out money from students, desperate or not. It's alright, it's much cheaper than overseas. MUCH cheaper. A little correction :- 1st batch already out. It is just that because of the fiasco last time, the accreditation was changed to a 5 year by year approval my MQA. So, they are technically not fully accredited yet. Might as well I top up another 30k and go IMU

QUOTE(limeuu @ Aug 5 2013, 11:41 PM) A little clarification. At CUCMS, there's a side note saying "Period of recognition extended from 31/12/2010." What does that supposed to mean? Is there actually a recognition or? Thanks

QUOTE(cckkpr @ Aug 6 2013, 08:28 PM) Should be recognised as its one of the seven local med unis for bursary students this year. I thought with their accreditation fiasco years ago, they are given year by year recognition for the next few years rather than full recognition without restriction? Oh well, again this shows how blatant the rules can be bent and etc.

QUOTE(cckkpr @ Aug 7 2013, 11:26 AM) Its a change in ownership with a new crony. What happen in the past not important, we look to the future and try to be No. 1 blah blah blah! QUOTE(onelove89 @ Aug 7 2013, 01:08 PM) I really need to familiarize with the pathways in Malaysia. I'm guessing the OZ is with the British system? That sounds more like what is happening here eg - general training program - exams - specialize - sub-specialize. I heard SG is heading down the same pathway as US, eg after internship they can dive into specialization/subspecialization? Wonder if it is worthwhile doing UMSLE for those who're studying and planning to work here in Australia. the way of malaysia =) Thank you guys for re-affirming my disbelief as such medical practitioners. Sigh.
