If I am not wrong, it simply means to sign at the contract as a form of verification.

I think so.
In Singapore, IT jobs are highly paid. May be higher than 7k, depending on the company.
Similarly to the finance industry.
Also depends on your skill sets.

A CIO/CTO can be paid even higher than 7k, depending on the company.
