probably they'll restock like 20 units per location and then after that say "due to overwhelming response...."

I posted this in another thread, but I think i'll get faster reply here since a lot of buyers just got their phones.... I still don't understand how the package is not beneficial to the buyer.... here is how i understand it using maxis plan for my example:

Phone price with 24 month contract package = RM999
Advance payment = RM968
Payment for data + voice calls (after advance payment refund)= (RM98 x 24 months) - Advance payment = RM2352 - RM968 = RM1384
TOTAL PRICE OF PHONE + TELCO CHARGES OVER 2 YEARS = RM999 + RM1384 = RM2383

Compare this with buying the phone without contract:

Phone price without contract = RM2199
Advance payment = RM0
Monthly payment for data + voice calls = (RM98 x 24 months) - Advance payment = RM2352 - RM0 = RM2352
TOTAL PRICE OF PHONE + TELCO CHARGES OVER 2 YEARS = RM4551

Therefore, wouldn't total savings = RM4551 - RM2383 = RM2168?

Saya budak baru belajar, kalau salah tolong tunjukkan.. =)

why u deduct the advance payment refund?? those are still the money u paid ..the difference is u pay first, then slowly telco rebate u..  tongue.gif
*
true, but in the end, that amount is still credited back to you via rebate, which means after 24 months, you would've gained back that amount. which means you cannot consider that as cost over that 24 months. that's how i understand it...

rm999 + (Rm98x24) = 3351 excl tax... this is the min. total spending...

rm968 is u pay  in advance first..then they put this 968 into ur acc..so mean u overpay maxis rm968...so they slowly deduct..until u no more credit .. then u need to pay again..

i give u another example, u pay maxis rm300 in advance, ur monthly bill is rm50 per month..so mean u six month not need pay.. .so at the end, u still spend rm300 already.. .
*
correct. the original amount i would pay for telco bills over the 2 year contract = RM98 x 24 months = RM2352. but maxis hutang me RM968 which i paid upfront, and they need to credit it back by offsetting my monthly bills, which means i deduct RM968 from the original amount of RM2352, which means that i only need to cover the remainder, which = RM2352 - RM968 = RM1384.

another way i look at it is, regardless of the upfront payment, in the end, i will pay RM2352 for telco bills over 24 months. if i don't deduct the amount i pay upfront, it means that i'm paying RM3332 for telco bills alone, which is inaccurate right?

sorry yeah... i've been trying to figure this out the whole darn day and i still don't get it.... =(

u r paying rm2358 at least to telco for 2 yrs of rm98 plan.. advance payment is like refundable deposit only..to make the telco feel 'secure'

so total u pay rm2358 but u pay rm968 first , then remaining balance will be rm1390 which u still owe them..and pay later...
*
ok, i think i get it. let's redo my example calculation. over 2 years, everyone who uses the RM98 / month plan will pay a total of RM2352 regardless of the upfront payment right? so let's remove upfront payment calculation then.

Phone price with 24 month contract package = RM999
Payment for data + voice calls for 24 months = (RM98 x 24 months) = RM2352
TOTAL PRICE OF PHONE + TELCO CHARGES OVER 2 YEARS = RM999 + RM2352 = RM3351

Compare this with buying the phone without contract:

Phone price without contract = RM2199
Payment for data + voice calls for 24 months = (RM98 x 24 months) = RM2352
TOTAL PRICE OF PHONE + TELCO CHARGES OVER 2 YEARS = RM2199 + RM2352 = RM4551

So, total savings = RM4551 - RM3351 = RM1200.

is that correct now?

ya..rm98 is min expenses..if u over use then u need pay extra..and u need add in tax 6% also..  tongue.gif but i read that for rm999, u need to subscribe rm50 value plus + rm68 data package?
*
but the extra cost and 6% tax applies to everyone, so that kinda evens out the playing field. but seriously, with a minimum cost saving of RM1000 (i'm not even using the actual RM1200 amount), i can't understand why so many don't find the package plan appealing? perhaps i not as cash rich as most... heheh...

Hey guys, what are the main things to check for when purchasing the phone?

First thing I know must check for scratches and dead pixel (what's the code again?)
Then should check the IMEI right? (What's the code again?)
What else to check ah?
