KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 — Malaysia Airlines' (MAS) brand new Airbus A380 fleet will be fuelled by Petron Corp, the oil and gas arm of the Philippine-based giant San Miguel Corp, in which Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed's eldest son, Mirzan Mahathir sits as one of its directors.
The national carrier inked a special six-month deal whereby Petron Corp will provide complimentary fuel for the A380's inaugural flight out of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) tonight.

The fuelling arrangement will be serviced by Petron Malaysia's subsidiary Esso Malaysia Berhad.
"We are proud to say that MAS's A380 is fuelled by Petron," MAS group CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said in a joint statement with Petron Corp's chairman and chief executive Ramon Ang.
The statement added that the new deal will be used as a launch pad for joint brand promotions by the two companies.
MAS has ordered six A380 aircraft, of which four will be delivered by year end and the remaining two next year.
The KL- London route is the first destination for the A380, to be followed by Sydney towards the end of November.
