Just got my Razer Tiamat 7.1 yesterday,
at first, I plugged it into my pc dedicated sound card Creative X-fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro, the first thing I test is music playback (with soundcard upmix stereo audio to surround), sounds......funny, then I go my sound card control panel, tweak it properly, tune the sound setting correctly for the headphone (every headphone, earphone , speaker are built differently anyway, needs different setting to match), right now the sound, compare to my previous used headphones, is like sky and ground, couldn't compare at all the bass shakes my head (not even 50%) can still go stronger without cracking sound, I'm very impressed with the sound quality, and really do not understand why there are some ppl used it and said it was crap next, get to game, first I test bad company 2, which has multi channel audio, holy crap, gun fire sounds. environment sounds blow me away and explosion kills me, this is completely different than music playback the "upmixed by soundcard" from stereo to surround, you can clearly hear where the sounds are coming from, aloooooooot better than the "Virtual Surround" headphones on the market. Will do more test later on other multichannel audio supported games, such as source games and battlefield 3. Next, bluray movie, I pick up my Fast Five blu ray movie, it actually has only 5.1 surround, but well still sounds really great on 7.1, how to explain, it's like watching movie in cinema, the realistic surround sound that you can hear with home threater setup, or 5.1/7.1 Speaker set. There are many Razer Tiamat 7.1 review articles over the internet, actually just like what they'd reviewed, this tiamat sounds GREAT on Gaming, sounds really good on movies and music, the only let down is the microphone, it may sound like you are speaking inside a box or small room, but if you have a good onboard sound or dedicated sound card, you can still tune the mic sounds good enough, I'll still recommend to use separate mic if you really want a good mic quality. If you have one this headphone and you get terrible sound, do not conclude so fast, that's not the headphone problem, but ur sound card with incorrect, unmatch settings. You really need to know how to tune your sound on your sound card to use this awesome headphone, if you don't know how to tune you may end up terrible sound quality or cracking sound. If you are an audiophile, Razer Tiamat 7.1 maybe not good enough for you, but perfect for gamers, some movie and music also good too. Pros: hmm, many Cons: - Mic not good enough, compare to most mics on the market, but acceptable for me. - Magnetic side covers may fall off sometime if you touch them when putting on/taking off the headphone. edit for BF3, D3: Tried this on Battlefield 3, it sounds greater than other games I'd tested,it just like the headphone was made for the game. woot. Also tested on D3 with in game audio setting 7.1 enabled, it's not a FPS game, but still you can hear the sounds are coming from different directions, like you are watching your character from top, outside of the game screen. QUOTE(gsJackMin @ Aug 30 2012, 08:47 PM) bro, what other headset u used b4 tiamat? can kindly tell me what kind of settings u disable/enable for soundcard? im still trying to make my tiamat sounds good...... im using asus xonar phoebus. yes i do agree the bass explosions & surround is good, but other stuffs not clear... like when they talking (games or movie). do u set anything at the tiamat volumn control panel there? steelseries siberia v1, most of the settings i set are on the sound card control panel, different sound card maybe different settings, did you try to lower ur main volume in windows? try 50% or lower, most of time if you put ur windows master volume at 100%, the audio streams are over loud, cause some not clear sound, sounds like it's going to break |

QUOTE(gsJackMin @ Sep 5 2012, 01:01 PM) heavyarm : can say so , and very troublesome for me to configure it again if the youtube, music, or the games that doesnt support 7.1 . i still prefer the simple plug n play of x41 haha. yep, very depend on the onboard sound or sound card the user has, some very difficult to adjustalso depend on the audio source easy to set for surround compatible games and movies , they sound great for Stereo sources such as youtube, music and no surround games, need some trick to tune make them sound good My settings: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « After few days of using the Tiamat and adjust, I've already found optimal settings, so I only need change on Tiamat's Master volume and Windows Master Volume for Stereo Upmix and Surround Games I tried with Tiamat: BF3- Sound Great, just like the headphone was made for the game. BFBC2- Sound Great Source games - Sound pretty Good Diablo 3 - Recommended 2.1 upmix, 7.1 sounds abit off unless you turn it loud enough Dota 2 - Sound ok, not Great Skyrim - Sound Great Ghost Recon Future Soldier - Sound Great This post has been edited by squall0833: Sep 6 2012, 03:08 PM |

I've been using my Razer Mamba (non 4G) + Lycosa mirror for nearly 4 years
used it to play many games during this time, a great and comfortable mouse I ever used from Razer but dont really like other razer mouse though, except deathadder right now using Razer Tiamat 7.1, a great headphone for FPS gaming like BF3 really helpful for BF3 accurately (more accurate than using 2.0 headphone) to track enemies position around you by footsteps/sounds before able to see them and mark them just want to share that this headphone pretty complicate, you need to know how to tweak/setup correctly else you will end up not great sound, think this headphone isnt great a Great headphone that isn't really great to everyone, depending on the type of sound card the user has and the proper suitable tweak for the best result This post has been edited by squall0833: Apr 11 2013, 03:36 AM |

Tried Razer Surround with my previous headphone Siberia V1
you can really hear directional sound with any stereo headphones, sound position adjustable since every headphone sounds different just take note, this virtual surround takes the multiple channels audio source from your existing onboard sound or sound card and then simulates them into stereo, any sound enchancement from ur onboard sound or sound card may lost, sound quality will not as good as directly from ur onboard/sound card I'm using Creative x-fi with Tiamat 7.1, can say that Tiamat 7.1 with true surround and direct audio source from Creative Sound card + enchancement sounds way better than this virtual surround when I'm using Razer Surround, taking audio from my Creative Sound card, all enchancement gone. sound quality drop alot and abit like hearing in a can. well ,virtual surround still works pretty good for any stereo headphone user This post has been edited by squall0833: Jun 27 2013, 01:39 PM |
