680x480 resolution shouldn't be a problem I think if you want to wash 4R sizes, of course the bigger the better. Just talk to the boss, i think can be done, i asked before but I've forgotten about the resolution, but I wash 8R.

errr.. i tot 1600x1200 is ok for 3R.. so 4R must use higher megapixels lor.. about the resize while maintain the quality.. its totally IMPOSSIBLE..

or some shops actually can blow up pictures just using the scanner.. after all, their scanner is a high resolution type say 4800*2400 or somewhere around there, enlarging the photo shouldn't be a problem. and you might notice the difference when they print it out since they don't normally use normal printers.

I agree with etsuko, scanning may help. I've done this with my scanner a couple of times at high dpi mode, but just to save the trouble, printing 640x480 to 4R is fine! You have a monitor displaying at 800x600, and 640x480 takes three quarter of your screen, what do you get? A size close to or bigger than 4R, and they look alright for the average human eye. Don't look too close to the printouts and you'll be fine!
