Hi guys,

i am facing a similar dilemma, i have verbally accepted an offer from company X about 3 weeks ago and i am to start work next monday. However, i have received invitations for interview (one final and one second interview) from company Y and Z next tuesday (one in the morning and another in the afternoon).

I am more interested in these 2 companies and really want to give them a shot but how do i apply for leave on the 2nd of work. Is it normal for ppl to take leave on the 2nd day of work ? And company X has been really nice to me cause they accepted my request to start work in the beginning of June, which is 3 weeks away from the time i am offered the position.

One part of me is telling me to reject the 2 interviews and settle for company X as i have made them wait for 3 weeks. The other part of me is telling me to apply for leave and go for the interviews as these 2 companies interest me more. Please advise.

Thx sylar11 for your reply. Requesting for earlier interview dates with company Y and Z are impossible, interview with company Y comes in the form of a presentation to the panel of directors and the date is firm. In the case of company Z, the hr contacted me on Thursday and since Friday is a replacement holiday for them, that makes the earliest interview date, Monday clashes with my first working day with company X.

One possible strategy is to delay my start date with company X but is this better or worse than taking mc on the second day of work ? Pls advice

Company Y and Z are both FMCG mnc,
