Discussing this about balancing your stat for inferno difficulty, if you are still in nightmare or hell, well, u dont need to worry yet.

We have 13 piece of equipment slots

Amulet
Belt
Boots
Bracers
Chest
Gloves
Helm
Pants
Ring1
Ring2
Shoulder
Weapon
Offhand

How do you guys balance out your stat ? Some of us saying Resists All is utmost important, its about surviving, then its about dealing damage. No point u can take hits but cant kill anything, so balance is important too, i heard somebody said he manage to get 800+ resists all, i wondering how that can be done without seriously impact to damage u can deal, not all equipment offer Resists All, i guess weapon is 1 of it, and offhand for most class should be cant too, so u left 11 slots, and i dont see anything offer Resists All more than 90, so 80+ is max for any type of armor, so to get 800 Resists all, u need to have resists all on every single piece of equipment and almost max it out, after that what is left for damage ?

How much protection 800 Resists All offer ? And how much damage u willing to sacrifice for it, from 4 hit killing a mob, extending to 10 hits, if 4 hit, the mob might not got a chance to hit you at all, so what is the point of resists while 10 hit is alot longer and it got the chance to hit you back, thats when u make your resists all useful.

So where is the balance point of getting good defense while maintain your damage ? i think 800 resists all is too much sacrifice to dealing damage, how much 800 resists all offer compare to ie 500 resists all ? with just 500 resists all, i still manage to maintain my 80-90% damage output, 800 resists all, i guess 50% left, is it worth it?

Depends on what character and how you want to play your character.

I've seen a live stream of a Barb with 1k all resistance and about 13k DPS.
He dies every once in a while to hard elites, but he is able to farm and kill most elites with the help of super saiyan mode (Berserk IINM).

Also, there's some who completely went all out on DPS. For DH and WD, chances are, they'll easily get one shot/two shot most of the time. So they trade off all res and VIT for the glass cannon build.

So.. yeah, I agree that you need a balance in terms of stats. But before pumping everything into all res, I reckon you take a step back and think about how you're gonna play, how your skills will 'synergize' with your items and play style.

Demon Hunters = DPS. You shouldn't be stacking anything else but IAS, Crit, Crit Damage, Raw DMG and DEX because you shouldn't be getting hit to begin with.

Resistance and Armor bear the same importance for other classes and is valued more heavily than VIT. The minimum accepted value on reddit is 600 resist all for Act II Inferno.

Those really high res is mostly barb/monk.
Range classes I think about 300-500 is considered alright already.

Im working toward 500 all res myself, now about 230.Ppl said glass cannon built...blabla.But glass cannon is just not my style.
Also worth noting socketed helm could boost your life with up to 18% providing that you put in a maxed amethyst, freeing up some need for vit.

Different ppl different methods.Myself, I mitigate dmg with high crit chance and high crit dmg.So, weapon with slot is the best with potential to have +100% crit dmg.

My ideal dh goal is 2k main attribute, 40k hp, 500 all res with high attack speed crit chance and crit dmg.

If you can get all those stats on a piece of armor, go for it. DHs just need the minimum resist to survive two hits cause most of our fatalities come from the one hti we can't avoid (charging angels, lag + mortar). Monk benefits from One with all, so they just need to stack ONE resist to bring the rest to insane levels. Quite unfair too since they have like 60%+ evasion to go with that.
