UKM lecturers are speaking BM and mainly BM based in tests. How could engineering subjects be taught in BM ? My goodness.

QUOTE(KuzumiTaiga @ Jun 3 2012, 11:27 AM) and hence, your siggy is in sarcasm. I can't even imagine doing SPM in English and BM in foundation and degree level. Well ... I was unlucky because I learned BM in secondary and university. When I started to work, I found that English is really important. It is very weird when scientific terms are translated into English. For example, beam in BM is 'rasuk' . You said 'rasuk' to engineers, they don't understand you. |

QUOTE(KuzumiTaiga @ Jun 3 2012, 12:00 PM) double meanings .... that's why lah, really funny, right ? seldom we have BM speaking engineers in Malaysia, they all speak English. I think, for other fields, English is still the most popular English spoken. I had a hard time to improve my English when I started to work. |

QUOTE(KuzumiTaiga @ Jun 3 2012, 12:06 PM) Of course, when two employees , one could write and speak English efficiently and another one could only speak and write BM, if you are the boss, who would you pay more ?During meeting, your boss and others are all speaking good English and you barely speak rojak English , how do you feel ? another funny BM version : reinforced concrete - konkrit bertetulang This post has been edited by work_tgr: Jun 3 2012, 12:19 PM |

QUOTE(omels @ Jun 5 2012, 12:43 AM) yeah, i told u my previos degree study at UKM Engineering Faculty which all lectures/assingment/Exam done in English....not BM, other faculty i donno.... Oh, my bad ... i thought Eng is English ... HAHAHA (yeah , now I recall, Eng is Engineering). Btw, I was in 2001, that time 90% subjects were in BM. Maybe changed to English medium again ? Whatever it is , I like NONE of UKM lecturers from Eng ( year 1999 to 2001) because they didn't teach effectively. P/s: When i mentioned Eng Faculty, its mean Engineering Faculty...... QUOTE(Geneveive @ Jun 5 2012, 02:34 AM) I am from UKM and i don't find it offensive as there is a truth behind what you said.. Yeah ... I still can't believe UKM lecturers could speak English well. I will check UKM website to find out whether my lecturers were still teaching there or not. Too bad if they are the same persons. Even they speak English now, I still not recommend students to study there because the lecturers are ego, irresponsible and incompetent.Added on June 5, 2012, 2:38 am Never knew engineering fac implemented full English.. As for law fac, its mixed up..lectures in BM, tutorials in English, exams will be in both BM and English.. p.s. Just check the website, front page in English and in Eng it is in BM .... haha. Meaning that rojak language is still implemented which is really bad. This post has been edited by work_tgr: Jun 5 2012, 08:33 AM |

QUOTE(Federer @ Jun 5 2012, 03:32 PM) note in english ? exam paper in english ?honestly i don't know about recent days. in my time, > 10 years ago, notes and test papers are all in BM. I still have the sample to show, if anyone interested to see and you will laugh to hell at the contents. text books are all in English, and some how my lecturers (that time) never use text book in teaching. all the text books are from UK/ US. --- but we don't need to argue over this matter because your time and my time of study is different. I was studied BM in secondary for all subjects except English and Chinese. That time, UKM lecturers were 99% used BM as teaching language. Later, my juniors were taught in English , maybe because of that, it is changed to English. I will predict, under new education system, it will once again go back to BM as BM is used as teaching medium again in secondary level. This post has been edited by work_tgr: Jun 5 2012, 03:58 PM |

QUOTE(omels @ Jun 5 2012, 10:03 PM) in 2006 my 1st year, and when we as a new student were briefing by Timbalan Dekan Prof Dr. Jailani about UKM Eng., one of that they showed us UKM Eng. Rank No. 1 on that year compare to other university, UTM is no 3 if i m not mistaken. It's good to hear that. Mind to tell which course you took ?Other faculty maybe rojak language, but UKM Eng. nope, even during tutorial class also fully english. At last UKM made an improvement not like my time. Properly because we kept on complaining and gave poor feedback to Dekan. |
