Description:

This universal SATA Hard Drive Adapter lets you add a second hard drive to your laptop.
You can store more data and back up your data anytime anywhere without carrying an external hard drive .
Simply remove your CD/DVD-ROM drive and put the Caddy (with the hard drive) in it's place .

With external DVD drive USB Adapter , you can use your DVD drive as external when u need it .

Your laptop must use a standard/ universal SATA DVD drive and the high is 12.7mm/9.5mm
You can install this caddy bay by yourself with the given philips screwdriver . Its very easy nod.gif

Dear seller, can u solve a few doubts of mine? I'm using VAIO VGN-FW series. I'm planning to get 1 of your chaddy, juz few things to make sure.

My optical drive is SATA, so is this chaddy of urs fit my laptop nicely? Is the dimension of optical drive universal standard?

Have u heard of removing the facelift of the optical ROM & plug it to the chaddy, like what the link show:

Final cheeck with u, is ur caddy comes with screw hole to put my VAIO bracket?

I am just wondering if 60/64 GB SSD is enough for Windows 8 Pro. And not enough to even partition the 60/64 unless it is 120/128.

Most I install on C drive is MS office, acrobat reader. & some programs (< 500 mb)

When installing SSD on primary SATA bay, and mechanical HDD relegated to SATA caddy bay, how do u transfer / clone the HDD contents to the SSD ?

Glad u received the items,4 plastic screws is to be screwed on side of HDD/SSD. Another 2 screws is to lock HDD/SSD to caddy bay, this is to secure ssd/hdd from moving.

I'm happy to report that my HDD/ODD Caddy arrived safely rclxms.gif , almost exactly 24 hours from the time I placed the order!! smile.gif
I found it rather unusual for the shipping to be so reliable and blisteringly fast at the same time. The caddy is working great for me so far and I'm pretty sure it will do so for years to come, long after my laptop is sent for recycling.
In this day and age some of us barely use our optical drives as we have thumb drives to deal with sharing of large files and such. This is one great way to speed up your old not so future proof laptop (either SSD/ HDD combo or HDD/ HDD RAID0 if that's supported by your BIOS) drool.gif .

This is a purchase I'd like to recommend to those of you who feel the need for more on board storage who are maybe also lazy to buy new laptops due to the rate of technological advancement (wait for the next gen processor from AMD/ Intel/ Nvidia), or simply want better performance from their rigs, I'd also like to recommend the fellow forumer (skycrawler) who has brought us this great deal and service.

here is my screenshot. everything works fine. this is a must have item for laptop user. i put ssd in main bay while hdd in sata caddy.i can switch to another hdd just by pulling the caddy out.

Depend on your motherboard actually, but if u planning to put HDD on the caddy bay, Sata 2 or sata 3 is not important bcoz HDD didnt reach top speed of both Sata. nod.gif

I am planning to play Black Ops 2 on the BluRay rclxms.gif . Just asking, after taking it out from the laptop and sticking it with the external USB adapter...will it affect the transfer speed from the BluRay optical device to the laptop? Or transfer speed will not be affected at all?

Yes, G55 use 12.7mm SATA. SSD u put at normal bay, HDD u put at caddy bay nod.gif
