Can i remove my dvd drive from a lenovo g400s and put your hdd caddy with an ssd in it?

In your forum said for thinkpad use 9.5mm , so you are sure 12.7mm is for thinkpad T430 ?? . Can I use thinkpad DVD-ROM with adapator onto macbook black 2006 ? (cause the macbook DVD-ROM is faulty need to usb connection to install OS, Any advice ? )
