I have gone to few beaches in the along the borneo-south china sea front (from Miri-Kota Kinabalu) and so far Miri is one location where beautiful sunset can be viewed.
1) Miri Marina.
Its located located about 5km from the city center along the new Miri-Bintulu highway where you can find the iconic big seahorse statue. This is my first visit to this location and what I can say I like the element for photography opportunities. One place to look to when you visit to Miri to catch the sunset (but not the sunrise because the sun is at the back). When I say Marina, yes there is lot of of boat, cruiser and one giant wooden vessel docking. Did not taking photo because its private property, but when I get back check with my friend a Mirian, according to him you can take photo at RM70/hour. Maybe can confirm with the management if interested.

2) Bakam Beach.
Located about 10km from the city center along the new Miri-Bintulu highway. Bakam beach is about 10km stretch for flat land (or more) because as long as you can see.
Blue hour.
-When I see a photo tag with blue hour, I always ask when is the time to catch the blue hour? but never get answered. Well I know now
