Anyone of you who have used the nokia casing that comes with it from the first day.. Have you guys took off the casing once in a while...

I have this problem with this rubber casing causing the original body to have some stain mark all over.. it is like fungus but unable to clean it. So now I have to continue using the rubber case because the original body seems "spoil" already... I'll post a photo if can...but I cant use my hp to capture my hp backside.. tongue.gif mayb using mirror..
*
I second this, i almost died when i saw the stains... not very visible but if you view it in a certain angle then you can see. Not sure what caused it though, the phone has never been to a damp place =/ but whatever it is, i've stopped using the silicon case which comes with it already because somehow, the one that i had the earpiece hole is not align properly

Nokia news release yesterday that the recent roll out on WP7.8 on certain devices and continents are for Developer's machines only and was not meant to be end-consumer release.

The final stable version of WP7.8 will be pushed out as scheduled, next year January.

Still waiting for 7.8
Window said will release it on Jan?
*
true, but they never specify which country first.

if i'm not mistaken, when they launched the previous latest 7.5 firmware update, Malaysia is one of the few last countries to get it so i'm not surprised for the 7.8 that will also be the case.

whatever it is, though i'm very excited to get the new home screen because i will no longer have a very looooong home screen hahaha but other than that, the vital improvements isn't much so yeah, doesn't hurt to wait.

Actually i also wanna try the new home screen, others function i dont know rclxub.gif
*
the new home screen from the looks of it is great because it's like having everything on one same page, sorta like what can be seen i Android and iOS however this is better because of the various sizes, giving it a not so "dead" look. then again, the iconic gap on the right side of the screen is no longer there =(

perhaps the "other features" that i'm really looking forward to try in the 7.8 firmware update is the Bluetooth transfer. That will be utmost convenient. sad thing is that, there is still no orientation lock -.- i can't even read stuffs properly when i'm in bed mad.gif

For me I hope WP7.8 will improve the macro focusing system. Bluetooth file transfer also quite important.
*
no mention on the improvement of camera thought, 7.8 is more to a cosmetic upgrade than anything else =/

Phone just dropped and my touch screen doesn't work. Restarted the phone and it worked for awhile. After that, the touch screen no longer works no matter how many times I restarted. Buttons are still functioning. Is it possible the sensor is damaged?

Anyone experienced this before?

Heard that Amcorp Mall can service it but it will take 3-4 days.
*
Funny how the Lumia is not as durable as how it was represented eh? Mine has minor cracks on the side of the glass when i dropped it from the waistline level whereas those videos posted on youtube shows even being rolled over by car, the phone remains intact -.-

Probably the one they shipped over here has poorer built quality?

Anyway, your issue. The touch screen doesn't work meaning to say it's not responding to gestures or it just doesn't power up?

In any event, if you bring your phone to a Nokia Store for repair, you can ask for a temporary phone in which you'll get the same model for temporary usage until they passed back yours. This is however subject to availability.

Hi shaniandras2787. The touch screen doesn't respond anymore. Worst, last night it was stuck in NOKIA screen.

I brought it to the Nokia Care centre in Amcorp Mall. Very few people in the morning, which is a good time to go. My phone is still under warranty (staff checked imei from phone, no need for warranty card, just bring in case). Staff wanted to lend a temporary phone but my sim card doesn't fit and their phone is half broken so end up no temporary phone borrowed. Gave me a receipt. Software problem should be 3 - 4 days. Hardware problem should be 1 week.

Can check the repair status at http://www.mobiletechnic.com/

They don't have a spare Lumia 800 to lend huh sweat.gif

In any case, good luck!

Let's hope they don't come to a conclusion that whatever damage to the phone is cause by the drop =(

what the best browser other than IE itself?
*
i don't think there's a "best browser" for the Lumia, in fact, i don't think there's any "best browser" for any smart phone for that matter.

"Best" is just a description and it varies from user to user, so as long as the browser does what you want it to do then it's a good browser.

What are you actually looking for in a browser?

I always wonder how you guys lumia 800 battery can last these long... Mine can last this long ONLY if I never on my 3G and just use wifi. If I happened to use whatsapp on 3G for like 20-30 minutes. the phone battery will go down almost 50% and the whole phone super hot.  Anyone has good luck with 3G? End up i am not even on my 3G when I go out because of fearing the battery sucks up too quickly.. so many of my friends will ask me WHY YOU NEVER ON WHATSAPP?? btw.. whatsapp notification in lumia still VERY BAD~

Any special tips to be able to use 3G (with minor/ moderate usage) and can last me throughout a day?
Yeah, without 3G turned on the phone could last up to 3 days (with very minimal usage).

I used to get less than 10 hours but after the latest update on the firmware, now with 3G on, moderate usage of Whatsapp, some internet browsing, rather frequent Facebooking (via the "Friends" feature) and email pushing (hourly), 1 to 2 hours talk time (on average), my phone could last me at least 14 hours now.

I'm afraid of battery being drained but not to the extend like yours having to turn 3G off.

Regarding the heating issue, mine only occurs when i browsing the internet and nothing else.

Why is the Whatsapp notification "very bad" to you? I think it's fine to me.

For me Whatsapp notification only works properly if batt saver is turned off.
*
if i am not mistaken, turning Battery Saver on automatically cuts off certain "push notifications". I know it definitely affects emails but i believe it is also affecting Whatsapp and other data consuming processes. This accounts to the reason why Whatsapp notifications only works when you turn off Battery Saver.

i am particularly impressed by the housefly shot. to be honest, i am still baffled as to how to get a good focus for macro shots especially when the object i intend to shot is small (like the housefly), the lumia 800 seems to have a hard time doing so sad.gif

QUOTE(password8431 @ Dec 18 2013, 09:51 PM)
Anyone has bought a replacement screen+digitizer from ebay and replace a cracked Lumia 800 screen themselves.

I wonder if anyone of you have done it, and still keeping the cracked screen of Lumia 800.

I am thinking of getting just the Front Glass from e-bay and try my hands of separating the cracked glass from the digitizer. Lots of ppl say it is too tedious and risky without the proper tools.

Thinking if anyone would be generous enough to give/sell me their unused cracked Lumia800 screen (whereby the digitizer is still working).

It is just too expensive to buy a replacement screen+digitizer nowadays... >RM180 ...not worthwhile.. might as well get a new phone.
*
if you search properly from ebay, the supplier will supply you the tools together with the screen replacement.

get those with good reviews.

Thx, I use focus lock to take that shot. Focus on something flat (easiest is focus on your palm) by half pressing the shutter button, then move the phone (continue half pressing the shutter) to the fly. That way u can bring the close focus u got from focusing on your palm and move it to the fly.
*
smile.gif that's the same method that i have been using for macro shots but it does seems a little bit :stupid" at times hahaha and because of this extra steps, i sometimes tend to loose out on opportunity shots and whenever that happens, i just want to throw the phone on the concrete floor -.-
