So Q - do I need a screen protector? Kinda dislike the idea. What with the phone already comes with Gorilla Glass and all.

QUOTE(s7ran9er @ Aug 8 2012, 03:32 PM) why hi there Fhaarkas. Ohai! Yeah I kinda know a bit about GG reputation, but this being my first phone and all I'm totally clueless about SP lol. My main concern is responsiveness (critical!) and display colours. Been reading opinions in forums all day now and it looks like for my kind of use I probably won't need a protector. You should see my poor SLVR (fail logic 101 - if you're abusive, don't bother with protecting it since it's gonna end up abused anyway Screen protector? Gorillas glass can withstand a lot of weight and it won't break but they won't promise you it's 100% scratch resistant, sometimes very fine sharp objects will scratch the surface, so best if you can get one. #lessonlearnt I'm thinking about settling with just a pouch. Looks cute too. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(s7ran9er @ Aug 8 2012, 04:38 PM) Responsiveness : Checked Sounds nice. Display Colours: Checked - ClearBlack AMOLED! You can enhance the screen colors better by applying "Clear SP", I dont know about how clear it goes but you have to ask aspire on this since he's using one. I'm on "Diamond SP", which gives you texture and glitter effects when looking at different angle, I kinda like it. Aye, flip case or a pouch may work for you. But I kinda like how my phone looks originally and because of that, the back metal was badly scratched. |

I'm mainly looking for something thin and unnoticeable with full coverage (GadgetShieldz is 0.2mm thick, reportedly has little, if any, of the infamous 'orange peel' effect). How's Zagg? Looks like it costs an arm

QUOTE(danielcmugen @ Aug 11 2012, 02:43 AM) It's fugly lol. Plus some extra protection doesn't hurt, especially considering the rubber case doesn't cover the chrome part. And I also would like to keep the phone as naked as possible.Probably will just order 1 or 2 units from their website in a few days time. Looks like nobody sells it here (well, there's the bulk seller from 2 years ago but I have no idea if he's still in the business.. meh, too lazy to PM him). |

Hey is anybody here using Unifi with stock router? I have been having trouble with wifi connectivity since I hard reset my phone. It sucked before resetting as well, but not this severe.
Most of them are intermittent timeout problems (can't upload pictures, can't update feed, slow download DNS resolution, pages on browser not loading). Data connection is off. Other phones on Android is fine (slow, but just what you'd expect from Unifi stock router). Speed test would fail from time out half of the time. I'll be looking for some other wifi spots tomorrow to test it but I'd just like to hear from those with Unifi router whether you're having the same kind of problems. Been browsing the net and scratching my head for the whole day trying to pinpoint the root. Starting to think my phone is defective. This post has been edited by Fhaarkas: Aug 14 2012, 02:27 AM |

It appears that wifi would be okay for a while if I reboot the phone, but after that it will plunge back into sluggish mode. If this is a Unifi issue, I'm pretty sure there would be some others who've experienced it before.
Gonna test outside and see how it goes now. |

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Aug 14 2012, 11:00 AM) I got 3 windowsphone 1 iPhone 1 iPad 1 htc one x no such issue you mention. Things about connection are unpredictable could be router malfunction due to overheat and even faulty issue if not could be some conflict with some apps in your phone Hey even a Lumia might be defective. It's just a normal phone not a godlike phone. That said, thank you for sharing your experience. Unfortunately, mine is not as nice as yours. Still fiddling with my router settings to see if there's anything can be done about it. And still looking for that other wifi spot to test this bugger on. *grr* Anyway I love challenges like this. Get my brain working hard. Who wants to buy something and has it working right out of the box, right? Pftt, that is so Apple-ish and totally un-geeky. |

Adoi. I'm not saying my phone is faulty. I'm saying I'm not ruling out the possibility until I can confirm it works fine with other routers. Hence asking others' experience with Unifi stock router.
Sorry if I confused you. |

QUOTE(bulkbiz @ Aug 15 2012, 07:06 PM) Same here, you are not alone. I have made some changes to my unifi router and it seems to be better now. I will share what I have configured when I get back home later. That's good to hear. My testing over the past few days also points to router. Please do share your configuration. I have tried wifi from office, the speed was just owesome, it is unifi home router issue .... |

No problem here as well with those using Android and iOS, but apparently WP7 is a bit picky so yeah. Probably just some settings. Thing is this router is TM-developed so one can only imagine the horrors in page 192.168.0.1.

I can confirm my connectivity problem was my router. On kampung's Wifi now and it's working great (2mb streamyx stock router. You TM bastards..). That crappy router for 'Unifi VIP20' at home will find it's way into the dust bin very soon. VIP my hairy ass.

Any tips to reduce noise in low-light? Kinda futile question I know.. just wondering if there's any trick to compensate the poor performance. This is already at ISO 100 and EV -1. Doesn't matter what I set Scene and White Balance to. Is this even normal?
Note: It's not normally this bad. This pic had Saturation and Contrast on high. But it's there even on Normal settings. I find that it goes away a bit when Saturation is set to low (and looks more natural as well) but that's not a real solution. ![]() |

Hey guys. Is this normal? See the noise stripes in this pic. I've noticed this since I got the phone, but I thought it's the camera that sucks. Now that I think about it this looks kinda out of place because I saw aspire's low light shots on Lumia 900 and they don't seem to have this kind of stripes. Still noisy, but not bad like this.
Edit: You can see it in my other shot above as well. Look at the right side of the picture. ISO 100 ![]() This post has been edited by Fhaarkas: Aug 28 2012, 09:27 PM |
