i don't really think this "conning" is the only thing that drives people away from magic. malaysia is just generally too competitive and the only formats that are played are just type 2 and drafts. i find a lot of casual players are turned off by this competitive/ "conning" environment.

EDIT: best way to not get conned is to ask people around you for an opinion. i find that a lot of people are afraid to ask for second or third opinions because of some kind of malaysian face thing. most of the time people who are watching the trade (like me) won't say anything because they are not asked. and if you're ever in doubt over a trade don't do it, it's better to lose 10 good trades than make 1 bad one.

The tournament will be held as soon as we announced the venue. As normal, minimum of 8 players are needed. We have a temporary venue which will be held in Novelhut, Midlands Park Shopping Complex. Meanwhile it's not finalized till the due date.

The cost to draft will be RM30 per person. Depending on how cheap we can get our boosters. There will not be any profit from these boosters and the cost you are paying is only to bear the booster packs' costs.

This tourney is to promote new players in MTG in Penang. If there are more pros joining the tourney then we will have an extra event which is specially for the pros. This game will be seperated from the newbie games and there will be special prizes and also different costs pertaining to the normal draft. The reason why this is being done is to allow newbies to gain experience and also giving them chance for exposure to draft.

There will also be guidance given to those who are new in drafting. Remember than this event is sanctioned and you will be in the chance to earn your rewards points as well.

Just call me Dennis. Anyway I'm not sure if I have seen you over there. Though the players there are so good and normally draft I would have been knocked out during the first few rounds. I often do stupid mistakes when I get perfect combos.

I'm just helping my friend to find people for the tourney startup. He's also ordering new DCI membership cards book for issuing as well as his needed updates. If you are interested come join the fun. No harm though, I'm sure your binder have lots of cool stuffs that I love to see.

hmm the market rite now still values the beta higher as Beta cards are more easily playable in tournaments then alpha ones. Due to the design difference...
