QUOTE(lepakboy @ Feb 12 2007, 08:21 AM)
Its simple as it stops more than just Orim's Chant
It stops Scepter , TEPS, Heartbeat Desire / Evermind, Boros, CAL decks, Egg

MGA (Mono Green Aggro) have the benefit of mana acelerators in the form of Birds and Elves. Their turn 3 drops are some of the best in the game. Troll, Call of the Herd.

When you're mono green you have 0 .. I repeat 0 ways to stop combo / Control. How do you stop a scepter chant lock once they've establish it? Naturalize? I doubt it'll resolve because they have Counterbalance / Hard Counters to make sure of that. Once that's online you're screwed.

How do you beat TEPS ? you Win turn 5 usually and they win turn 4 70% ? You can't duress them and you can't land D either. So Chalice is a must

Obviously you have to set it right against the right decks.

VS Heartbeat (Nevermind only) / TEPS / Cal decks, Scepter Chant a Chalice for "2" is almost always leathal.

It stops *Right of the top of my head cause its late in the UK*
Burning Wish
Living Wish
Life from the Loam
Cabal Ritual
Isochron Scepter
Naturalize/Disenchant
Lightning Helix
Volcanic Hammer
Umezawa's Jitte
Brain Freeze
Meddling Mage
Counter Spell/ Mana Leak

That one card deals with SO many that it is an auto inclusion in almost every aggro deck and ESPECIALLY Green because of its mana acelerants.

Setting Chalice for "0" also kills Morph creatures and moxes / lotus blooms

If you can name me one other card that can do that much that can be played in every deck without splashing colours. I'll be more than happy to change biggrin.gif

I just saw an MGA running 4 breeding pools mainboard and 4x Trickbind's in the sideboard. My friend just finished 9th ironically at the recent PTQ after losing out to a TEPS which went off on turn 3 twice. He was running the normal Flow Rock.

Hi guys,
I am wondering whether is there is any place where I can get a RM 10 booster pack?

By the way, is there anyone selling Booster Box through pos?
Do PM me.
Thanks.

Added on March 5, 2007, 1:40 amStill here in Singapore eventhough the GP has just finished. Looks like Domain Zoo dominated both Dallas and Singapore. Rafael Levy became one of the very few players to win back to back GP . Seriously , what an accomplishment.

Highest standing malaysian is Mohd Hafiz Hashim with USD$300 earnings. My friend actually finished day 1 placed #65 thus missing day 2 by 1 rank. He was tied at 18 points with alot of the other players only to lose out on tie-breakers because he had lost his opening round. With a stroke of luck someone in the top 64 was disqualified and that gave my friend USD$100 for finishing top 64 without even having to play a match in day 2.

The next regional event will be the Grand Prix Bangkok which is supposed to be happening some time towards the end of this year. From what I have read / heard it is supposed to be Sealed deck of the new set yet to be released.

Holi^oNe, you didn't tell us how you did at the SG GP. Go on, give us a round by round update. Perhaps some info about upcoming decks? The GP coverage on the wizards site was seriously lacking. What decks did you play and was the 'new' Balacing Tings deck any good?

As for Domain Zoo .... I'm still apprehensive about running one myself because in testing it does really badly against Trinket Angel or any counterbalance decks thanks to its low mana cost.
*
I didn't play the main event since most of the card pool went to the in-house players of the shop. I actually made a locket-combo deck , but I had problems getting the sideboard cards and I wasn't really confident of playing in the main event. I did however join in for the Super FNM sealed deck. I was actually 2-1 into the 4th and final round. I gave away the win which would have got me into top8 for the booster draft. Reason being was that it was close to 8pm when the 4th round ended , 3 of my friends have yet to check-in to the hotel and I had to catch my brother before 11pm to get into his place since he had to work late that night.

I only watched the main event sporadically , I didn't really see the balancing things deck work , during the grinders players who didn't get their 3 round bye's were running all kinds of decks in each of the flights. I saw variants of a few popular decks such as :

Dirty Kitty
TEPS
U/G Oppo Elf
Flow Rock
U/W UrzaTron Slaver
8-post Slaver
Domain Zoo
BDW
BeatSticks
TrinketAngel
Affinity
etc etc

I can't really give the breakdown of the highest win percentage decks because I know of too many close matches with different decks up against each other. The one thing I know for sure is that the majority of the BDW / Domain Zoo which made day 2 had the advantage of the 3 round byes.

that's why I say even with the rotation, it won't affect domain zoo that much. Fetchlands from Oddysey, Shocklands from Rav.
*
Actually the next extended rotation will take out the fetchlands. Losing fetchlands will effect Domain Zoo VERY much. A 5 colour mana base without the ability to mana fix itself will be a pain in the ass. Also without the fetchlands you can't possibly thin your deck fast enough. The 2 main reasons why almost everyone uses fetchlands is extended / vintage / legacy is :

1) The ability to mana fix
2) The ability to thin the deck , thus giving you the chance to top deck game impacting cards as opposed to drawing land.

Oh ya , rumour has it that in Future Sight , WoTC might be planning something crazy like offering us Enemy Fetchlands ~! Let's hope this rumour turns out to be true , I have a feeling it's going to be something like Apocalypse thumbup.gif

If I qouted wall at RM15 I'm sure got people lari. Market should be fixed at RM10-12 the most. RM15 just plain expensive.

I sold most of my harmonize RM4 when just stocked on PC rclxub.gif . Now double the price

teh part abt jap cards is purely grographical...
if you are in Japan. english cards are rated higher. Bt we weird asians rate Jap cards much higher ... its a matter of supply and demand lar
*
Actually , the japanese are rating their cards higher than english ones at the moment. I was told that the English booster costs less than the Japanese ones in Japan already. I think what you said was true up until a couple of years back. Last time they would rate definitely rate the english cards higher , one of the reasons was the japanese travel so much to play tourneys that they always ran into trouble with the rules and stuff like that and needed to get translation , so it was best to use english cards while traveling from one GP / PT to another. (Knowing the Japanese and their Deck Techs using the wierd cards)

O.o ok...
sounds stable...
orchish artilery would be good to add in since it provide draws for more burns...
oh ya u playing magus of the scroll also???
*
You don't want to play Orcish Canonade in that deck simply because you will take too much damage yourself....

If you meet with another burn deck , chances are you will die before he does. The reason why boros could run 4x char and get away with it was all because of Helix.
Being Red / Blue with 8 self-damage spells and the possiblity of running painlands doesn't leave you with the option of playing orcish cannonade... If I really wanted to incorporate a card into a deck like his , it would be Electrolyze. My 2 cents anyway smile.gif

Not much point playing magus of the scroll , since blue will be providing the draw power. I think magus of the scroll only fits in a few decks , boros and mono-red snow , mono-red TBC since these decks the hand empties pretty fast and you don't normally have mana curve higher than 3.

Need to sort my cards one of these days, and get myself a trade folder.

Just dropped by to inform that our store Manawerx Trading has successfully been relocated. We are now open for business. Thanks to everyone who have supported us ~!

Lepakboy , do you have a decklist for the deck you're playtesting ? might wanna test it out. Somehow mono-blue / mono-red seems very popular for block at the moment.

I don't know how it works but I've been seeing quite a lot of Gibbering Descent in sideboards for Mono Black. Anyone knows why ?

Magus of the Future and Shivan Wumpus!

That'll work
*
Not a bad idea , but you'll need tons of mana to pull it off. The magus is also UUU which is kinda hard to set up a mana base.

Mono red can splash blue for Psionic Blast, I don't see why a Mono Blue can't splash red for Shivan Wumpus.  laugh.gif  laugh.gif
*
I think he had a Land-D theme in the first place. So I naturally guessed that his main colour would be red , since in the current environment Red / Green has the most Land-D potential. That being the case , I assumed that the blue would be his secondary colour thus making the UUU difficult to achieve. Unless of course he is would be going for disruption e.g. bounce permanents.

well mono blue can splash red easily...
after all wumpus need only one R mana rite (if i'm not wrong)...

any1 trying make a mono green aggro deck with magus of the vineyard?
lots of potential...
can turn 2 harmonize and so on...
*
I think as much as the Vineyard can help turbo your deck , it can probably help turbo your opponent too. Keep in mind that unless you flash the Vineyard out end of the turn , your opponent will have access to the mana first. Another thing to note is currently the environment is full of morph creatures which makes it easier for people to use up the 2 additional mana you provided them.

Of course if you opponent is heavy on control he will probably take 2 points of mana burn each turn laugh.gif

Heya, wish i could supply the list but the dude who was playtesting for the PTQ has gone off to America lol. He was only on a part time course here in the UK. My other mates are instead testing for nationals. I will see if i can contact the dude via E-mail and see if i can grab the list for ya.

Just wanted to ask that as a store do you support other formats such as legacy / more casual forms such as highlander? Just curious
*
No problem regarding the lists. Klang Valley tournament scene currently following Mike Toh's calender. Currently it's alternating between TBC and Type 2 for the coming months , or at least that's what I've been told.

As a store , as much as I hope to support the eternal formats , the fact of the matter is the card pool available locally is so limited that it's currently not feasible to try and organize anything. I seriously think the number of active magic players who have access to Duals / P9 / Fetches can be counted in both hands. Personally I've been trying to complete a vial-goblins deck but I'm having trouble to even achieve that due to the fact I have to source for cards overseas sad.gif

most players around kl play what type? t2?
*
Competitive players around Klang Valley normally playtest according to Micheal Toh's Tournament schedule. For the next 2 months it will be alternating between Time Spiral Block Constructed and Standard Type 2.

Next upcoming event is June 24th for PTQ Valencia (Time Spiral Block Constructed) @ Tournament Centre SS15.

Casual / Competitive players around Klang Valley will usually have a Type 2 deck for joining FNM's also.
