- The Japanese government will conduct its own feasibility studies on KL-Singapore high speed train project

- They want to try to help Japanese firms to enter this project

- One of which, Japanese government may provide financing through JBIC (Japan Bank for International Cooperation) should JR East or JR Central wins the project

- It is estimated that KL-Singapore high speed train line length will be 400 km, journey time of 90 minutes, compared to current rail service which now takes 7 hours

- Greater KL has 7 million people while Singapore has 5 million people

Not sure, as government keep saying this project is in feasibility study...

However, it seems Japan is willing to try any possible way just to win project, this includes conducting own feasibility study as well as providing financing as well to start project.

Just like what they do for India hmm.gif

Brain drain? Not so.

It will actually keep money flowing more within Malaysia.

This will allow Singaporean companies to set up business subsidiary in KL as KL has lower cost.

It will also help Malacca.

Not all money will stay in Msia...Most likely you are required to hire a big Japanese contractor to do the work so the money eventually flows back to Japan...that's how they do business, they veli smart wun....

Added on May 25, 2012, 3:31 amAECOM is already studying the JB-Singapore MRT. This part of it?

AECOM has been selected to do study on JB-Singapore MRT.

JB-Singapore MRT is unrelated to KL-Singapore high speed line.

I don't mind Japanese contractor, because at the end of the day, we get the high speed line and at the end of the day, you still need local companies as sub contrctor.

Ah, that one is not high speed train. Those Hyundai Rotem trains (for Ukraine) only 180 km/h.
