Hi

I have a dark room in my single storey house. Anyone has any ideas of how this room can be renovated to get more light into the room. It has low ceiling and currently there are also windows(within house) which does not give much light to the room during the day. It is the last room in the house and also shares the kitchen wall.

Thanks.

If it a single storey, you can get a tubular skylight instal. The light will guide from the rooftop down into your room.

You need to consider air ventilation. Last time we stay in a single story semi-d, and my room together with my sibling sleep there. We always fall sick, and no matter what we eat or supplement we eat still fall sick. Than a TCM came or house, he say our room vent no good, so he recommend use vent fan to pull fresh air into our room, also need to ensure outside windows near the room is open.

After that we seldom fall sick.

There are about 2 ventilation fans on our roof currently.

Thanks Ozak for the link. Yes, we are considering skylight. Anyone know the cost of it in Taiping? How about monier tiles?
Is it worth getting compare to the tubular skylight?

on the roof.

There are also termites in this room, so we have got to get someone to settle it and than see to the skylight of the room. dark rooms are more termite prone.

I think that is not electrical fan, is a vent only. What I mean is electrical vent fan in the room. Because even you have roof vent your room air is circulation the old air, putting ceiling vent will force the old air our and pull the fresh air in.

If the room is for storage ifs ok. if got peoples sleeping, I recommend put one i, for the benefit of person sleeping there. Vent offside cannot help circulate room air.
