how do you people do 'small chat'? i mean, do you have to think about coming up with questions like 'what did you do yesterday' or does it come naturally?

anyway my skill of small chat actually is not that bad since i learned over the time and 26 years is a plenty of time    . i just can't bring myself to stand it. i dunno. they look pointless.

are there any benefits to be gained from small chats? i mean like does it serve to strengthen your bond with friends? (i imagine it does, but i never felt it so i need a 2nd opinion)

not overthinking. i either have to pretend im interested in doing a pointless thing or i can just stay cold and unnerve everyone.

i do all this subconsciously. most of the time people would come up to me and ask all these mundane questions like "where did you study" and "where you're from". i would answer honestly and concisely depending on how much do i think you should know. i never ask back. i would pretend to ask, but i'd forget what you tell me in a heartbeat (not really. maybe after a day or two if your information is really interesting). if the conversation drags on and you're not my personal friend (or even if you are) i'd be all anxious with the time wasting.

anyway got my answer. i guess normal people do it naturally huh. hmm.

hm let's rephrase - trivial things. you know, small talk (yes talk not chat. sorry wrong phrase lol). people do small talk at parties, with their neighbours, their colleagues, guys, girls, everyone. it applies to both online and real world, only the sets of questions are different.
