i had this issue on day 1 when ICS was rolled out. can check my posts...

anyway, a factory reset should do the trick. i did it on day 1 itself and phone was no longer hot and the drain was gone. but the pain of having to reinstall everything... well, its worth it la for me. and dun forget to backup your data before you do the factory reset.

however, this morning... after i swapped sim card (just to test something), my battery drain issue came back. i've just posted with screenshot. without any extra apps, it would seem like Line apps is causing the problem. i'll update later this morning...

uninstalled LINE and charging via battery can see the battery level go up. previously, with line, battery was still being drained or just at same level.

then...
#1. install Samsung Kies. you can download it from samsung website. go to samsung.com.my --> mobile phones --> support --> downloads --> software. please dun get confused with Kies Air on the phone. this Samsung Kies is a software you need to install on your PC (Windows/ Mac).
#2. after installing and updating your Samsung Kies (it will prompt you for update), then plug in your phone and let Kies detect your phone.
Note: Till today, I still find Samsung Kies to be a painful software to use. Most of the time, it's quite bad and don't really do the job its supposed to do...
#3. once your phone is detected, it will inform you that there is a new firmware for your phone (if your set is official MY set). OK to install the firmware... but of course... you need lots of luck. i had to try 2-3 times before i finally got the the firmware upgraded... issues includes download stopping halfway...

things to note:
* on Kies... once download starts... it will say phone not detected/ connected
* sometimes the % may seem like it stopped... just be patient. however, it it stays at the same % after 60mins, then safe to say... you probably need to restart the process

if you can wait... then just wait for OTA. you can also check from your phone for the OTA by...
* settings --> about phone --> check update

got pay bill or not?

no problem with u mobile data this morning in KL. i was using it at about 7-830am. in fact, i was surprised still got data since my SIM card is a prepaid one and supposed to expire back in march. tried the card to see if its still active... then go topup.

see-see... voice calls barred... but got data wor... so... apa lagi... use la... heh heh... later will top up.

but this is a nice loophole. i use my u mobile for data only anyway... so. voice barred, ok la... i dun care. i get super powderful speed (compared to digi).

i was only half kidding when i asked about the pay bill... lol...

if the kies is a pain... and you can wait... i really do suggest you just wait for OTA. once it gets downloaded to your phone (if based on previous minor updates), you should get a prompt on the phone that you have new software update. it's really less painful.

on my notebook, kies causes a lot of problems, including giving BSOD to Windows. so i have to actually uninstall kies after use... *sigh*

I heard from some that its already OTA?!? can't confirm since i'm already on ICS now..

i think maybe we can put this on Page 1... or maybe its there already...

if battery drain is ridiculous, then just do a factory reset. i had the same issue and a factory reset almost did the trick. this morning, i had the same problem again. check about 10 pages back or so... i found out it was Line causing this...

how to check phone/ battery temperature without having to install apps...

use keypad and dial: *#*#4636#*#*

mine works fine... reinstalled after factory reset.

dunno having the meter is really a good thing or not since we'll always be looking at it... and it will drop 1% every 5 mins or so...

but the bar is so inaccurate...

*sigh*

noticed that on the stock ICS ROM, stock video player and even mobo player lags a bit when playing 1080p videos, even those recorded by the phone. lag happens when the on screen menu (like seek bar) disappears.

lag is very obvious cause even wife noticed it and commented the new software (she meant ICS) seems to slow down my phone... *sigh*

hmmm... seems like Nova launcher got good reviews here... i might wanna try out the free version first...
