Just saw Maxis promo for their Fibre lines, 118 for 10Mbps downline, unlimited quota. Anyone have any experience playing WoW on Maxis Fibre lines connecting to US servers?

Are you on streamyx or unifi currently ?

I switch between Straemyx 4Mbps and Yes4G for WoW and Diablo 3. When my mum/dad/sis youtubing, can't play at all so I switch to Yes4G until they stop On Streamyx I get about 210ms, Yes4G about 280ms, US servers.

I am getting about 202ms for WoW on UniFi. Anyhow my recommendation is to use QoS , to prioritize gaming compared to youtube

Currently, I'm paying RM88 for 4Mbps (college package some years back), but Maxis is offering 10Mbps for RM118, which is really quite affordable for the bandwidth increase. But I'm more worried about latency with Maxis FTTH as I'm no longer on Streamyx contract, I can cancel my subscription any time (although RM88 price still continues). Extra RM20 for x2.5 the bandwidth, I don't see why not. Only concern remains is the latency

Well you could give it a go if you like. The latency should be reduced anyway , even for unifi the latency hovers around 190ms-230ms !

But getting stuck on 2 years contract for a line that can potentially be worse than my Streamyx is not very appealing ):

Wow this is very good. Tbh, no matter how sucky streamyx is it is more stable than the over 30Mbps line of my other wow raiders who stays in Hong Kong and Singapore. They often get frequent disconnections on their fast line whereby I'm still standing lol. Hence, we no longer raid 25man and do 10man. It always a wipe when they all dc'ed together. Probably because of their pop density so the port gets overload idk. Now that im seeing this I know I make the right decision on Unifi vs FTTH.

latency is not affected by speed at a certain point when data transfer is not the bottleneck.

It is. I just installed Unifi today. Well, for a start Youtube is very fast I can watch 1080p and watch the buffered speed going faster than the viewing speed and I no longer have to manually select 360p just so it won't auto switch to 480p whenever I click full screen.

BUT Diablo III?? I won't say I am happy yet. Sure the minimum latency is lower and can get below 240ms but in some instance it can get to over 1k ms. The streamyx was stable at 350ms - 450 ms. Green/yellow but never ventured into red territory not unifi though.

Ok I just reactivate my account to test out uniFi. Latency is green bar on LFR. Can go until 206ms but spiky. Plenty of short intermittent spikes like 2 to 3 seconds. Playing it on US peak time.

I don't know how to explain this in detail, but I think you need to google up about bandwidth speed and bandwidth capacity.

Having a bigger capacity doesn't mean your connection can be fast.
But a faster bandwidth can be faster even if you are just using a 1mb line.

AFAIK, Maxis' routing is still through TM since they are the main in MY.
I guess there will be no different, I would stick to your RM88 unifi if I were u.

Just some example (Downloading a movie from US):
10mbps - means average download speed can be reach 10mb, but if the routing and line to that US server that you're downloading is slow.. Then u might just capped at 512kbps.

1mbps - your average download speed can be as high as 1mb, and if the connection and routing is good, you will be getting a stable and firm 1mb all the time.

So far from my gaming experience, the data packets being sent by host server are usually very small. (maybe less than 200kbps)
But it is the routing/connecting that could not handle even for this small little packets. Thanks to TM =)
