E-PL5 vs E-PM2.. the tilting screen. Is it that important? I don't want to buy already then bang balls later...
Gonna use the camera for travel mostly...

QUOTE(adamismadi @ Dec 12 2012, 09:29 PM) I am using epl5. To me its important for shooting low at ground level or even waist level. Any issues for you handling the camera? My hands are big, when I hold it with my right hand, thumb rubbing the screen's protruding edge. Of course I believe with a neck strap I'll feel more secure if it ever slips out...If u need to take a self photo then a flip screen is a must. Epm2 has less buttons than epl5 also. Very happy with the camera but white balance can be quite crazy at times. Skin tones reproduction can be a bit off due to that i think. Other than that very happy with my epl5!!! |

QUOTE(tcm7782 @ Dec 31 2012, 02:49 PM) best advice ever. I'll be getting my Olympus E-PM2 soon. Choose it over E-PL5 because I want to save money for lens, and later buy a better body...more importantly I don't like the protruding flip screen on E-PL5 in my hands. |

after fooling around with the epm2 for an hour.. things to note
1. it is damn light.. one handed operation is easily possible. 2. despite not having physical control for P/A/S/M.. if you get used to it, it can be easily programmed for short cut keys and the dial pad behind. 3. i really need a view finder 4. the kit lens make the camera "un-pocketable", a pancake will put it on part with most high end P&S size wise. the 14-42mm II R kit lens is really.. protruding. |

manual focusing quite hard with liveview, since oly/pana don't have focus peaking.. unless you use the oly art filter to do it.

EPM-2 w/kit lens. Haven't taken pictures with a proper camera in the last 10 years...Kit lens is also pretty piss poor..IMO. Quickly learned that I need a smaller lens, and a faster lens as well. Panny 14mm and 25mm here I come.
Auto ISO always selects 1600 zzz. Too aggressive IMO. ![]() Long Shan Temple by ixeo, on Flickr ![]() Fishes by ixeo, on Flickr ![]() Taipei 101 by ixeo, on Flickr Critics, suggestions welcomed. |

QUOTE(kenary820 @ Feb 8 2013, 08:05 AM) kitlens is ok..but i feel the pana have better build than the oly..if you love to do landscape i would suggest to get a uwa..i like uwa for landscape cos of the distortion..the only downside m43 uwa is so damn xpensive compare to dslr version..the other option is fisheye like samyang..however imho the uwa is versatile compared to fisheye.. Agreed, the Panasonic 7-14mm is really good lens, and the pricing reflects that. Too rich for my blood! I don't use UWA so often. We need some competition from Sigma and Tamron to drive the price down. |

QUOTE(pakutekan @ Feb 12 2013, 12:25 PM) Planning to jump ship.. From Nikon dslr to mirrorless camera as now I don't have time to make money using my dslr.. Can't found thread for other brand Nikon/canon mirrorless coz I saw Nikon j1/v1 quite cheap.. you in wrong thread boss. this is for micro 43rds. recommend you look at the Olympus OMD EM5 as a DSLR replacement. Lens lineup more mature for m43rd. If you got the money, go get Fuji system and their delicious lens. |

Just got a P14 lens.. on Olympus EPM2..the size is awesome. Makes me wonder why people go and buy stuff like X100 for more money. hmm.
Downside is.. CA is very apparent even when stopped down, I guess for Panasonic body its fine. If you plan to take JPEGS, then P14 lens with Olympus body is a big no no.. but if you do PP, then CA is no issue as it can be corrected. Only got it on Monday, haven't went anywhere to take pictures yet. |
