Guys, appreciate your advise...
I have a GF3 with 14-42mm kitlens and the 14mm pancake.
I normally do food photog (easy maaa everyday go eat), some portraits and bits of streets/landscapes during travelling.

Does the 25mm enough for an upgrade? Specially for my needs.
Or the 14mm is already enough?

I guess the main drawback for GF3 is the built-in flash. Any GF3 users here got the solution for this?

Thanks all in advance!

I try to give my humble opinion, since you got the 14-42, twist the focal length to 25mm, try to see if you like the length. If you like, then by upgrading you get sharper image + f1.4 which is quite a big help during low light and some good bokeh.
One good part of 14mm is its close focus distance where it is very useful for your food photography.
*
Ahhh true also. Will try the focal length 25mm and see.

I guess for 14mm, its just too wide for my liking. But probably useful when shoot landscape. Will try shooting with it until I'm sure with myself.

I probably need an all rounder like the 14-42mm but the sharper ones are humongously expensive.\

Anyway, appreciate your tips NISMOgan! biggrin.gif

u r most welcome bro, many sifus around I not dare to talk loud tongue.gif
for my experience I also almost wanna buy that 14-140 for all rounder travel lens, same for 14-42 really very convenient, but once we use prime lens, feel not like using those... sigh....... really unbalanced.

I still loves my 14mm altho mostly used now is 25mm hehe, 14mm has got its own good too. Maybe u shall try the 25mm focal length first hehee but to me sometime shooting food, cant be too near, the composition is limited, unless u crop the pic later smile.gif
*
Tried the 25mm focal length just now. I think Im more comfortable with my 14mm. So Im keeping it lah for now.

But the f1.4 for the 25mm is veryyy tempting. Sigh.

the flash right..i shoot it while tilting the flash upwards a little bit...so make it a bounce flash lar...but i rarely use flash lar...grab that 25mm pancake you rarely use flash...
the 14-42 kit i also rarely use...bit bulky...
food photography? grab this!
Samyang 7.5mm Fisheye for MFT
superb sharp...now i use this more than the pancake...
*
For flash, im thinking of getting the Yongnuo LEDs. I guess I got it sorted out.
Fisheye? Nice but nvm then. Going to stick with my 14mm for now.
Thanks bro!!! smile.gif

But then again I feel both has its own good, I usually bring both of this out for a simple day out hehe

25mm will still be on my next buy list. The latest would be next week, that is, if I dont have other commitments.

the 14mm quite sharp also ma, can last u long time for sure b4 u get that hehhee, happy family planning
*
Yes the 14mm is sharp. But I want sharper. Hehe. Not sure if I can tahan not buying the 25mm now.
I guess having both 14mm and 25mm is sufficient already.
Next might want a zoom lens. More pocket burn.

that fotogears' boss sell me at rm1000...nego from rm1080...is a beefy and solid manual lens..matching with OM-D would be nice as both having metallic build...
me using GF3...kinda bit problem when focusing...having to tap screen and check the sharpness on corner but the gain is sharp from edge to edge...
*
Hello fellow GF3-ian. Hehe.

Anywhoo... I'm getting the 25mm after all. wink.gif

Sharper or not, at the end of the day, its whichever focal lenght that you want.

i bought my gf3 and oly peeps said its a girls camera worr.. with its limitation, no hotshoe etc, its still the "best" camera i had even to my D90 for its compactness and ability to shoot "great" photos.
of coz cant really beat DSLRs (as we discussed alot).. its still a quality compact for me.

btw, so many poisons in m43 fb group. hope can tahan. lol.

*
Prolly same color as mine. Maroon right? It was indeed a hassle to shoot at dark but I kinda overcome it with diffuser (to the built flash) and LED light. Hows yours?

night time sure problem with the 'advance' phase contrast detection mode...if i shoot at night, i carry a nikon SB-800...manual timing...
trade off lor using this body...but i can put it anyway especially pocket...no need another bag..quick for street photo..
one thing i dun like the video quality seems like bit no good...compared to D7000, i mean the visual quality not really appealing, sound also bit cacat...

sample vid capture with GF3...

LOL ok. Correction, mine is brown color. Looks like maroon at certain angle.
Was thinking of getting the 3rd party-manual flash aswell but I bought an LED light instead. Maybe later2 la.
Video is so-so for me before. But with my new 25mm f1.4, got alot of improvements. Sound wise, built-in is mono what. If audio is one of your main concern, I suggest to buy separate audio recorder like Zoom H1.
I bought Zoom H2n early this year. Was hoping to use it for music gigs/shows, but suddenly bz with other stuff. Sigh.
