More public transport could be on the way – the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) is looking into a tram system for Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, Kajang and Bangi, The Star reports.

According to SPAD chief executive officer Mohd Azharuddin Mat Shah, the proposed 53 km network of tram lines would be linked to the MRT 1 line in Kajang, as well as the MRT 2 line and High Speed Rail lines. The most recent addition to the rail transit line in the Klang Valley was the opening of the 1 Utama shopping centre link to the Bandar Utama MRT station.

“We have submitted this to the Government and it has given us approval to initiate a request for proposal (RFP) exercise. We’ve not decided when the RFP will be ready, but it will be within the next three to six months – SPAD has conducted the feasibility studies, we know the network and the areas to cover,” the SPAD CEO said[SIZE=14]
