I'll agree with what [PF] T.J. said. A G55 will suit you best. And with ur current budget, i doubt you'll be able to get a G75.

Please note that G55 has a mSATA bay located deep inside its body. And it's not your regular SSD. Trying to access it will results in your warranty being voided. I think the lenovo y580 stands off as a better deal now.

ouch~~~~!
that's not good..

btw, i wanna ask what's the price of the G55 non 3d if I wanna upgrade it straight to 8GB RAM together?
and N55 i7 price?

when is the Y580 coming out? I found that there's not much information regarding this laptop now. I can't even search it in Lenovo website. >.<

Since G55 already comes with a 4gb RAM, and some sellers may just give a free 4gb RAM upgrade. But it depends la. Plus, RAM is not expensive. A 4gb RAM 1333mhz would cost about rm60-80. While a 4gb RAM 1600mhz would cost around rm100+. G55 comes with a default Hyundai 4gb RAM 1600mhz.

N55 i7 price is around rm3.4-3.6k (manage to find one selling for 3.3k but that is months ago) besides, i think the new N56 is already coming out. Replacing the current N55 in the stores. So i'm not sure if the N55 would still be available. But i can tell you that there will not be an increase in price. Should be around 3.5-3.6k

i dont know when will it be available. There are no news about the new y580 yet, if you need a laptop asap. Dont wait for it laugh.gif

i guess you got a point there~
since n55 i7 2nd gen processor already cost 3.4-3.6k, add in another 100/200 already can get g55 i7 ivy bridge..
i guess i shall get the G55 instead. O.o

btw, i saw another model seems quite okay. ASUS A53. Any comments on it? O.o

Initially i was going for the N55, but after i realized that the G53sx (this was before the G55 was released) i opted for that instead since it gives me a better bang of the buck. Plus, i need a strong portable machine to support my softwares (architecture student) now im currently waiting for my G55 to arrive.

and I have a friend who is using the A43. Solid laptop, good performance. But resolution is only HD. If you dont mind it. Then check it out. But its an old laptop though, came out last year.

thanks for the opinion.
but my desire to get the G55 is stronger. hahaha.
i guess G55 will be more worthy and just 100-200 more expensive.

as i'm hardware noob, i still having some doubt about the hardware differences.
such as for:
VRAM, there's DDR and GDDR.
VGA, there's GTX and GT
CPU, 2nd gen and 3rd gen.

confuse confuse~~~~  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

CPU - 2nd gen is the Sandy bridge processor while the 3rd gen is the Ivy bridge processor. Ivy bridge is the newer processor just only been released. They're smaller in size and more efficient in power saving and slightly faster than its predecessor. The newer laptops are now equipped with the latest 3rd gen CPU

Generally, for gpu GTX is better than GT. But Diablo 3, a GT gpu can support it given that you're not playing it in ultra high settings. Like GT 635 in the N55.

Cannot comment on DDR and GDDR. Not very sure myself.

I have no idea seriously. It's been more than 2weeks now. But i cant do anything since the asus g series has always been so limited. Keep track for any stores that are selling the G55, new stock should be available by this week.

I would remind you that it really takes a long time for the G55 to come. But unless you're lucky, like a few of the owners in G series thread got it within few days of wait. Look out for sellers in LYN and retail stores that may carry it. I regretted my decision for paying the deposit early thinking that i'll get it fast. I was dead wrong laugh.gif
