Hi! There! Planning to register "buku merah" for the unborn, in case of complication, which private hospitals may not want to accept?

Anyone know the procedure? Have to be there very early?

Can anyone share the experience? Thanks alot.

I am planning to go to the Poliklinik Kelana Jaya, which is nearest to my house.

The red book is only given out by government clinics, which in your case yes Klinik Kesihatan. I would advice you to get the booking done in a government clinic, it is ok if you wish to continue your subsequent checkups at a private center, unless you've decided to deliver at a private center.

If not it would be better to get the booking done at a KK because if you need to deliver at a government hospital, that would make things easier for the doctors there. Hope it helps.

Yeah, have to be there very early. Usually Klinik Kesihatan (some of them now called Klinik 1Malaysia) opens at 8am and the queue will start as early as 7am outside the Klinik doors.

What my friend did was she went once when she was 7 months into her pregnancy, and got a referral to the Government Hospital Obs (Klinik Ibu) wing from the KK, FYI, if get referral letter from KK to be admitted or to consult any specialist in Government hospital, the registration fee is waived for each visit. She visited the hospital obs once and then labour came two months later, admitted with minimal hassle. Hope it helps! (Total bill less than RM40, natural birth).

I went to Klinik Kesihatan here in Puchong. I hv same intention s u. Just to get d pink book. U hv to be early or they will ask u to come back later in d evening or d next day. My KK was a small 1. D 1st time i went there, they gave me an appointment date 2weeks later. 2 weeks later then, on my 1visit, came at 9, n was entertained at 1230 (just to meet d nurses). But i was satisfied s they test my urine & took my blood fr full blood test. The nurse brief me on what food t eat, what to avoid, get lots of rest n bla2. They gave me obimin & iron & gave me another app next week t c d dr. 2visit, i came at 9, met a very young dr at 1245 fr 5mins. She didnt talk much. Performed an ultrasound, n then thats it. When d nurse call me t set up another app, i told her i wanna continue my checkup in private hosp.. They were ok with dat s long s i inform them once ive deliver.

this..

based on my experience, we did go to both, KK and private.. Our reasons were :-

1) we want to have much advises as we could (nurse and doctors at KK, OnG Specialist at private)
2) medicine-free! at KK
3) just in case, if my wife needs to deliver the baby at government hospital

but at KK, bare in mind you need to take annual leave for that... there will be a loooong queue... so what we did were, we set the appointment to be held at 2 PM, so we just need to take half day leave... and also, during the 3rd trimester, you may need to seek for consultation for every 2 weeks, and then every week until deliver..

congratz!

kepoh a bit i have not call up the Klinik Kesihantan in Seremban was thinking to go as well. my wife's friend also advised her to go (reason same like you all mentioned just to get registered and obtained the pink book) so that next time just in case can go gov hospital to deliver. so in order to go there, we have to go register early then wait for them to give us another date for check up? just want to be clear as i need to plan my leaves

sure can..as long u have been following up all ur prenatal check-ups at KK before delivering the baby at private. Which means, u suppose to have a 'buku merah'. If u don have one, jst bring ur baby's appoinmnt book (normally given at all privates once baby born) to KK, n register ur baby wit KK for subsequent injections wit the governmnt clinic. smile.gif

My wife went to Seri Kembangan Poliklinik..service quite good. went there 8.30, many people already in q. but manage to finish everything before 11.30. still can go to work before 12. service quite good. if you are the first person arrive, you can go back to home before 9. for urin test, it will take around 5-8 minutes only.. some more, they give obimin instead of normal vitamin and supplement..all klinik kesihatan provide ultrasound service also.but normal ultrasound only. not 3d ultrasound..
