My 2 cents. I have not played WoW before and so I do no understand the nature of that game. I have however played Diablo 2 for many many years and made many casual PvM/hack&slash characters, and I've enjoyed the experience thoroughly.
Like everyone else I was hyped to play Diablo 3 and I was not disappointed. Gone were the days of the rigid build and/or cookie cutters where skills can be mixed and matched and stats can be reallocated through items. This essentially shifts the focus of the game more onto the experience, if you don't like it, you can always mix it up. This places more emphasis on gameplay strategy especially with potion cooldown.
The inability to play the game without an internet connection is disappointing. I'm sure the devs have their reasons for this, but at the same time having the game online makes it more intuitive. I guess AH is made as a replacement to gamling ala D2 and it still needs a little improvement, however I do not feel that is a dealbreaker to me.
Playing D3 with friends online have been fun, and I can definitely see myself playing this for the next couple years!
