Is it hard to learn butterfly. I know the rest of the other strokes d .....only butterfly.

Yes and No, it depends on your strength to really "Fly". Being a coach myself, I cannot "fly". biggrin.gif

But anyway, it requires a really good strength and good technique, if not you'll hurt your back. I know some National Athletes hurt their back because of Butterfly.

By the way, does anyone know where I can get waterproof diapers for my 6 months old baby? Thinking of bringing my baby to swim.

Use kickboard is indeed harder to move forward especially your arms on the kickboard (which means your head is above water) while if your hands holding the board (your head dive in the water), you'll find easier to move. The leg must be straight. Think of your legs like two oars (straight). If you bend your knees, you will not move forward.

For first lesson, try with your upper half body at the pool side, while legs in the water.

For 1 to 1, it is considerably cheap. I know a coach who was national team coach before charge RM 300 for 1 hour session. Anyway, Klang Valley there are many free lancing coach anyway.

for swimmers, how do you guys improve and increase lung capacity? running out of breath after a few strokes for my freestyle. smile.gif

It might be due to kicking (wrong method). Do you know how we train the school team? We squeeze them.

I am very happy with today swimming lesson!
Because I finally can do a powerful dolphin kick!! Previously all dead fish kick or machine fish kick, not moving forward at all. So fed up with my stiff body.
Then suddenly today i finally catch the wave of the water, and  I move my body along. I make sure my head motion is minimum so it is my lower body that provides most of the propulsion.
That sounds of kick cannot forget it. That is the most powerful dolphin kick I ever performed. Finally can feel how is it like to be like a fish.
Now I need to synchronize my newly acquires dolphin kick technique with my arm pulling, then I can fly like a butterfly. Can't wait that day to arrive.

rclxms.gif rclxms.gif Just watch out for the back pain, even the professional hurts the back easily, do not force the kick, let it be natural. It should syncho with your head movement (shoulder).

quick question:

i can swim normal pool ( not taller than my height) and i am trying to swim deep pool but there is a fear there and i dont know how to stand swim yet

so does anyone take classes to learn stand swimming or you just learn yourself in deep pool

Do you know how to swim in breastroke? Just "Vertical" it. With the hand in circle, push at the same time as the leg push downwards. Beginner used to circle fast, then slowing down after experience
