Then welcome to the slow gamers thread. I know we all want to play more but Real Money Auction House isn't ready to sustain our lives yet. So here is a list of fellow unfortunate players.

The first name is for your LYN ID. 2nd is for your battletag. I have also included the forum codes so when you add your name, just add your name to the codes above you and then I can update with a single copy and paste.

Unfortunately, the thread has grown faster than I thought it would. Just PM me if you want to get added to the list of slow players.

i am.... i only have a hour or 2 in a day..

the rest i need to work.... first started Diablo in 1997 which i play with friend using modem dial up. Then in the 2000 wow it was the hardcore year of diablo indeed, really enjoy it to the max becoz can play non stop during my school holiday.


so 12 years later..... i need to work... go out with my gf.... no more hardcore gaming anymore. Got a live to go on with.

only have played once since i got the game 2 days ago. ended up at level 9 just completed the stranger sword quest. so jelly see ppl lvl 50++ and some even game dy sad.gif

haven't got my box yet, but i'm gonna be leveling slooooooooowly and enjoy whatever the game can provide, from the enviroment, the lores, the story plot, the voice acting and lastly the game mechanics

hmmm if guys need fast exp and gold u can re-do certain boss quests for quick exp.

i.e. these ones are not very time consuming

act 2
- butterfly witch magnum ice cream (safest)
- nikka horadim mage (might die in nightmare mode)

Hmm, what is slow?

Well, lets face it, those who can afford only about an hour to 2 once in a while is slow. For example, I can't play everyday and when I can, I can probably only squeeze in 1 to 2 hours.

I'm probably 1 of the slower ones. But I made this thread for those who won't rush straight to boss and are willing to clear the map first. The lack of game time is also a contributory factor.

Bro...I think you're not the slower as I only played like 15min and logout. That's during weekdays...but for weekends, i might sit in front of the monitor whole day hehe

i might be facing the game for more than 4-5 hours running around and chat with bundles of npc over and over again just to know how the story and the environment changed since diablo2 and the impact after the world stone shattered... sad.gif

Ok so I'm surprised that there are so many slow players. The fast players are probably too busy playing to bother with this thread anyway.

But, since there are more and more players. Can you guys add your battle tags into the code section and post the codes here? I only update the list weekdays.

I am also a slow player. When I play co-op,those idiots run around so fast as if they were rushing to complete the game.

End up I play alone better, at least dont need to rush with them and missed all the good stuff in the game.

haha nice thread, im a slow levelers as well cause day time need to work and Im the kind that like to explore the whole map rather than just rush and finish the objective mission asap lol .

So, by adding you slow players like me, does tht mean we can coop and not feel pressure to rush through? I'd love to find a partner to play with. Someone who can only play 1 hour from 11pm-12am.

Hmmm... I'm still thinking to buy or not to buy.. You guys are lucky, 1-2 hours per day.

After working hours, I have to accompany my wife, else !@#$%^& comments will come into my ears.

FYI, my weekend is on Friday(one day only), yes, and I still have to accompany her go swimming and shopping.

Suggestion guys? Seriously dilemma.

Same here. Wife will complain. What's worse is that I have 2 babies. Lagi teruk. But I play on weekdays when they are all asleep around 11pm. Then again weekdays are when I'm damn tired after 10 hour job. But try to tahan sleep lor.

I am a slow player as well, i play for about 1 or 2 hours when i am able, and this is not everyday. I like to explore the map completely and destroy everything.... LOL!

Lol very slow indeed. Just level 26 now and act but I guess that happens when you have only 16 hours a day to balance between work , wife , family and D3.

Now it would be wonderful to able to not sleep without any side effects so I could have 24 hours a day lol

And the auction house is not helping. After kids sleep I just want to wind down. So I spend time in auction house. And not playing. LOL.

Problems lies with 2nd wife, my work.

Every time I log on, I've been affected by error 3007, and single player lag which results in hitting air.

I've at least killed the skeleton king. I think I'll wait a while for the hype to die down before starting up again. Also playing Max Payne 3 last week and will be getting Dragon's Dogma which will be perfectly playable offline.

how high you should be getting to have a good fight with belial? i already halfway at act 2 at lvl25, my dps just 80++ sumore. laugh.gif

Main key to whack belial: run wisely, avoid smartly.

Belial is the hardest @$$ to whack in whole game according to many gamers (which i agree so far, cos i haven't whack diablo).

Tips: run smart, avoid wise, vital must able to tahan belial's (3rd mode) at least 2 smashes.

Low DPS, no worries, u have to spend more time to whack him only lor. tongue.gif

Gold is more important than exp becos u need tons of golds to equip the character.
Exp: now is pretty easy to level up. No issue to max yr level to 60, just the matter of time.

Gold: use to upgrade stash, buy yr desire items from AH.
MF: maybe later stage (hell or inferno mode)

lol can take chance to try other characters will add you at night after my GF is through using the PC.. so that'll be about 3 episodes of Anime, a session of FB and then its 11pm to 1130pm already tongue.gif

I think it depends on what mode you're playing la.

For example if you're just starting, then EXP is more important because level up gives you stats and also allows you access to more skills (active / passive / whatever) and those things could actually make or break your progress, or at least make it more comfortable.

Once you reach level like say 30 or so, then EXP means less as the critical ones are mostly unlocked already. Then you focus on
a) gold drop
b) magical item drop

Sure, gold is important BUT in the mean time, finding more magicals or rares would help you in the following

a) make levelling better (stats boost, kill faster, survive longer, make money while you're at it)
b) those that you don't want, salvage. then upgrade the blacksmith to forge some items.

Forging is useless later on as the drops you get better goods via the drops.

you need EXP first la. all those gooding gears also level dependent, so you get them also useless because you have not reach the EXP to use them.

Guys, I decided I don't want to play softcore anymore. Since I'm a slow leveler, it just makes sense to play it with more excitement. Therefore, I've rerolled HARDCORE!

Actually I have 3 other chars on US server but I normally play them slowly in single-player mode. The Asia server I use only for multiplayer.

Your Asia lvl-8 DH will probably be OK with my barbarian.

the game is region free, hence the feature of global play enabled.

You only need 1 copy of your d3 key to play globally, what matters is, do you have time for all char in all servers tongue.gif

No, a single license allows you to play globally. It's just that each server will hold a different set of your characters and you can't transfer them between servers.

Time to knock off from work. Anyone with matching level wants to play, just add my aforementioned handle.

Monk nerf is only for mantra of healing on level 4x and on. That Boon of Protection.
Other than that I believe monk is unaffected by anything else.

You can check your region on:
Game menu> Options> Account.

If you want to change a region, you have to do it BEFORE you login.
If you already login you need to logout, change it, and login back.

Anyway, by default, it is set to The Americas (NA server).
Unless you change it somehow.

You cannot transfer your chars from different region to another region.
If you want so, you have to play back biggrin.gif

Diablo was expected much easier to kill (normal mode) than i thought.

My simple conclusion on the difficulty on boss kill (normal mode):

1. Belial (hard)
2. Diablo
3. Azmadon
4. Butcher (easy)

lol well 2 monks can generate a lot of exp with mobs dying en-masses lol love the vortex skill that sucks in all the mobs do some dmg then u kicked them to death with the roundhouse lol totally cool doh.gif

solo leveling is good for exploring your skill sets and combinations i think.. learn to know what skills are best for certain situation..

don't understand why some people like to rush 60 and inferno.. die miserably then complain about game mech

there are many benefits to rushing on a new game...1 u get to exploit bugs and usually ur skills are OP. hence its the best time to do wat u wan..later u can replay with more..."tone down" skills and lvling pace

It gives time for you to explore your own strategy too especially if you kept dying. I pretty much relied on self made weapons in normal mode but now semi poisoned by AH in nightmare doh.gif

I find that Normal, with AH items, gameplay very imba. I can pretty much own anything thrown my way. No lag = impossible to die.

yup still manageable... but u will die a few times more in later acts when facing elites and bosses...

what class r u playing? lvl27 monk can kill diablo no sweat with lifesteal item lolz, on nightmare its a bit tougher though, seems that the melee classes will have it tough so wanna start a a new DH but server down so maybe later tonight tongue.gif

Normal mode is easy. Any class will kill diablo easily. My barb (lvl27) kill diablo in normal mode and there is one stupid guy die during the fight and re-spawn outside. I have to use 20 min to kill the bas tard b'cos double HP. My barb is build for cc and tanking.

Anything above lvl 30 killing Diablo @ normal mode is no sweat sap sap sui one la. Sumore u now act III sweat.gif I'm sure later u are to lvl 35 Act IV eats Diablo like hot cake.

That's assuming that one will eventually finish. I never did finish D2, i.e. kill Baal in Hell mode, cos I was too much into experimenting with many different builds of many chars. doh.gif

I'm thinking that I should create a character and play hardcore mode after I go through all the Acts in Normal. It would be fun knowing that death is permanent. Anyone with me?

Still level 25, done with Kulle. I think next should be Belial..

I think should be fine, i have about 2500HP and 250DPS for a level 25. With Enchant weapon it will go up by a significant margin, dps wise.

Went crazy and played till 2am yesterday, beat Belial AND Azmodan in NM biggrin.gif
Oh yeah and the monster are way tougher when there's multiple players. Met a horrible elite combination yesterday -> fire-chained, fast, and teleporter.

^ Haha... Like you I also played till almost 2am yesterday but it was because I did something phenomenally stupid. Here's the tale:

Normal mode, level 25 Demon Hunter.

Logged in playing solo and started the last quest in Act II - meaning I am facing Belial. Went in and started dishing out damage and Belial went down. Before I could cheer, I also went down seconds after Belial did. But the fight was over. I respawned and collected the loot and went on to finish the scenario. talk to Tyreal and the caravan man appeared for Act III.

This was when I did the stupid thing - I left the game and saw one of my friends online. Without thinking I joined him in his quest in Act II - The Kulle quest. When I came out from that game, I realized too late that I had NOT initiated Act III before joining my friend! So now I had to face Belial all over again.

With a sigh of resignation I re-started the quest to put Belial down. Thinking that it would just be around 15 minutes coz the first time round it ended pretty quickly and in my favor.

Surprise, surprise! Belial killed my DH nearly one dozen times! WTF??!! I mean I have gone from level 25 to level 26 while playing with my friend but this is ridiculous!

Then I realized my second stupid mistake! I had forgotten to pair up with a companion coming back to solo. I always had the Templar accompany me on my solo quests. I kicked myself in the bottom and restarted the quest, with the Templar tagging along. Managed to take Belial down again and I made sure I got to Act III before logging out again.

Lesson learnt : Always, always make sure you start the next quest before jumping into your friend's game!

AND if you're not using a GPU, crank down the res and effects. Coz your game would lag like hell. I died god knows how many times due to the lag my IGP was giving me sweat.gif

Wizzie is at Level 33 now.

I didn't go to AH till reached NM Act 2, so kinda agree with you on not going to AH on Normal mode.
I only got 900 DPS when beat Belial in NM, forgot what's my level, around 37 or was it 39? hmm.gif Shit suffering from short term memory loss due to too much D3.

just want to share with you, those in NM if you want to power level on act 1 you can try the crypt of the ancient. I've managed to gain at least 15k xp within a minute in the crypt rclxms.gif

Hahahaha, get to Hell mode and report back. Normal mode is kinda like the 'learning tutorial' part. This is the first game I've played where the tutorial is actually the whole game on normal. tongue.gif

NM is decent, Hell is fun as....well......hell. And I heard that Inferno is next to impossible with most builds. Level 57 Wiz here and already finding Hell difficult in Act 2. Elite mobs are nuts! Protip: gateways and doors are your friends. When being chased by elites, I will run to the nearest door. Blast away with Diamond Skin + Disintegrate(Entropy), then when DS runs out, go through the gate. When cooldown is done, recast DS and go in and blast away again. Frost nova at the end to buy some time and get out when DS runs out. Rinse repeat. Easy peasy.

My build is a glass cannon with only 15k HP and 7.7k DPS. Still die a lot though when caught unexpected. rclxub.gif

Also, damn Battlenet shut down server for maintenance with only a 2-min warning. I was halfway playing barb and I knew for sure I couldn't make the next checkpoint. Most of u guys were in bed by then.

The leapers (panthermen) are terrible. They r fast and u can't hit them while they r in the air.

We should have a bit of an 'unofficial trade' for items for the slow levelers. We're already disadvantaged so every little bit helps no? I don't mind giving my low-level rares for free instead of selling them for pittance at the merchant's. AH sucks for having such a long cool-off time and I am stacked up to my neck in gear. Defeated diablo...twice last night. Normal is indeed a tutorial. Way too easy. Currently in NM Act I. Things are still dying with one arcane orb. But at least it's a bit more of a challenge. Hopefully things will pick up in Act II.

getting the staff of herding needs 100k to make, and later to upgrade in nightmare another 200k, really tiring task orz but farming in whimshyre felt good, able to gain 10-15k gold per run biggrin.gif

You should play nice and slow to enjoy the game story in normal mode, that's what I did. After that, play co-op. NICE thumbup.gif

to be honest, i dunno because at the current moment i only concentrate on playing wizard. but for power levelling i choose a skill that can blast through horde of minion so that i can get a massacre extra xp. disentigrate and archon mode for wizard can do the trick. you just need to choose the best location (with a lot of minion), use the skill and blast your way.

if im not mistaken there is one place for power levelling on act 2, when you are ambushed when trying to open a gate (cant remember what is that place). the best power levelling place i used to get is at the bridge on act 3, there is one room there where i can get 70+ massacre easily.

Lazy to read thru the whole thread,
i played a monk to 60 in 40+- hours.
get helm with socket, +21% exp gem
get boots with high movement, try to look for legendaries for movement speed, i got a lvl 41 pants, with movement speed (from AH).
clean any cave or dungeon i've encountered, those with "level 1" in it's name means there is level 2, more elites. and in cave,
pace is tighter allowing better aoe grinding.
upgrade armor every 5-8 level, upgrade weapon every 2-4 level, shorter interval in higher level.
that's about it. i spend around 6-8 hours per day for this game. and i still work for 8-10 hours per day...
that being said, i have ignored my girlfeiend for the past 2 weeks or so, my bad~

Finished kicking Azmodan's butt last night. Now in Act IV on normal mode. Comparatively, Act III feels much shorter than Act II.

Anyone leveled up their blacksmith and jeweller? I just had my blacksmith forge me a rare (yellow) belt that has quite good stats!

Now my DH is level 31.

I only level up my jeweller. The blacksmith I stopped level it after level 2. Cheaper to buy items from AH..hehe

I don't visit the Auction House. I play the game using whatever's dropped in-game and what I can salvage and forge using the blacksmith.

Went nutz yesterday and go from level 25 to 33, completed ACT III also. Now in ACT IV, will try to finish it off today or tomorrow. At least for normal mode.

Btw, that was a nice game Sebelas. Your barb was pretty powerful.

My barb is far less powerful than your char. When it's his turn (8-char round-robin), I do enjoy playing him cos of his capability for sheer physical mayhem. He gives meaning to the phrase "just whack only."

I do agree on your comment on the barb, you should also try monk if you like barb. I think of it as barb on steroid.

I found another combination that kill even faster yesterday. Put everything into increase damage from cold, and see monster health bar drop faster than you can blink.

I ter-locked the D3 account authenticator. Its been 3 days I no D3 liao waiting for Bliz to help me fix that.

wasting certain degree of time piling up +dex gears so i can easily steamroll elites/ bosses in fights

I dunno but I still don't get any lags or DCs as per many had spoken in the forums. :S and I'm still on a 1mb and not unifi sweat.gif

Btw, 1 think I don't really like about D3 is there's no visiting back Act1 as freely as you like in D2.

Problem is that your quest are overwritten as well "Which means your progress on current quest" are being overwritten on any quest you choose to start :S.

Watch out for the fire coming up through the floors. These will kill you more often than not. Keep your distance from the butcher as he can harpoon you and pull you in. When that happens, you will be in deep sh*t!

Also make full use of the health pools around the place. They will refill if you give them some time.

CODE
mines, caltrops, backflip, bola shot, rapid fire.

templar with taunt skill.


Gotta keep running around, you can get your achievement for not stepping on fire or getting hit by butcher here if you're careful.

depends on your playstyle.. Loyalty if im not mistaken heals you..


I took that rather than intimidate because its emergency heals biggrin.gif. Apparently if you stack int into his stats the amount of what he can heal goes up

Yeah you can.. but you if like say half way through a dungeon in ACT II.. that dungeon you need to re-do it or explore again

honestly there is no point to sell stuff lower than $200 to merchant. I rather convert them @ blacksmith for ingredient to upgrade the blacksmith.
Later on even with Rare (gold) item with sucky stats no point to sell @ AH, if dowan to sell to merchant I also will turn it to blacksmith.
Gold farming at higher level can easily remedy the difference.

Anyway it is your play style.

I don't do Auction House at all! Don't buy and don't sell. I my opinion AH is a bad part of D3.

- Because of AH irresponsible people hack D3 accounts.
- Because of AH noobs complain about drops being useless and what not. Heck, they don't know that those farmers may have farmed for ages to get the items they sell in AH and these noobs just buy them and use and then complain when they don't get similar drops. WTF??!!
- Because of AH people spend real money to buy virtual gold. WTF??
- Because of AH noobs don't know how to form strong groups that play off each other's strengths to beat the game. They depend on uber items that they can buy in AH way too much.


I believe that one can beat the game tapping into one's skills and understanding of the game while using only items dropped in-game when one plays. Back in the old days, no games have anything like AH and heck we still beat those games without any cheats or hacks. smile.gif

Bro... you have 7++ dps and still level 29 demon hunter and you worry? Why I'm level 33 demon hunter and my dps is only 6++ and I jumped right in to nightmare. Dun worry so much on the stats and gears. Just enjoy the game and use whatever drops you get. I don't think that you'll be stuck anytime soon. Haha!

Well, your DH is much better than my level 26 DH with 2k HP and 500+ damage. I dont think you'll have much problem in Nightmare.

700+ is enough to deal a lot of damage in nightmare.

On the other hand, i think my barb is well prepared for Nightmare, as he has 5k+ health with 700+ damage when he is only in normal Act 3.

Don't you know tuesday / wednesday is easily the most frequent maintenance occur day? after stressing too much during weekend and monday ppl will most likely KO on these days.
we need some rest to prepare for friday ya'know?

I keep dying at Belial. DH really easy to die.. End up co-op with friend and defeat that fellow

If you are alone, team up with Kormac the Templar and life would be easier...

I kicked Belial's ass but then forgot to advance the story before joining a friend's co-op game. Come back and found that I had to take on Belial again but this time I died multiple times before realizing that I don't have Kormac with me. Hire the Templar again and Belial went down easy. Haha.

My wife forbids me from playing Dota2. But this time I've bought an extra copy of diablo 3 to get her to play with me. She was a diablo 2 player so getting her to play 3 isn't a problem.
So far the main reason to slow me down was the trip to china from 18th May to 27th may. When I was back there was at least 3 times that the us server was under maintenance. Still in Act3 normal mode for now.

I don't think they can return your lost gold. They can do a roll back but then your character will lose some levels but maybe it's better than being naked and broke?

I believe I saw a post before that you can only ask for roll back 1-2 times only PER ACCOUNT. So it is up to you to judge whether is feasible to call them to do the roll back. after that they will lock your account (for suspicious money/item laundering)

Heck it is only a game, lost item lost item la. You can always re-accumulate again.
