if u wanna get "most motorcycle" out of your every penny, then forget about ninja & cbr, go for the blade instead.

btw, this is a ktm, a conti brand, i personally think its still worth the money even if not made in Austria.

this bike only good for city & hill area riding. not just good but you'll be having lots of fun. if you plan to do just that, it is one of the best bike for you. if highway or long distance riding is in your plan, then go for other bikes.

dont go for naza blade.durability sucks.trust me. the review for ktm 200 is quiet good for pre-entry bike. the only problem is,the price.with it u can get 250 scrambler,kawasaki.klx250 which is proven to have 4 stars rating.pls pls dont ever buy products from korea, taiwan, china.no offence.but pls trust me.i've been riding bikes for years.go for japan bikes and europe (bmw). seems u like the ktm 200 which is a motard like, then try to take a look at klx250r.very good bike.my 1st bike in 2006.keep it until now for my memories and my future kids.no problem at all. btw,u are using lc now is it? dont go for ktm 200.u wont feel any diff. doesnt feel like riding big bike at all.trust me.anything pm me smile.gif

Well lets see.. u have a few things to think about when buying a sport bike (>RM10,000).

1. Performance hmm.gif
ITS KTM, Austrian, 200 cc 4 stroke. Good looks, I bet handles brilliant. Performes OK too. For 20K though, hmmm I think not. A Kawasaki Ninja 250R, Naza Blade 250R, can easily keep up (or outperform u on the streets and on the track). Or, if u had a bad day... maybe an LC ur riding right now might be able to tapau u... (with the right mods of course).

2. Value brows.gif

For 20K, i think there is a lot of other bikes will beat it for value for money. Eg like the Ninja 250r and Blade 250R. Ninja has been the king of the 250's class ever since it came out in 2008. Naza Blade 250N or R, values at <RM15K is also quite good (but maybe suffers from quality issues, but hey Naza has had > 10 years to improve on that). If u really want value for your money, go for Naza Blade 650R for only RM20086, u can get top speed >200Km/h, superbike looks, handling..... but then again... its only Naza not KTM.

3. Maintenance rolleyes.gif

Don't just look at monthly payment tables, think about your fuel usage, bike maintenance, insurance & road tax, and availability of spare parts. Kawasaki has been a household name in Malaysia, they had an assembling plant in Glenmarie Shah Alam. That means no shortage of spare parts for smallest KSR 110 up to the monster ZX-14 supersport bikes. Not sure about the Naza and the KTM's though, but I bet due to the limited amount of KTM 200 in the market, spare parts are scarce, not many mechanics are familliar with the bike, and you will end up waiting for weeks or months for the spare parts to arrive from overseas (btw, just a wild guess, please correct if im wrong.)
Naza has been here for a while, so maybe they are doing all right.

P/s : calculate your insurance and road tax properly, if ur paying 500 just for the installment, get another 500 ready and put in tabung for your fuel and maintenance needs. Big Bike requires Big pockets.... smile.gif

one more thing.. please join the KTM forum for feedback from KTM bikers, they will be able to tell u more before u buy the actual bike. Go have teh tarik with them, its ok dont be shy... thumbup.gif

Dear TS.... This is not a true KTM..... Infact it is an indian Bike... Bajaj....

For me, I'll better go for something like Blade 250R, CBR 250R.....

Duke 200 is more like a rebadge.... Closest on road KTM u can get is Duke 690....

Duke 200 is just not worth it....

Lol

1-this is not bajaj, its ktm but assemble by bajaj factory...to reduce cost of manufacturing..unlike inspira tat is rebadge from lancer...totally not a lancer assemble by proton...

2-there is a ktm plant in north malaysia, later this bike will be CKD, n tat plant is for asean region...

3-this is not superbike, its a fun bike! Not meant fro speed demon...run around town and intercity is ok...but not for kl-jb every weekend...its capable of doing so tho...

4-cbr/ninja/blade is different class...

5-modded lc135 tapaued this bike in straight road...

How i know? I got 1 in my home already...

hey there
i own the duke 200 since april already
doing medic in bangalore, india

no factory-based problems faced till today (eg leaking radiator, oil coolant leak, petrol leak, brake fluid leak, FI problem, cable problems, etc)
seems like those problems are mainly faced by dukes in malaysia and early batches of dukes in india. a friend of mine who got the duke earlier has a crack near the petrol cap at the orange plastic part. several early batches has got them too. but the others are okay.
IMO, the parts made by Bajaj have okay QC, it's only the assembly done in Malaysia that's the problem. trust me, i read a lot of complaints in the Malaysian FB group that weren't faced by indians in the Indian FB group.

back to the story about the bike; i'm sure you've read a lot about it's pro factors, and have drooled a bit. so i'll just let you know my two cents on what i don't really like about the bike.

1. small tank capacity. kena bwk petrol extra dlm beg kalau nk jalan jauh.
2. hon tak kuat langsung (a major problem when riding in a densely populated country like India, but Bajaj says next batches of dukes might get louder horns)
3. seat agak keras, but personally, i only feel that problem when i'm riding slowly. when i rev it up, the exhilarating thrill i get takes away the feeling of hardness in the seat
4. if you're gonna be a pillion on the duke 200, you're gonna have a bad time. you WILL feel like you'll fall behind each time the rider wrings the throttle, but after some time, you'll get used to it. i think the handles for the pillion is too far below, which makes the centre of gravity of the pillion a bit further behind.
5. at low gears (1, 2), at low revs, there's a bit of a dead zone, where the engine won't respond to your throttle. i just wring it some more and the engine responds again. i read in the Indian FB group that Bajaj has done something to the ECU (maybe remap) for a fellow duker to fix that problem, and it has been rectified. i'm waiting for the chance to ask for the same myself.
6. you will come to curse the rev limiter a lot, if you're doing a road trip. ECU remapping from a third party is available in India to remove the rev limiter for approx. rm 800-1k. top speed after removing the limiter is thereotically 156km/h or something. no proof yet, so cant say for sure.
7. handle grips are not that comfortable cause it's filled with jutting rubber spikes. but it feels awesome when riding with gloves on. maybe diorg mmg nak semua org pakai gloves kot.
8. mudguard blakang nmpk sgt huduh, so i removed mine.
9. no middle stand. org kat Bajaj kata "KTM removed all unnecessary parts to improve the bike's performance". good lobbying haha. tension gak nk lube chain etc2. kena beli/buat paddock stand sendiri.
10. xde radiator guard available yet. kat Malaysia xpe kot, tp kat India, dgn jalan tanah pasir debu batu tahi lembu semua, tension gak nk bersihkan radiator tiap2 minggu.

that's all i think. semuanya ada alternatives and solutions.
boleh je nk highway riding, xde hal pun. semua depends on the rider. rider malas/x berani/x skillful, xleh la nk highway riding.

average fuel consumption, 34 kmpl

about the topspeed, u do realise this is a motard right. gear ratio is for acceleration and zigzag-ing in the traffic. all smaller cc motard are around 120-140kmh top speed.

As for long range, i had a MZ125 with top speed of 112kmh (thats what the speed my Trailtech Vapor shown me). i cant imagine ppl doing long range with that "single cylinder massage seat" LOL. and the small tank is kinda annoying.

Power wise, i cant comment since i never ride any of the newer 200-250cc bikes.

My honest opinion, go for KTM200 if u stick in city side. CBR250 for slightly longer trips or prefer less visit to the petrol station. Both bikes are not that big so waving in traffic should be ok. If u prefer motard vicious look but wants a sporty bike as a base, get a CBR250 and mod it StreetFighter style brows.gif

I have been riding quite a bit, Virago, ZZR1100, Harely, ER6N, CBR1000RR, LC, i can tell you this Duke 200 is real fun bike. Depend what you this bike for? If you want speed for long distance, NO, this is 200cc bike, so you have to imagine there is so much to do with 200cc. But i ride it to office, from PJ to KLCC...i have never enjoy a bike like this one..so much fun, but you have to ride it like you are chase by police..hahaha.. Seriously, this one will make you real rempit in town. I just love it so much that i ride it everyday...i like the look and the feel, easy to handle and simple exciting to ride in traffic jam. You will not able to do thismwith Ninja oe CBR. But if you want top speed on long distance, then go for CBR/Ninja.

If you're looking for speed, this isn't the right bike. My lightly modified Kriss 110 with 60mm block, TS125 carb, racing CDI and smaller rear sprocket can easily outrun the Duke 200... Which I imagine would be quite embarrassing for the Duke 200 user everytime I cut them off on my way to school at 155km/h...

Though the bike does overheat a lot after 150km(+-) riding at a constant speed of 110 km/h.

I'd get the cheaper and more powerful Blade 250... The riding position isn't that much different from the Duke 200. Hell, I don't know, I've only tested the Blade 250.

if u wanna ride on PLUS highway like wind, take Kawasaki 250

if u wanna ride on street or go up to Genting, take KTM 200

both serve the different purpose.

Motor: KTM Duke 200 Price Compare

user posted image

This is KTM Duke 200cc, origin from Austria, Bajaj Motor India own 47% share of Duke now, assembled in India and sold for RP137800 (RM7310.26) srcSource

This same bike is assembled in Malaysia too.CKD, but selling price is around RM18800. srcSource.

Now if you compare, the mark-up margin is over 100%! i dont know who is leeching in between, is it Gov. or manufaturer,it is CKD and supposed to bypass some damn Gov. duty, but still pricing is too high, did the assembler take too much profit or did Gov. imply some hidden tax?

Lets calculate if some want to buy this bike with credit, simple research bring us to srchere ,For 2.4k Downpayment, monthly instalment will be RM398 x 72Mth=RM28656+2.4k(d/p)=RM310565k! (cash price RM18800,) So Dealer (or financing bank) profit will be RM12165k !

Lets say cost for this bike is RM7300k(-India price) and you want to buy it with credit, total cost=RM31056k,,then you have to work 28month(estimate) to pay to Gov/Assembler, another 24month to pay to Dealer/Bank,and only around 18month for the real price (RM7300)..

Work harder Mann...Capitalist system is build to suck you all out!.
