Was a bit worried about the SAME CHARACTER, but how i see it now is, it give us the flexibility of build.
Lets take monk for a go, there already some build there just by mixing the skill set with runes.
The items also play an important role in the building different build than other.
Maybe is just me, i prefer the flexibility over the skill tree system.
It force us to play and switch accordingly to opponent and the team, come on is only 4 player coop.

I was just about to say this. The characters are really quite flexible.
