Caltrop is such a life saver ,I normally would use Impale only again on difficult mobs lol I think it would be great for PVP due to stun knockback.

Anyways the feeling of Rapid Fire against a bunch of undeads heading towards you slowed by caltrops is awesome!

Hi guys , due to lack of time to experiment and to get experience from DH players here,

I was theorycrafting a Hatred build would be more effective that a Discipline build. Currently this is how my Discipline heavy skill set goes ,

Level 33 (lolnub i know)

1)Vault (Rune-Rattle & Roll)
2)Preparation (Rune-Invigoration)
3)Caltrops (Rune-Jagged Spikes)
4)Rapid Fire (Rune-Fire Support)

Primary attack mode - Entangling Shot (Rune-Chain Shot)
Secondary attack mode - Impale (Rune-Impact)

Passive skills - Cull of the weak,Archery,Hot pursuit.

Offense;
So basically it will be primary attack Chain Slow mobs and Cull of the weak deals extra damage to slowed mobs.

When needing to deal lots of damage fast will use Rapid Fire

Impale -I use it against Flyers,Mortars,Teleport usually

Defense;
Caltrops to slow and deal damage (if surrounded or walled)
Vault to escape if (surrounded or walled)

Basically I'd use Invigoration to refuel Discipline if emptied and at tight times when fighting bosses I constantly need to run more for discipline to recharge. Will be most vurnerable when Invigoration is charging.

Anyone wanna share their platy setup? lol

Hi guys - quick question. How do we decide on crossbow, bow or hand bow? Which deals more consistent damage?
*
2H Corssbows your best bet for consistent damage lol

waa nice oso. usually my strategy is to get as far as possible from him using vault and snipe him from off screen. hungering arrows helps quite a lot since you tend to miss when only depending on the minimap to target him. i use impale too when he's close
*
Oooh I got a similiar build like that too , just to share and may not be applicable in some builds lol

General levelling - So far havent died to any group of hell elites/champion packs yet

Left Click - Elemental Arrow - Screaming Skull
Right Click - Multishot - Suppression Fire

1 - Shadow Power - Increase movement speed ( Forgot the name lol)
2 - Preparation - Restore Life ( Forgot the name lol)
3 - Caltrop - Jagged Edges
4 - Companian - Bat

Instruction;
Kite mobs , drop caltrops, Multishot the whole map.

Then loot the map

Shadowpower to run away from "FAST"
Screaming skull to make them run back towards the caltrops/if being walled/mobbed lol
Preparation for free refill of Discipline + Life lol aka Permanent rejuvenation potion

When facing diablo/boss my no get hit technique ( maybe a little) lol

Keys
Left Click - Grenades - ( Stun Grenade Rune)
Right Click - Impale - ( Stun & Knockback rune)

1 - Shadow Power - Increase movement speed
2 - Preparation - Restore Life
3 - Caltrops - Jagged Edges
4 - Cluster Arrow - Stun Rune

Instruction;
Right Click target
Run to target and hold key 3 until Discipline empty
Move away a bit and Right click
Left click ( Hold 3 seconds )
Right Click target
Left click ( Hold 3 seconds )
Right Click target
Left click ( Hold 3 seconds )
Right Click target
Left click ( Hold 3 seconds )

When last caltrops is about to fade , repeat from Right click all the way.

Multi use : Preparation multi use - Instant Heal ( If needed when potion cooldown) or insta discipline refilling for either 1 or 3
Group of mobs : Cluster arrow to keep em in place while dropping some caltrops under their noses lol
Shadow power ; Run away or Heal if boss in Caltrop zone

Do share your technique to so if needed can refine playing techniques (theoritically I suppose) lol

Its getting hard in Inferno with only 29K DPS and AH is too expensive for the casual player who plays 1-2 hours a day lol

Which Act are you at?

Act I is still very doable. Act II onwards it gets annoyingly difficult. If you're at Act II and you're a casual, just take a break until Patch 1.0.3 comes out as they are going to make the difficulty scale better from Act I.

Blizzard's official statement is that they like how Act I's difficulty is like, as well as how it progressed, and that they will be balancing Act II - IV to continue the trend line/difficulty progression curve of Act I.

Currently after Act I it is like a wall.

I don't have the source at the top of the head, but it is somewhere.
*
Act 1 is still cool with me but Act 2 is the wall . Lacuni jumps out from nowhere and one hit later Im dead lol Fast elites is definitely GG to me.

Currently back to farming until I can afford 1K dps 1H crossbow lol

try to get a cheap sales from AH, u need to spend a little longer at AH.

i believe yr gold now is already around 1M +

For me, still in hell act 2 with gold around 400k, but i am still able to get some nice gears around 100k including 2-3 bows, a quiver, pants, glove, bracers. (all rare items)

I manage to get a nice bow around 2000 gold with cold damage + dex + inc critical hit damage.

now i wanna build my gf first. now my gf is around +80%

shop wise. rclxms.gif

current lvl = 58
*
On a weekday I can afford only an hour of game and sometimes I have to decide between AH searching and gameplay or just one. Wish I could afford more time to play lol

Well to be honest my gold is about 300K because I spend way too much money in crafting. I know I wont get a 1K dps bow from crafting but somehow I just love to craft , maybe its the gamble lol

Anyways , with 80% GF can share where you farming and rate of gold? I tend to use MF to get tonnes of gear to salvage for crafting mats lol

Currently stucked at Inferno Act II lol, all I need is MORE GOLD!  rclxub.gif  to get better gears.

With 200%+ GF with 5 stacks of NV buff, I can farm gold at Hell Act 3 Siegebreaker quest more than 100k+ per hour lol.

Anyway guys, I have a question before making the right decision, is it necessary to have all resistance for my gears in order to survive?  hmm.gif
*
I think the resistances will help in the new patch since its going to be "easier to progress" More good gear drops I suppose. For now , its just dont get hit and kill fast.

Never had been this discouraged in a game before lol

I cant beat Inferno Act 2 Elites mostly and will get one shotted most of the time.

Hopefully a pro can guide me as I just seem to be not quite up for Inferno Act 2.

Level 60 now , I have 3K armour , 20K life , 32K DPS and All Resists at about 55%.
Sockets everything with Square Emeralds mostly.

I join a public game yesterday and was shooed away due to my bad gear sad.gif

Would really love to be a better DH , if anyone could give some advise especially those who have complete Inferno using DH solo or co-op

I know Bnet forums have a thread there but there was way too much maths in it and Its taking a lot of my brain cells lol.

Advise please? Thanks

What're ur skillsets like? Its more a matter of how well u adapt to kiting.
stuff like clearing the map for kiting, and good stutterstepping helps alot
*
Oh well my skill set is ;

Left click - Grenades - Stun Grenades
Right click - Rain of Vengeance (Stun beasts)

1) Shadow Power - Shadow Glide
2) Preparation - Focused Mind
3) Caltrop - Jagged Edges
4) Cluster Arrow - Dazzzling Arrow

The focus is to just perma stun the mob/enemy while letting caltrops whittle away the stunned mobs life (Works well so far for Inferno Act 1 despite the same eq)

Shadow power to escape while dropping caltrops to regain life. On tougher opponents , I activate Shadow power and have grenads+ cluster arrow burst heal.

I Chose Preparation - Focused Mind due to the total discipline earned is much more while I lure the mobs and dropping caltrops.

So the whole thing, I lure these mobs to tight places while dropping caltrops to slow + damage until they all group or moving at a group slowly.

Then my standard attack with stun grenades will keep them on the caltrops. Some may escaped being stunned and thats when I use cluster arrow - Dazzling Arrow which will almost guarantee a stun , if not the next stun grenade wave will stun them anyways.

Against some elites I could hold my ground with ;

Stun grenade,Shadow Power, Cluster Arrow , Caltrops drops which I get bursts of heal quite well but it takes some time

However , I am certain to die when the elites have stats like Mortar,Fast,Teleport,Vampiric. Let me know if youneed further info as thsi method dont seem to work very well sad.gif

I believe kiting is luring the mob into a place where you can group em together/damage them ? Not sure what stutter stepping means lol ( cant access Bnet/game sites too in office sad.gif)

Your playstyle is more close quarters if im not wrong? I recall grenades have a very short range, main reason i didnt use them.

For elites like mortar/teleport etc normally I've found the best way to handle them is off-screen kiting, since they will only use those skills if they are on ur screen and visible to u, if they're at the very edge or offscreen mobs wont mortar u or teleport or jail or wall, making life 100x easier when kiting.
Er, your definition of kiting isnt exactly what I'd expect, I'd say it's more on constant movement to keep distance i.e. offscreen whilst whittling down their hp. Stutterstepping is basically where u move shoot move shoot at a fast pace, where u move during the atkspd animation delay of ur attack, instead of completely stopping and dpsing full time.
I use the cookie cutter build of HA/DA & NT which is more suited for long ranged kiting, which makes life alot easier if you're not geared enough to burn things down if they manage to reach u.

Which areas are u having problems advancing through? Specific elite packs or bosses?
*
Tru dat , mostly close quarters but i maintain them that way close but cant touch me (if they can be stunned that is lol)

Reading your definition of stutterstepping made me realize thats what i was doing previously but anotherbuild involving bola shots lol but because its too tiring to play that way for me so I dint use that playstyle.

For offscreen kiting , mostly you be using hungering arrow? Since its quite difficult to put the crosshair on the target?

Anyways when you explain stutterstepping perhaps the animation of dude throwing grenades could be cut by me slotting in a low hatred skill like screaming skull smile.gif

So whats your Battletag? perhaps we can play together sometime smile.gif

what weapon u using?

mine xbow with 750 dmg get 58k dps
my friend xbow with 1k dmg get 80k ish dps

with ss ofcourse
*
750 dmg is not 750 dps weapon right? Its the base damage?

Im currently using 2 x 1h xbow.

Main hand = 749 DPS (Damage range like 300 to 600) and off hand = 540 DPS (200 - 500) which makes my DPS 32k with SS

I tried using ;

Main hand = 749 DPS (Damage range like 300 to 600) and off hand = 760 DPS (300 - 600) which makes my DPS 28K with SS.

The difference with the offhand is only 50 dex lol

Roughly speaking:

((((Weapon Avg Dmg + Other avg dmg) * Dex multiplier) * skill increases ) * Total attacks per second) * (1 + (crit chance * crit dmg)

tongue.gif

I have friend DH who reaches >100k without much, if any attspeed. Mostly high dex, 1.2k crossbow+quiver, and crit chance/dmg. So yeah, just input ur shiz into formula, and u can see from formula what helps what.

Like attspeed, it's multiplied after you modify the dmg (to take into account dex), so obviously that helps
*
Sweet formula there , will fill in the details later tonight lol

Does attack speed contribute to your attacks per second? Cuz my attacks per second is 1.6 while in the details is 1.82. I just remembered some dude have 3.1 attack per second.

Attack speed contribute to that?
