i dun really understand how leveling in D3 works. each skill only got 1 level issit and is upgradeable with "runes" instead of putting many points in one single skill like D2?

Rapid fire is overrated.The hatred to dmg ratio for me at least is not worth it as you need to stand still and have someone to tank.
Impale is more reliable imho. The way Im playing now is get in get out with vault+evasive fire, supporting the team with aoe stun through torturous ground caltrops. 2sec aoe stun is so imba. Caltrop is such a life saver ,I normally would use Impale only again on difficult mobs lol I think it would be great for PVP due to stun knockback.
Anyways the feeling of Rapid Fire against a bunch of undeads heading towards you slowed by caltrops is awesome! |

LOL rapid fire feels like my DH is carrying a MG42

Take Twin Chakrams. Period.
Hungering Arrow with Puncturing Arrow is the best single target DPS for DH because it can infinitely proc so you could have arrows piercing bosses non-stop. Chakram + Bat companion means you have 7 hatred regen. As of now I can throw Chakrams endlessly so farming is easy. I'll report back later on how hard the next difficulty is. |

I'm sticking with hunger shot + bola shot to up hatred so i can spam my rapid shot machinegun.
oh, try going to the Auction House to look for cheap weapons. I got 2 +29 dex 21.5dmg/sec crossbows for only 1800 gold total. Only 900 each! |

Dps depends on items stats also i guess.. 2-4 dmg or 3-6 dmg stats affect a lot on dps compared to dex

My DH spamming twin chakram and bola shot, waiting to get the electrocute bola shot, gonna be nice spamming those at boss fight.
My bow atk speed is at 1.70 but the dmg is kinda low. All the bow I saw or pick up have lesser atck speed, anyone got better bow than 1.60 atk speed?? |

hmm whats the difference between dual wielding hand crossbows and holding a quiver in the off hand? i dont think i really notice the diff of dual wielding and single wielding in terms of firing speed.

quiver usually for better hatred regeneration.. most of the time..
dual 1h xbow probably has better dmg output if both weapons are of same DPS.. but still.. depends on stats.. i got some quiver really good stats |

i find shadow power useful, and preparation with 3rd or 4th rune.. regen hp and refill discipline one

hmm select elective mode, then right click on the skill on skill bar.. it lets you replace with whatever skills you want.. and whichever slot you want.. just press the --> arrow to select other skills

Defensively, I find that the Vault skill "2 key" to be extremely effective to escape from being cornered.
The Evasive Fire also quite good in dodging close melee monsters |

haha i think it's pretty useless too.. i show my WD friend the bat companion.. one small bat..
he laughed at me and shows me his.. a SWARM of bats =.=" they do pretty good dps though, but looks so weak |

My damage is around 2.5k but when my fan of knives successfully hit enemy. My overall damage reduce to around 1.6k and slowly increase back. Is the skill meant to be that way?

It calculates damage, crit, crit damage, attack speed. The damage from the off-hand weapon doesn't count to my knowledge, you only gain a 15% IAS boost which is why dual wielding yields lower damage.

i still died many times in Hell. no problem soloing in Nightmare before. using Evasive Fire + Covering Fire Mouse 1 and Elemental Arrow + Screaming Skull on Mouse 2 last time i spam these two in Nightmare really easy. any advice to improve my DH.. sucks dying so many freaking time in Hell.. waste money |

gameplay and builds aside, i wonder why shadow powers give you a pair of mini angel wings. whats the story behind it.

lv 40 DH reporting in lol, so far still crawling my way through every dungeon in nightmare (act 2 currently)
skill build: left mouse: hungering arrow with split rune right mouse: entangling shot with chain gang rune 1: chakram (twin chakram) 2: vault (no discipline, but with cooldown) 3: invi (with longer timing, forgot what the skill is named lol) 4: rain of vengeance well i do think this build isn't optimal at any way, still need tweaking imo... |

f me. I caved in and purchased a 840dps weapon for 2m.
At least it was worth the upgrade. Act II Inferno elites are relatively easy now. |

after coming from monk, wah demon hunter super adjustment leh. monk is like teleport in to the middle of the mobs and whack whack whack, DH need to keep far away. in Act3 now getting frustrated by all those super fast mobs, can't kill them in time, can't slow them sufficiently

DPS upgrade after some crucial purchases, most notably my hand crossbow which cost me a whopping 2m. Act I Inferno is basically like Normal mode for me now.

i think archery is a must.. other 2 all flexible.. steady aim hardly works though.. even in coop mobs come to u when u deal too much dmg... some even teleport right in front

im using archery, then the one that do bonus damage if u attack from 10yards, and the one that does bonus damage to slowed enemy
when there an incoming hordes of demon what i did: 1. put the jagged spikes trap 2. put the sentry with rockets 3. backflip 4. spam Evasive Fire + Covering Fire from far 5. also use Elemental Arrow + Screaming skull incase few mobs get pass the trap.. lol all died and very shiok~ |

DH not really bad.. just gotta cc and kite a lot.. but that's ranger's nature isn't it.. i'm just annoyed with those elite packs spamming walls and fireballs especially in small space dungeons..

hp 22k DPS 18k armor 1.8k attack speed 2.48 my question, can this build survive in inferno.. it's quite fragile, i bet 1-2 hit from elite sure die. so whoever already reach inferno, do u guys all focus on DPS? or need to up vit abit?  so far i only farming gold in act 3-4 Hell.. very easy.. lol.. critical till 52k lol |

I wanna try to get my attack speed up to 3 per sec+33% crit.
See if I can get a permacrit. Now sitting on 25% crit chance and 2.6 attack speed already so good. |

They still didnt fix the issue of items being delisted from search after someone bids on it.
 On one hand, was angry cos decreases my potential profit of my auctions. But on the other hand, my bid on the bow that I want is now is in my hand cos it got delisted from search.mwahaha! Try searching for items that you have bid.You might get lucky too being the only one who bids before it get delisted.  |

Last night played with friends with lvl 50 char, my DH just lvl 44 and they playing Act 3 in nightmare mode. I realize vit+dex build can barely survive the assult from elite mob, one hit nearly KO, if kena mortar, instant death. My hp around 8k and dps around 1.8k, damn stress playing. Maybe the mob are stronger due to my friends lvl, tonight gonna try with someone my lvl see can survive or not.
Should I continue vit+dex item or pure dex enhancing item? Vit+dex is a expensive build to create |

As I mentioned earlier, there is no possible way to survive an Act II elite's hit unless you have Act IV / Pony gears or exploited the Resplendent Chest.
Even with my 45% mitigation + 40% resistances, I die in one hit to everything. My suggestion is not to rush Inferno because you CAN NOT get past it without dying like seven billion times. Its doable, but it will take a lot of deaths to get done right. |

Meh...I can't deal with the BS reflection of Elites. And I'm too poor to afford anything else :/
 No sharpshooter. With sharpshooter on, I'm doing some 40-50k (non-crit) and 50-100k+ (crit) DPS using NT, but god the reflection always get myself instagibbed lol. At earlier level no problem but when getting into Act 3 nightmare mode, my and my wizard friend keep kena tapao-ed by elite. My wiz fren already buff with armor and vit build but still cannot tank so much while i keep SS and run away Misses alot of game time due to work load, how I wish I'm 20 y.o right now. |

Sharpshooter and archery is a must. So never lose out on +attack speed on your bows and preferably dual wield socketed weapons so that you can boost your crit by +200% endgame. Both my handbow have +15% ias, 2% stun chance (total 4%) and have sockets. hehe Currently doing act 1 inferno just fine, defeated leoric but not quite sure about act 2 yet |

Btw, there is a bug where if you dual wield, the +attack speed wont properly calculated. you need to check whether or not you get the right attack speed boost. You can fix it by simply re equipping your bows. |

Handbow + Quiver if you're aiming to proc Nightstalker. DH can still operate with the SS nerf, you just need to be smart and Tactical Advantage is mandatory now.

 Most expensive item I spent was 400k boots on AH since it was the last item for me to get within reasonable price range, but everything else was below 120k gold! keke, cheapskate build here. Can't understand how people can save up millions and or spend millions. 1. SS 2. Companion [Bat] (for Hatred) 3. Prep [Invigor] 4. Cluster Arrow [Loaded for Bear] Hitting 60k avg AOE + 25k residual bombs 5. Hungering Arrow [Devouring], Hitting for 25k avg 6. Impale [Overpenetration] Hitting 60k avg Vengeance, Steady Aim, Grenadier I'm probably the rare Cluster Arrow user, but I find it great for crowd control and pack runs happen faster when I blow white mobs away real quick. Working great with Grenadier -10 hatred cost. The downside is distance, I think it has 85% reach, so for the rest I use Impale. 2H Crossbow + Quiver is my choice, I find quick attack speed useless since I'm mostly running around and kiting, so high base attack is better since it makes Impale and Cluster more powerful. Ive read some post on the official forum saying that bonuses from gems dont effect weapon on the off-hand, but it does.
Tried it myself with both ruby and emerald. Ppl also said +attack speed on the offhand doesnt work. I tried it, and it does.(no attack speed bonus vs attack speed bonus offhand wielding) Seems like everyone trying to undermine dual wielding. Feel alone dual wielding dh on inferno. But I wont give up, not at least until I got half of my full dual wield dream set. |

i as a dh also , you shoudent have any problem killing in the early stage. try only using hunger arrow and trap for now . if got companions to hire . go for "Enchantress"

Im currently lvl50 at Nighmare mode with 3.7k dmg, 18k hp. Nighmare mode is relatively easy from what I expect it to be, so Im going full dex build for Hell mode. No point stacking up vit if elite can K.O me in one shot. Can solo all the way to Diablo with no issue in current build in nightmare mode.
Can sifu that already been through hell and inferno give some advice on the skill setup? Currently training for hell for the setup below Mouse 1)Hungering shot 2)Impale KB 1)SS 2)Prep 3)Caltrop 4)vault I wonder if I should replace Vault with the Cluster Arrow? (shadow rune) |

nightmare is fine to stack more on dex i guess
in hell need to have a little more hp pool otherwise white mobs also can 1 hit u. i managed to co-op with a fren until leoric with only 4k hp lolz coz i thot that amount is normal for us =.= afta that kinda hard to survive especially from mortar bomb(mybe i is slowpoke to run lol). now with 10k hp, still dies of course but feel better |

Level 58 DH here. Now playing hell Act II with DH but doing fine with Elites and Champs. I went for the kill fast with 16k damage + 100% criticial + 200 Critical Dmg but to buff myself up with low HP which is currently at 30k HP i bought all resistance and physical resistance gear just to have balance. So far so good until I met Frozen + Molten + Arcane Elites.
Just a tip for those in Nightmare, buff your DPS with dex, crit hit chance, critical damage % and attack speed % gears and lay traps throughout the whole game even with bosses. You'll be fine. Diablo himself? Use smoke screen lots, run hit run hit. For hell, start farming for gold and buff yourself like crazy. One hand bow or two hand bow? Find a bow with high dex or bow with high dps, attack speed or bow with extra damage % and critical damage %?

lay out caltrop and use entangling arrow to slow down enemy once they in caltrop. let caltrop do damage... weapon slot in life on hit gem...purple gem move as fast as u can when u set up traps. ...use passive skill. if thing get worse use rain of vengence with dark cloud rune to wipe out the mobs that trap on caltrop.. that is my strategy.. |

i am going full dex, all slotted place for my equiptment is fill with Perfect Square Emerald and i want to make me build have the highest DPS, low health is not a concern to me.. how can i can a DPS much much higher? currently using capalang gear i got 40k DPS.. i am using a 2 handed bow. 920 DPS. if i use the crossbow, will my total DPS become higher? i wanna but the 1200DPS crossbow but sked later if buy not many changes.. pls help |

any skill combination for inferno act 1? i just stepped into it yesterday and completed first quest only... i was not being careful and got hit by grandpa zombie, 1 hit caused me 24k HP.... my current build is, Mouse : Hungering Arrow + Spray of Teeth Elemental Arrow + Nerther Tentacles Numpad : 1 - Smoke Screen + Lingering Fog (Increase the duration of the effect to 3 seconds) 2 - Preparation + Backup Plan (There is a 30% chance that Preparation cooldown will not be triggered) 3 - Impale + Grievous Wounds (Critical Hits cause 100% additional damage) 4 - Mark of Death + Death Toll (Heal attackers for 1% of the damage done to the marked target) Passive : Archery SharpShooter Vengeance dps : 26k armour : 2k hp : 35k |

well if you slot sharpshooter, the critical goes up to 100% eventually.. means your first shot will be 50% extra of the critical dmg.. im guessing that's the dmg that showed on tooltip.. we should look for the base dmg i guess (lowest number of the dmg away from town..maybe?)

that's what i prefer atm, since we're always kiting and shooting.. not constantly shooting..
however if you have cc skills slotted, like screaming skull or webshot.. dual wield might be a good idea too.. faster speed = more cc = mobs can't get close to u fighting boss dps wise i think both will be the same, considernig the weapons dps are equal.. since dual wield has really fast aspd.. i'll try dual wield when i have good 1h xbows, right now only have a legit 2h xbow.. btw i tried wielding 1h xbow and a shield.. it looks really funny lol.. wonder how'd it be  |

Hi guys , due to lack of time to experiment and to get experience from DH players here,
I was theorycrafting a Hatred build would be more effective that a Discipline build. Currently this is how my Discipline heavy skill set goes , Level 33 (lolnub i know) 1)Vault (Rune-Rattle & Roll) 2)Preparation (Rune-Invigoration) 3)Caltrops (Rune-Jagged Spikes) 4)Rapid Fire (Rune-Fire Support) Primary attack mode - Entangling Shot (Rune-Chain Shot) Secondary attack mode - Impale (Rune-Impact) Passive skills - Cull of the weak,Archery,Hot pursuit. Offense; So basically it will be primary attack Chain Slow mobs and Cull of the weak deals extra damage to slowed mobs. When needing to deal lots of damage fast will use Rapid Fire Impale -I use it against Flyers,Mortars,Teleport usually Defense; Caltrops to slow and deal damage (if surrounded or walled) Vault to escape if (surrounded or walled) Basically I'd use Invigoration to refuel Discipline if emptied and at tight times when fighting bosses I constantly need to run more for discipline to recharge. Will be most vurnerable when Invigoration is charging. Anyone wanna share their platy setup? lol |

hey guys, lets do some testing, please remove all the passive skill and post up in the field as below, lets find out which passive skill which actually boots up the damage.
Type of Bow : Bow / 1 Hand Crossbow / 2 Hand Crossbow Clean Damage : Damage without Sharp Shooter : Damage without Archery : Damage with Sharp Shooter & Archery : i think from the above we should know... Sharp shooter = boost 3% critical chance every sec until 100% Archery = Bow : 15% Increase damage 2 Hand CrossBow : 50% Critical Hit Damage 1 Hand CrossBow : 10% Critical Hit Chance As what i observed, when i'm tele to town to sell stuffs, my damage will be keep on increasing until the extend - the critical chance becoming 100%, add-on with Archery : 50% critical hit damage, it will be omgosh.. (i was using 2 hand crossbow that time) whereby for 1 Hand bow, it doesn't make a big effect for this, because it only increase the critical hit chance by 10% which adds a little damage to our dps only... please correct me if i am wrong So, basically 2 handed crossbow will only make a big damage on the first hit, and everything will reset to the original stats when in the battle with slower att speed compare to 1 handed crossbow/bow This post has been edited by NeoXeroX: May 28 2012, 12:32 PM |

well simply said, when u slot archery and sharpshooter.. the dmg tooltip shown is the 50% critical dmg number...
wonder if u slot steady aim it'll be calculated or not |

steady aim increases damage, alot.................my damage from 60k -> 71k with steady aim, was using tactical advantage before that

Great Tips for DH want to Power Level 51 ~ 60.
Stat Setting 7:3 Dex:Vit Skill deployed Must be Elative Mode Jugged Trap, Battle Scar(60% hp recover), Valley of Death(Mark), Dark Cloud(Rain of Death) Scatter Shot, Rapid Fire( i switch to ferrot companion for more gold drop ) EQ Setting 2hand Crossbow + Quiver Why? Your skill DMG Count only your Weapon dmg ONLY, not its Atk Speed. Meaning : 680DPS BOW dmg is same with 680DPS 2hand Crossbow. But the dmg count in your skill, eg jugged trap. 680DPS Crossbow will be 30% higher than Bow Because , Bow atk/second = 1.4 2h Crossbow atk/second = 1.1 With lower DMG, bow can achieve higher DPS because faster atk speed. BUT The skill do not count your Weapon Atk Speed, count only DMG spread. So, for maximum Skill dmg, the finest choice is 2h Crossbow. Lowest dmg spread, Highest DMG. For newbie, you can continue using hand crossbow ( highest atk speed, lowest dmg, largest dmg spread ) Theoretically, your normal dmg is meaningless. Skill dmg is much more effective. Gold Find minimum 80% You need to upgrade your gear every level ( at least one ) i switch 6pcs 2h crossbow from 52 ~ 60 Magic find Simple Useless. Why? 100%you need gold. but not 100% the rare gear you drop is what you want, and more importantly, and worse - its worthless. I have stack naphelem valor x5 with magic find 104%, drop nothing usefull for 10 hours farm..... ( in hell mode ) Extra Get life on hit when your dps is low do the math. Place to Level Simply act 3 Open space do not suitable for leveling DH. When there is a lot of door/stairs, you can effectively place your trap along the stairs, doors. in Act 3, the level design simply sweet spot for DH. Started my hell act2, damn those elite mob in the desert k.o me in 1 hit. I need to edit my skill list. Caltrop works best with Vault? But seems like caltrop have no effect on elite mob, they walk right through it. Meh.

when u did a filter in the AH, looking for Weapon Damage %, does the weapon damage % calculated from all the total DPS? or just from the weapon itself? example: 2 handed Bow 1200 DPS 230-720 damage + 100 Fire Damage + 50% Damage <-- this one 50% from the weapon or from our total DPS? coz some of DH total DPS just crazy.. 70K+ la.. 80Kplus la.. dafuq~ |

In Inferno, IAS will help your skill animations play out faster. This is important up to the point where you can comfortably stutter step (Shoot 1 arrow, run back, shoot another) to kite.
After that, arguably damage per hit becomes more important as its more resource effective (Impale, etc) and wastes less time doing the same damage. At some point (2.7+ attacks per sec) you'll be able to do two shots per round, but until you get to that point, its more cost effective to build damage over IAS. |

This is important up to the point where you can comfortably stutter step (Shoot 1 arrow, run back, shoot another) to kite. ok... letsay i got powderfool bow/xbow ady..After that, arguably damage per hit becomes more important as its more resource effective (Impale, etc) and wastes less time doing the same damage. Let say you have 1000dps weapon and 1500dex ...
Radiant star ruby +20-40dmg ... Radiant star emerald +100% critical hit damage... Ruby = dmg*1500dex, you get +300 min dmg / +600 max dmg.. Emerald = total damage 15k + 100% = 30k.. With SS passive ability.. Your first shot will always be critical which is 30k.. Correct me . |

Damage from 100% crit of Sharpshooter cannot be used in comparison, that is just exagerated amount. Must look at the base Damage (lowest it can go after 1st shot), that should be the average.

yeah the inflated values are just for self satisfaction.... and those crazy 300k crits only comes from Impale last rune, which is not all that good vs elite/champ packs..

Any of you have problem with vaults? Whenever I vault and immediately use secondary attack/primary attack, what happens instead was I just vault back into the mobs (vault out and vault back in =.=) and I die.

Nope, it's me vaulting out and vaulting back in. Can see from the animation and sound. Also happens on regular mobs. Always happen when I am under time pressure. Eg, need to vault, secondary attack and vault again to avoid fast mortar mobs. But I vault out and then vault back in. Perhaps it's due to lantency. I'm having like 300++ which is probably not good enough.

I also kena this many times liau.. not sure if vault skill has some delay before jumping out. sometimes when i see i'm not vaulting, i had to spam it few more times then and up vault out and back into elite mobs. |

Lol, Vault is not where your mouse is pointing iinm, It's more like which sides are your character facing when you press the vault key.
Also, the vault in and vault out stuff, it's the delay. Only happens when you jam your keyboard as if your latency is <1ms lol |

I just rolled a new DH today. Already Act 4 Normal and it took me approx 4 hours of playing time, could be less. Now I understand DH's power.
