diamond skin only good if you stack enough Armour at 9k and 900 all resist and play as melee wizard with cooldown on crits, as melee you dont need high dps, i saw wizard with 15kdps+- can kill diablo in inferno, as long as you can tank his damage, rather than getting high dps and one hit die...

Well yeah, but judging by his question and caveats, I don't think he's gonna be splurging monies into 9k armor and 900 resists right?

And of course you can kill anything with low DPS as long you can tank, that's rather obvious. It's a matter of choice. I play 52k dps, <40khp, 4k armor buffed, non existent resistance, and I don't get one-shotted by Diablo with force armor. And still kill him.

So yeah, as melee you don't need high dps. As range, you don't need high armor/resists. That's pretty much self explanatory right

And stacking up to about 30-35k dps is proly alot cheaper than stacking that much resists. With movespeed and proper kiting, he will be able to handle it right. I've been there done that

I get 43731.31004, which is pretty close to your DPS (just copy paste above into excel). Not sure where in your code went wrong though Since your terlebih, and the other values look right, am assuming it's due to the application of skill boosts? (since I can't see it from screenshot)

but kiting is not for everyone, not everyone good at it, i still finding my style whether kite or melee, there are pros and cons and both is item depended. in kiting i found it hard playing against fire-bombardment elites, but with melee they hardly give a fight, however with melee wizard those chain elites are bad ass when they come with skill to pull you near them or teleport.

it is very much depended on how you would like to play it.

but i found out that, kiting wizard is mouse depended, while melee wizard is keyboard depended..

Ah yes, of course kiting not for everyone. Just trying to solve his immediate problem lol. Considering he mentioned don't say "get near gearz" etc, increasing his dmg, abit of hp, use force armor, get movespeed won't be as expensive as getting right gear for melee build. Most would agree melee build one much more gear dependent. Kite one can get away with less gear (you just take longer to kill)

Agree with ellimist. Kiting is the cheaper way to solve the problem. Getting 12% movement speed boots and a powerful 2-hand weapon (cheaper than 1h + source) is a good way to start tackling inferno.

he did some extent of kiting in hell difficulty, but at the same time he also tanked with diamond skin when mobs are near. i'm not sure how well he would coupe with both play styles.

any recommended skill that he should try out? any inputs regarding the skill he uses??

currently the setup he's using is something like

3: some spinning satelite balls/ blizzard
4: some shield

Just my humble opinion

Boils down to play style I guess.

Not sure bout melee build, but for inferno kite, no using pew pew lazer. Think actually melee build oso don't use pew pew lazer one. Was a good spell, but not very inferno friendly unless you have massive gears I guess.

Frost nova is useful in melee, can be used for kiting, but I don't use it much. Since it's a defensive sort of spell, can be replaced with teleport (wormhole or fracture rune) is useful for kiting, and gets you out of jailer / pass walls of wallers. As a whole gives you mobility. Combine this with illusionist passive, you'll have plenty mobility/escape

Shield am gonna assume it's energy armor (force armor rune), if not change it to such

Replace pew pew lazer with hydra (venom rune) if he plans to do kiting. In addition to your regular attack, Venom hydra believe it or not, will be your main dps. Works well with blizzard (the slower the target, the more they get damaged by acid pools, which stack, which deals massive dmg when they stack)

like ellimist & alexdino said, diamond skin is no longer useful unless you have lots of def and resist and armor.

D3 is really like a piece of puzzles game where how you want to strategize your built.

Based from his play style i think he likes to play AOE spells. with range?

pew pew lazer? the channeling spells works great if you do not increase your attack speed, else your arcane power get drain even faster. IAS dont' work on channeling spells.

is either melee wizard or kiting wizard, dont build the hybrid, i have never see it before, and i dont know how good will it at inferno...

frost nova, only useful for melee,

blizzard is for kiting, work well with hydra or shock pulse with piercing orb, with cold blood and temporal flux as passive.

and pew pew lazer.. i never use it after normal difficulty

i stacked aspd actually, since its gonna nerf i'm saving up money to see how much nerf its going to get. if its too much i'm changing to int gear

Depends on how your bro wants to play. His built seems to be halfway between a melee wizard and a kiter tho. If he wants to melee, there are some builds a few pages back. But here's what I think:

1. Diamond skin - keep this if you really want to melee, otherwise, teleport with fracture/wormhole is better. Get the illusionist passive skill too.
2. Frost nova - again, a melee skill.
3. Arcane orb shield thingy - really only for melee builds, and even then, not the best you can have. Explosion would be better. Blizzard - this is for kiting.
4. some shield - I hope this is Energy armor with force rune

rclick laserpewpew (aka Disintergrate or Ray of frost?) - These are good skills if you can stand still and shoot. Problem is, inferno is almost impossible to tank, so standing still means dying.

Think about channeling for a sec, use really low IAS weapon (avoid AP drainage with same dmg), use arcane return on crit hit, and HP steal per hit.
