I started a female Wizard and I have the weirdest problem. For some reason, the way this character starts off I don't want to equip any armor on her. Is this normal?

Is it just me or what?

Seems like every single wizard out there is switching specs to Critical Mass tanking build.

Every wizard in my friend's list is playing that build.
Considering how expensive repair bills cost, tanky build seems like the way to go to avoid unnecessary deaths.

I got a bad feeling that they gonna nerf Critical Mass badly.
Probably implement something like "Critical Mass can only proc every 0.5-1s, cannot proc multiple times within a short period of time"

Currently, i just stand there and tank shit on molten and stuff lika a BOSS in act 3 and the whole game just revolves around how fast you can spam 234234234234234234234 with unlimited AP and without lagging out.

element is just aesthetic, has nothing to do with the weapon's dps.. except cold which has the numbing effect.

hi bro
do you mean, for example, "+254 - 512 Fire Damage" stated on the weapon doesn't mean anything at all? cry.gif
I'm confuse on which bonus stats on the weapon does reflected on the DPS of the weapon

weapon %
element damage
min/max damage
Attack Speed
Crit %
Crit Damage

can someone please enlighten me on which of the above stats on the weapon will reflect it on the DPS of the weapon?

Weapon A
...............

50 DPS
+ 10 - 20 Fire Damage
+ 20 % Weapon Damage
+ 5% attack Speed

vs

Weapon B
...............

50 DPS
+ 25 % Weapon Damage
+ 5% attack Speed

which one is better and why?

Sorry, what I meant was.. the "+254 - 512" is the added dmg.
Just like "+254 min dmg" &"+512 max dmg", it's the same.

The aesthetic part is "+254 - 512 fire dmg". Fire is the element.. which gives the shineeey fiery thingy you see on the weapon. Same goes to holy, poison, lightning etc.

It will also effect how your mobs die.. like fire will leave burning bodies, lightning will have their bodies burst into chunks, arcane gloweee purple stuffs. thumbup.gif

Both produces the same dps (50), so technically, they're identical.

The big 50 dps number shows the total damage per second the weapon will do (includes all the +xxx).
The easiest is to look at the min - max value below the big dps number (50). That has all the calculation done already.

Weapon A can be doing 50 dps with an aspd of 0.95, whereas weapon B doing the same at 1.58. I would definitely choose B in this case. Don't like slow moving stuffs tongue.gif But they both produces the same output.

Only these:
Weapon damage %
Element damage
Min / max damage
Attack speed

Crit % and Crit damage are not reflected in the DPS of the weapon, but rather part of your character's DPS calculation. Think someone posted the fomula for character's DPS few pages back.

I am playing this built and is kinda OP, not sure how they going to nerf it but i am almost confirmed that they will going to do something about it which is suk... cause it would just force wiz to go back to kiting....

It's okay and should be manageable. Kinda depends on other stats too e.g. dps, and health. Actually, you should just calculate your EHP.

I have a set of tank gears which I'm comfortable to play with. But I myself don't play much tank since frens of mine are tankers.

I also do not notice many wiz tank in public games.

It's just happened that most of your frens play wizard. smile.gif

Btw, unless you're talking about act 1, act 2 onwards you do need decent quality tank gears lol. Else you'll be paying as much repair bill as the glass canons.

this is low already.
with 200-300 resist you might do okay for act1.
beyond act2 u will die horribly unless u're very good at running/kiting.

if u're using energy armor with prismatic rune then you're good.
i have about 600 resist overall and i still couldn't solo ghom properly.

Well, the trick is to run around in square. So when you're back to the starting point, the cloud will disappear just in time.

That is called the "Out of Time" debuff, which means you're killing it too slow. It is a damage overtime aura.

the golden one (champs) dont go enrage. u can kite them sweet and kill them slowly.

the blue ones have a timer, if u take too long to kill them, they go on enrage. that's when u get the skull curse on you. it will be almost impossible to kill them in enrage mode, unless u have a monk/barb that can tank them without dying.
so you spam on ur diamond skin, get in range to dps like hell till it breaks, then u run off it's aoe until ur diamond skin CD.
use venom for dots.

alternatively if you do not have a good tank (most cases).
let it reset.. go back to ur town get a repair, clear ur bags and get back into the fight, with the boss back to full HP.

well yes, without doing square or the eight figure, it's impossible to solo.
piece of cake before patch 1.0.3.
most wizards that had solo-ed ghom before, they now can't solo ghom after the patch.
the poison is overwhelming.
