QUOTE(shinkawa @ Jun 19 2012, 03:19 PM) 30k health + 900 all resist + 9000 armor = 60k health + 300 all resist + 3000 armor wrong. even before doing the math also you should know from experience that 300resist/3000armor has a HUGE difference from 600resist/6000armor, what more 900/9000 MATH: 30k health + 900 all resist + 9000 armor = 480k for ranged, 685k for melee (we have extra 30% reduction) 60k health + 300 all resist + 3000 armor = 240k for ranged, 342k for melee. [edit] I see that you are just copy pasting from that guy's equations. Most of his math is sound, but at the end he makes a brain fart or something. QUOTE(Deimos Tel`Arin @ Jun 19 2012, 03:31 PM) seems like higher armor is better than higher resist. All else being equal, 10 armor = 1 resist, IF your armor:resist ratio is currently 10:1 That means if you had to choose between a piece of gear that gave you 50 armor vs a piece that gave you 4 resist, you would choose the 50 armor piece. However if your resist was significantly lower than a 10:1 armor:resist ratio, then it would make more mathemetical sense to take the 4 resist piece

QUOTE(Deimos Tel`Arin @ Jun 19 2012, 03:35 PM) 5k armor 700 all resist With these numbers, you've got 92.13% damage reduction (62.5% from armor, 70% from resist, 30% from monk). If you pump armor to 7k, it becomes 93.70% damage reduction If you pump resist to 900, it becomes 93.44% damage reduction only. So you can see that because your resist is quite a bit higher than your armor (using the 10:1 ratio), you gain more benefit from 10 armor than you do from 1 resist.

QUOTE(KenAragorn @ Jun 19 2012, 04:53 PM) resist: 412 all dps: 3.xk hp: 39k (i think...can't remember) Resist should be fine. I run ~300resist all only in my Magic Find gear when doing Butcher runs. Mostly have no problems clearing all elites on the way to boss. your DPS though ... 3k? You sure you're not mistaken? Just buy a cheap 700-800 dps dagger for like 100k then can clear act1 liao.

QUOTE(Ash1988 @ Jun 20 2012, 08:14 AM) Feeling like in hell difficulty. Killed inferno belial and going smooth act 3 lol. Yeah I fooled around a bit in Act2 / Act3 and my initial opinions are that Blizzard went way too far and over-nerfed the difficulty now. I mean, standing there facetanking an elite swarm with invulnerable minions and never dropping below 3/4 hp? In act 3?!? really?!?

QUOTE(don^don @ Jun 20 2012, 03:19 PM) aiyoyo, i can survive well (solo) at inferno act 1, then i burit itchy go act 2, the first mob outside the city already can ko me. really sad... any build or playstyle to recommend? haiz... so hard to play. huh, it's nerfed so much now also cannot survive? Look for about 6000 armor and 600 resist and you should be able to power through entire act2

Eh lots of exaggeration going on in that thread. I've got 730 resist and 7k armor (using mantra of evasion and +armor rune), and some elites in act3 still f*cking hurt. Like that elite I just ran into in a tight corridor who vortex'ed me into 6k/tick arcane sentry

My experiences with running a couple of Butcher runs with 150% base MF gear:
From 65 rares (yes, I know it's a small sample size):
ilvl61: 18% ilvl62: 6% ilvl63: 4%
Cool that we can get ilvl62's and 63's from Act1 now but it is a pretty low drop rate.

QUOTE(Deimos Tel`Arin @ Jun 21 2012, 01:51 PM) drops % table for convenience reference: MF% - 0% - (100%) - [200%] ■Inferno - Act I ■iLvl 61: 17.7% (35.4%) [53.1%] ■iLvl 62: 7.9% (17.8%) [23.7%] ■iLvl 63: 2.0% (4%) [6%] I don't think your "MF 100% 200%" figures are correct. Did you get them off some official source or you just assume? I don't think you can just happily say OK with MF 200% you will get 53.1% ilvl61 drops. More likely (from what I see also), MF increases your overall number / chance of drops, but the ratio still stays the same.

QUOTE(Deimos Tel`Arin @ Jun 21 2012, 03:48 PM) hmmm i think it is correct to a certain degree lor. nvm i try a few runs tonight see hows the result. I still think the way you are extrapolating MF to mean "higher percentage for ilvl 61-63 items" is wrong lor. I farm some more, now my sample size is 125 rare drops, all from act 1, and it is still: ilvl 61 - 23 (18.4%) ilvl 62 - 10 (8.0%) ilvl 63 - 4 (3.2%) I have a base MF of 150%, so most of my drops came with MF hovering around 180%-225%. By your calculation I should be getting 50% ilvl 61 drops, but that isn't the case.

QUOTE(Deimos Tel`Arin @ Jun 21 2012, 09:55 PM) err no u still dun get what i am trying to say. u cannot just "count rares" only.
MF% - 0% - (100%) - [200%] ■Inferno - Act I ■iLvl 61: 17.7% (35.4%) [53.1%] ■iLvl 62: 7.9% (17.8%) [23.7%] ■iLvl 63: 2.0% (4%) [6%] So are you telling me that at 200% MF, 82.8% of all your drops will be ilvl 61-63?

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jun 22 2012, 03:08 PM) i mean, my earth ally can tank belial without taking much dmg while i actually take more damage than him. I don't think I've ever seen my earth ally die even once in a boss fight. I guess maybe to Kuule's two bodyguards but other than that he survive like a champ

QUOTE(ksyuen @ Jun 27 2012, 02:02 AM) this one im not sure. but from what i think, it is only 800. about which one is better, i think is depends on ur damage. if u have confidence that u constantly hit very high damage, then u can consider lifesteal. but the best is this lifesteal+LoH Lifesteal is nerfed to 20% only in Inferno. i.e. if your regular hits are 20k, and you have 5% LifeSteal, you only get back 20,000 x 5% x 20% = 200 life per hit. QUOTE(Deimos Tel`Arin @ Jun 29 2012, 01:06 PM) fuiyoh why u stack resist poison (together with all resist) also? Well, with one with everything, it makes more sense to stack the cheapest resist mah For me, I stack cold, because when I started searching for resist gear, so happens my cold resist was highest so I went with that lol. Act3 after Ghom, another mini wall. Those white mobs also damn f*cking hurt even with 900+ resist 9000+ armor.
