What did Rafa win before Valencia ? What did Villa Boas win before Porto ? How about Klopp or Conte before becoming head coaches for Dortmund and Juventus respectively? Who was Shankly before he ended up at Liverpool ?

Sometimes, to break the cycle - you have to do the unexpected. You have to go for the long shot and take the risk. I've no idea if Martinez will be that man, as there are no guarantees in football. But he's young, modern and energetic. If he or any other manager for that matter, can inject those characteristics into the team then we stand a chance to surge forward.

IMO, whoever sits in the Manager position will have to improve on the team in the EPL. He can be a "very" qualified and experience person or someone who is fresh but has many ideas to improve on the team.

We, as fans can afford to be sentimental since we don't make the business decisions. Our job as fans is to support the club through thick and thin and if we do contribute to the business (through merchandise buying etc), then it is good for the club. Wanting success and trophies doesn't have to come at the expense of sentiment. We can still show a quiet appreciation to the club if they had tried and failed. There is no shame in that. We should appreciate the past which makes us realise how precious victories are and we don't take it for granted having fallen from grace like what happen in this season. .

Last bu not leaset, hopefully the Reds will rise up again and challenge the Top Four position.

I dunno how many of us watches Wigan play, but during our games against them, they look like a good attacking side. Football pundits did mention that Martinez team plays nice football but were unlucky not to get the results.

But then again, wasn't that the story of our season as well? Hmmm, mix feelings..

Wigan = Reds.
Hmmm, so the coach or manager plays similar style?

Unfortunately, the new gaffer, just like Kenny, won't be afforded the time to implement such a system. He won't have time to try and test it. It will either work or it won't. Fergie uses English and British players, he always has been. Gary Neville, Wes Brown, David Beckham, Darren Fletcher, John O'Shea, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Johnny Evans, Phil Jones, Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand just to name a few. Half of these blokes would look average in our side but because he's been given the time to develop a method of play, the team looks good despite losing big names. This is what I would like for us to strive and emulate hence my constant call for patience. Unfortunately however, time isn't something we have anymore.

Totally agreed with the above comments.
Whoever is in charge of the Reds should implement a system like what SAF has done for ManU, or PG for Barcelona. The players in these 2 clubs play according to their "system" and if without the key players, the back-up players also can filled the void.
I do not see the Reds play in such a way.
