Personally I don't support Rafa's "comming back". While I think he did a great job at Liverpool previously, I don't think he can reinovate the team and ditch the defensive frailty mentality that seems to affect Liverpool.

We need someone more defensively astute and build on the attacks. We need a manager in the big leagues to instill defensive integrity into the team and acquire players to spearhead the attacks along with Suarez and Gerrard.

Therefore I find Fabio Cappelo as an ideal candidate. Defensively astute. Have the reputation to bring in class players and a wrold class talented manager

Fu*k, why is Liverpool getting Martinez after all the available talent out there. Fabio Capello is a much better choice than Roberto. and so is AVB.

Roberto did well with Wigan, no doubt but he does not have the pedigree of moulding and managing a big team like Liverpool. Managing Wigan (where you can lose 3-4 games in a row and not get torn apart by the media) and Liverpool (always under the media spotlight) is 2 completely different thing. Look at what happened to Roy Hodgson.....never learn the lesson, Liverpool? Cammon.

I think we are lucky to have FSG really. I like their decisions, they make sense.

Rodgers too, I'll fully support our new gaffer. Hope siggurdson is as good as he thinks.

Puhlease....Bredan roggers? I give him 6 months tops....another confirm Roy Hodgson...
Honestly I really don't think he has the tactical ability and capacity to manage a club like Liverpool.
Swansea is one thing, Liverpool is whole nather ball game.
Lost 5x in a row in Swansea, not a big problem
Lost 5x in a row in Liverpool, you're gonna get nailed by the press, supporters, shareholders and

Well he has gotten a newly promoted League One club into the Premier League in his first season and then took them to 11th place in the first season of Premier League. That's an impressive feat no matter how you put it.

Of course, I agree with you that managing Liverpool is a whole different ball game, but your lack of faith is the very reason 'supporters' these days hammer managers after 5 loses. The club hasn't even announce his appointment and you're already hammering him. A bit of optimism won't hurt.

I understand your sentiments.
But Liverpool (unlike Swansea) CANNOT afford to lose 5 games in a row.
We are aiming for Champions league football NOT mid table safety! It's a traversty if we end up mid table again...
We need winners...

And are you saying Rodgers is not a winner? His team had 12 wins, 11 draws and 15 loses. 11th place in the Premier League. And to achieve that while trying to play football the right way despite having limited resources?

If you're basing your judgement on his thin CV, just look at Rafa and Mourinho. Had Valencia and Porto based their appointment on CVs, would they achieve domestic and European success then?

Every great manager has to start somewhere, at least with Rodgers there are evidence that suggest he isn't merely just a flavour of the month. No, he wasn't my first, second or third choice but heck, I'm excited to see what he could bring to the table.

I'm not saying he's not a winner.
I'm merely saying he may not have the track record to manage such a big club like Liverpool.
Granted, he did well with Swansea with limited resources. but that was over 2 season (which, by no means, considered a "track record")
Also remembered he didn't excatly do well with Watford and Reading.
And to now manager a club as big as Liverpool, is i think, asking too much of him.

Rafa and Mourinho were different.
They were Champions League winner as well as domestic league winners with Valencia and Porto respectively.
Managing in the championship or even managing a very respectable 11th place in the EPL is one thing, guiding your team to win the domestic league and the Champions League is another completely different thing all together.

Yes. Every manager has to start from somewhere.
But that dosen't have to be with such a big club.
He could have gone to Aston Villa or some other mid table clubs and build reputation from there.
Managing at Liverpool is like throwing a small boy who just learnt how to swim into the wide open ocean.

Further with so many choices around, why Rodgers?
Why go for someone untested and unproven (2 sucessful season is hardly considered as a good track record more so that he did not win any throphies)?
