Danny has left a helpful comment. I would also love to hear some point of views on my latest redesign. Thanks.

Your blog looks cleaner now but why is there a 45 degrees black slant on top of the rounded corner? (at top-right corner)

I must agree with you in your blog article that font-weight: bold is ugly.

XHTML validation are crap, do I need to add alt="" attributes to all my <img> tags? Just makes the site loads longer. How many visitors visit a blog via WAP or Lynx? Besides, even a validated site still displays incorrectly in IE. Screw IE.

colexe - i just play with the mockup in psd and like the look that way. People said its cool and makes the layout less boxy, but mostly it's just me and my weird taste. As for your points about validating site, well firstly adding an alt tag to your image or a title tag to your link will not make your site load longer, at least not in a noticeable way. But it helps people who read using screenreader like JAWS. It is also a good defensive design practice, if for some reason your image link is broken, people still be able to see the alternate text that explains what the image is about.

Adding title tag to link will let you know what the link is before clicking it (hover over a link to see the effect). And most importantly, i dont validate to make me feel good, i do that to iron out layout bug, ironically mostly in IE. If smth is not right with your page, you validate it first to make sure you close every div tags and so on, and if the problem is not there, that means it lies in your CSS. So validation and IE css rendering bugs are two very different things. In fact, validating your page helps you to figure out your IE bugs.

Hope that helps.

Yea there's a few advantage adding alt="" attribs I very much agree to that ;-)

It's just that this feeling came to me before like as if I've just doned a list of stupid things to get my site validated.

But yea, always good to have a site validated, you should not say "i dont validate to make me feel good", but you should say "I validate to make me feel good!", i feel good having to be able to have a site sucessfully validated!

By the way alvin, do you know if there's any CSS Hack that is only visible to IE6 but invisible to IE4/5?

simple, yet nice design. but the NU font (pixel font) for the top banner is not really 'in' with the design.
