MSI GAMING TOURNAMENT 2012 - Is Back (Updated)
MGT 2012 Event Ambassador 
For MSI Gaming Tournament (MGT) 2012, the Grand Finals consist of 2 different categories. The first category is the University Category with 5 universities participating in its own qualifier. Top 3 of each university qualifier will qualify to the Grand Finals – University Category offering RM5,000 Cash Prize, MSI Z77A-G43 Mainboard, Kingston 60GB SSDnow V+200, TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless-N Router and MSI Gaming Mousepad for the champion. Team Ladies, is invited to compete in this category as well.
On the other hand, there’s one qualifier for Open Category where anyone can participate as long as they holds a Malaysian IC. Top 8 of this category will qualify to the Grand Finals – Open category offering RM5,000 Cash Prize, Kingston 60GB SSDnow V+200, TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless-N Router and MSI Gaming Mousepad for the champion
There’s also a special treat, David vs Goliath in the Grand Finals. Details will only be released during that day itself. The prize for this special treat is RM1,000 + Kingston HyperX PnP 1866 RAM + MGT Challenge Trophy.

General
Game: Defense of the Ancient
Map Version: 6.74c or the latest version
Competition Teaming Method: 5 vs 5
Game Mode: Captain Mode
Tournament Structure: Single Elimination
Grand Final Qualifying Method
i. Top 3 of each University Qualifier Leg will earn the Grand Final Qualification as a Team. No changes of players of the team are allowed. Players/Teams are allowed to apply for changes. The Organizing Committee holds the rights to approve/dismiss any application.
ii. Top 8 of the Open Qualifier will proceed to the Grand Final for Championship Title. No changes of players of the team are allowed. Players/Teams are allowed to apply for changes. The Organizing Committee holds the rights to approve/dismiss any application.
iii. In the event of emergency cases where some of the players could not attend the Grand Final, the respective team’s captain must seek for consultation from the organizer, MSI Malaysia 2 weeks before the actual event.
Official Attire
Players must put on MSI Gaming Tournament 2012 official t-shirt throughout the whole tournament.
Substitutions
One substitution players are allowed for each team with the condition he/she is not already a Qualifier Player.
Match Setup
i. Every match begins with a coin toss and winner of the coin toss get to choose:
Sentinel / Scourge.
Draft Order (1st / 2nd pick).
ii. The side that plays Sentinel will be the game host.
Sharing
i. Sharing of item is allowed as long as the game permits.
ii. Gamers are not allowed to suicide to pass Rapier intentionally.
iii. Sharing control is allowed.
Item Limitation
There is no item limitation or restriction.
Item Pooling
Item pooling of any sort is prohibited.
Items bought from teammates cannot be sold. (i.e. Tango, Flask, Clarity, Scroll of Town Portal)
Backdoor
Backdoor is allowed.
Hero Limitation
There is no hero limitation or restriction.
Winning Condition
i. Successfully destroy opponent’s Tree or Throne
ii. Should any team choose to concede/surrender by the code “GG” in the midst of the game, a default win will be awarded to the other respective opponent.
iii. Should any team accumulated 3 warnings in the course of the tournament, an auto win will be awarded to the other respective opponent.
iv. Should any unexpected events of the game happens, the winner decision will be made by the head marshal of the tournament.
Setup and Configuration
i. Teams will be given 5 minutes to warm up before the match officially starts.
ii. All teams must use their official IGN and the team name tag.
iii. No non-standard game settings or third party applications that affect gameplay may be used except Warkey.
iv. Action will be taken at the tournament marshal’s discretion if teams being caught using either during the gameplay.
v. In the event of a dispute, the tournament marshal will review the match replay and action will be taken at the tournament marshal discretion.
vi. The result of every match will be final if there’s no dispute between the two competing teams 10 minutes after the game has ended. However, the Organizing Committee has the absolute right to make changes in any point of time.
vii. Participants of the tournament must be ready for their matches as teams can claim a default win if the opposing team doesn’t show up 15 minutes after the scheduled time.
Personal Equipment
i. Gamers are encouraged to bring their own gaming equipment but will be required to provide the drivers on a flash drive for installation if needed.
ii. The organizer will not be held responsible for any damage arising to the installation.
iii. The organizer will not be responsible to provide full equipment to the participants.
Disconnections & Save Game Agenda
i. Competing teams are advised to save their games as frequently depending on the necessity as the game progresses.
ii. Competing teams are advised to save after first blood or after any major battle in the progress of the game under the agreement of both competing teams.
iii. The organizer will not be responsible should any participating teams fails to obtain a save file should a PC crash occurs.
iv. In the event of any gameplay problem, gamers are advised to immediately pause the game and consult the tournament marshal for further action.
v. In the event of any disconnection of technicality error for the first 5 minutes of the game or before “first-blood kill,” the match will be restarted. Both competing teams must pick the same heroes & proceed to same starting lane with default items as before disconnection occurred. On initial creep contact, players may choose to switch lanes.
vi. In the event of any disconnection of technicality errors, which do not apply to the condition above, the match will be reloaded from the last saved game file.
vii. In the event when saved game file is unable to be retrieved, decisions could be varied depending on game time:
10 to 20 minutes of gameplay
• The side with an advantage of 15 kills and above will be awarded a default win.
• In the event of no advantage occurs in both teams, the match will continue without the disconnected hero.
20 to 30 minutes of gameplay
• The side with an advantage of 20 kills and above will be awarded a default win.
• In the event of no advantage occurs in both teams, the match will continue without the disconnected hero.
After 30 minutes of gameplay
• The match will continue without the disconnected hero.
viii. In the event of MASSIVE technicality errors, for example 2 or more PCs got disconnected and saved game is unable to be retrieved, the tournament’s marshal process full discretion in the next course of action.
ix. Respective teammates are allowed to use the disconnected heroes but are not be allowed to transfer it items. The items left by disconnected hero may not be sold as well.
xi. Any teams found to have intentionally cause disconnection from the game will be disqualified immediately.
Abuse & Exploitation:
i. Trees Trapping Abuse is not allowed (i.e. intentionally trapping enemies in trees)
ii. Pause Abuse is not allowed. (i.e. intentionally pausing without any valid reason will receive a team warning)
iii. Creep Blocking is not allowed. (i.e. using Chen’s creeps to block the entrance to the base disallowing creeps from moving down the lane completely)
iv. No exploitation of any known, old or new bug discovered during play. Any excuse of such bugs exploitation will not be entertained. Participants are required to update themselves with the latest bug discovery and competing tournament rules.
Sportsmanship Conducts & Bug Exploitation:
i. Games must report to the respective game zone 15 minutes before the match. Participants who are late for more than 15 minutes will be disqualified. No dispute will be entertained.
ii. Abusive behavior towards the organizer / tournament’s marshal / opponent team will result in a warning.
iii. No foul language, gesture, profanity is allowed throughout the course of the tournament. Any such behavior will result in a warning.
Rules Modification
i. The following rules are subject to modification in the following aspects:
Use of most recent patch/version release of each official game within Organizing Committee’s own discretion.
Changes to in-game settings and options necessitated by the use of most recent patch version/release.
Cheat Protection Program release and/or cheat protection functions.
Game settings and/or operations guidelines dictated by differences between online and LAN tournaments.
ii. Teams are responsible to check the rules on a regular basis and prior to every match to ensure they are in complete compliance. Teams must understand the rules listed are guidelines to ensure fair and competitive play and are subject to interpretation by the marshals based on the spirit of the game.
