JessYeo - Silver 21. cityofdevils - Aster grey I have observed that the auto gear transmission of my 408 NA is not as smooth at low speed especially when the traffic is moving very slowly.(noted engine jerkiness and loudness) From my observation, the auto gear switches (from gear 1 to gear 2) at 2600rpm, l prefer to manually switch to gear 2 at 2000 rpm(then switch back to auto) when moving at very slow speed as I find that this really helps in reducing the 'jerkiness' and loudness from the engine and I believed that it also contribute to slight improvement in FC. But then my wife drives in auto all the time and has no complain, so to each his (her) own. Overall, I can say that I'm quite satisfied with the aesthethics and functionality of this car. |

QUOTE(jfcheong @ Sep 12 2012, 08:25 PM) Haha.. trust me, I experienced car dead in the middle of the road. Luckily there's a petrol station nearby, push my car to the station and get a full tank petrol at 62L only. The last time the fuel warning light of my pug came on, I top up around 53 litres.Full tank is 60 liters. The difference which is the reserve (60 - 53) = 7 litres, which is according to the manual. I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that your car's reserve tank is 2 L, my understanding is that the fuel reserve is the actual amount of fuel left in the tank when the fuel warning light comes on, which can be derived by subtracting the amount of fuel top up with 60L(full tank). I stand corrected though. |

Just a quick update, I tested my 408 NA on PLUS highway, max speed 190 kph, quite stable at 150 to 170 kph.
Power is good I'd say. My car's mileage is reaching 3k, It's 4 speed adaptive gearbox seems to be adjusting to the my driving style, the gear transmission feels smooth. |

QUOTE(lowpro @ Sep 17 2012, 12:38 AM) Just a reminder, even after a year and if your car has shift shock, don't panic. It is quite normal for Peugeot gearboxes whether it is an AL4, AT8 or the 6-speed Aisin. Thank you for the reminder, this is my first conti, was driving a toyota previously... I could say that my lion is definitely superior in term of power and stability.Even for camry 2.4 at 150 kph n above, I could feel the steering vibrating, or it could be that I'm biased... for obvious reasons... |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Here's the pic of my 408NA's speedometer at 190kph along PLUS highway a few days ago. No issues in terms of stability but my balls did shrink a bit. It's been a while since I did something crazy like this....pls do not compromise your safety in similar fashion. I wouldn't attempt this a second time. |

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Sep 18 2012, 11:57 AM) For your info, in most cars the maximum tank capacity stated is not really the actual maximum u can fill. The reason for this is because the fuel sensor is located slightly below the top of the tank which usually means u can fill up more than the stated amount. Ive seen this in many cars e.g Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, Merc, etc. So if the manual states 60L, im quite sure u can easily fill 65L or so. In the Kia Optima K5 for instance, the fuel tank capacity is stated as 70L but you can easily fill 77-78L with the maximum (tested) being 82L. Toyota Vios tank capacity is 42L but ive filled up to 47L before but almost empty. This is what the manual says, roughly;I dont know if Peugeot's version of the reserve is different from others but my understanding of reserve would be a separate holding section and not really the fuel left in the main tank. If that was the case then all cars would have reserves. Tank capacity is approximately 60L. When the low fuel warning light comes on, around 7 liters of fuel remains in the tank. If filling your tank to the top, do not persist after third cut off, it could cause the vehicle to malfunction. It doesn't state anything about a separate reserve tank so I assume there is only 1 main tank. Added on September 18, 2012, 8:02 pm QUOTE(SKYjack @ Sep 18 2012, 06:11 PM) It's good you found the car stable at that speed. However due to our uneven roads did you find the car bouncy? I can confirmed that up to 180kph, it was a non issue but have to decelerate almost immediately at 190 kph due to traffic condition. This post has been edited by GenY@MY: Sep 18 2012, 08:02 PM |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Sep 18 2012, 08:21 PM) I think due to NA's soft suspension, uneven roads are not such an issue. The turbo with it's sports tuned suspension gets bouncy above 150kmh.I took mine to 200kmh just for 5 sec, then back to 150 kmh at Lekas hwy once. Same here, back to uncle style driving...Initially I was quite concerned about this, but soon when the electronic speed traps come into action, have to slow down to 110kmh anyway. As this system will be privatised, sure to kena la if you speed! So now trying to get used to uncle style driving....hehehe! However I also received a later issued by PDRM yesterday. Huhhuhu. Hahaha, mine probably on the way too. Just wondering how my wife will react, cos the car is under her name. This post has been edited by GenY@MY: Sep 19 2012, 06:38 PM |

I keep hearing that the 408 has suspension issues and is rather bouncy or whatever but I don't seem to notice it on mine. It does not seem any worse than my dad's camry 2.4 or the vios that I previously owned.
I can't say the same for the 408 turbo since I've not sat in it long enough but my NA certainly seems fine. |
