I know exactly what you mean. I too was very concerned about the THP reliability. Of course no point asking the SA,they will always say those are old issues and have been solved. Even after booking, I kept researching THP issues. There were many problems in the UK forums. I also found out 6 mods were carried out addressing reliability. Reassuring point for me was that 508 owners were not complaining about the engine. Knowing that and Peugeot's 5 year warranty gave me the confidence to get the turbo.

I looked up the net for complaints re the Latin American 408 Sport which is the only car using the same Prince variant as our 408 Turbo. Haven't found any in the Spanish (Argentine) or Portuguese (Brazilian) Web contents.

Yes, we are the first 408 with 1.6t

The first 4081.6T was the South American version.. "408 Sport."

You're one hot mama! I think it's normal if you've been doing a lot of sprinted driving. The adaptive gearbox is responding to your driving style.........enjoy,enjoy rclxms.gif rclxms.gif thumbup.gif !

I enjoyed the ride. My hubby manage to drive at 210km/hour to Melaka last weekend. Can easily overtake Nissan Sylphy 2.0 during speeding 200km/hour with that car.

Found this about driving a turbo...

http://www.articleclick.com/Article/Mainte...rbo-Car/1041479
Partial quotes:

"Everything Oil, healthy turbo engines should be well cooled and lubricated. Use synthetic oil only for your turbo engine because these oils can tackle extreme temperatures. Change oil every 2,500 to 3,000 miles because oil breaks down and gets dirty in time. Always check the oil level and remember to let the oil cool down first before you turn off the engine of your car. Just leave the car idle for a few minutes. It will help you prevent any damage on your engine bearings and oil lines."

and...

"Plan your trips well and know when your next stop is to adjust your throttle. In the last few miles of driving, avoid using full throttle and let the engine start to relax to prevent excessive heat build-up in the turbo when you need to turn the engine off."

I guess that is what it means. I wonder whether there's any indication whether turbo is activated or not.

After driving the 408 for two days... The drive is excellent. Excited to get back into the car.

I have a few questions though:
1. How do you keep the air recycle mode on? I need to turn it on everyone I start.
2. How do you turn on the child lock? Apparently the central lock only prevents anyone outside from opening the door.
3. How do you make the car Bluetooth connect automatically whenever I'm in the car?

Thanks!

How long did you wait. I noticed you listed on the owner list sometime back.

Waited about three weeks. Apparently black colour was not available.

3. Gears changing at fixed 2.2 RPM,not adaptive.
Don't know what was done - unsolved

Front dest guy not very technical, had a hard time even understanding the word adaptive. He showed me the worksheet.i could not understand the scribiling.Didn't want to be a pain in the butt,so left. He did say, you try and see! Will mentioned 2 & 3 again on the next service at Seremban, if I'm here. I think 3. can only be solved by the French engineers, they might be at Belakong.
...
Now that you mentioned it, noted that it's true. The specs sheet specifically mentioned that the gearbox is adaptive. Error in advertising or wrong gearbox?

1) I am looking for this ans also, but seems like it default to off it every time we start our car.
2) The child lock you can look at the rear door, there is a red button, use your key to turn the button to lock or unlock it. There is no auto button for child lock on dash board or driver side which you can find it on 407.
3) My hp Bluetooth connect automatically every time. Not sure abt yours.

1. OIC, thanks. Has anyone found a way around that?
2. The central locking button at the dashboard is good for the times when the goes down while the kids wait in the car. They can lock it really from the passenger seat.
3. My s3 doesn't connect automatically either. I need to open the Bluetooth menu to select Peugeot. Whereas my Innova car kit connects automatically to my phone upon ignition.

If you ferry children, it can be a major issue. There's always the worry that one of the kids might accidentally pull the door lever. At the same time, it's too much of a hassle to get out and open the door for them. Especially at busy school gates.

Wah, don't run till the tank is dry. Cos it could damage the catalytic converter. It could also damage the direct injector cos our turbo uses direct petrol injection.

The FC is expected to be high. It's a turbo. You automatically become heavy footed. Hehe. All that power has to come from SOME WHERE. Furthermore, it's a heavy car, weighing more than 1.4 tons in kerb weight.

I thought I'd seen the kerb weight some where before but now I can't find it. Here's an Indonesian car website showing the 4081.6T weight as 1485 kg. Looks like they're going to launch it too.

That was the info from Indonesian website on their new 4081.6T. As I mentioned, I had seen the weight before but I could not find it when I wanted to look for it again. Actually, the point is that it's a weighty car.
