QUOTE(cityofdevils @ Sep 3 2012, 11:26 AM) Migrated from a 2004 1.8G Altis to a 408T for the last one month. You can sort out the problems anytime, don't have to wait for 1st inspection. Rattling on left rear door seems common, most of us had it. Got mine sorted out. Slight pull to the left is still there, even after SC visit.Boy what a joy to drive! Then again a few issues for a new car: 1. Rattling sound coming from left rear side when drive over small repetitive undulations. Dunno is it the door? 2. The engine does sound harsher 3. Road and environment noise penetrates the cabin quite easily But then again, the drive experience and the ride quality... AWESOME!!! As for 2 & 3, it's normal for you to feel that since your last ride was Altis. The difference is the turbo engine does start to roar when pushed. You have unleashed the lion, hehehe, enjoy! Toyota engines are known for their quietness, but boring torque! You will certainly feel environment irregularities more than you felt in the Altis. The 408t comes with sports tuned suspension. The stiff chassis provides superb handling as you have already discovered. The downside is that you tend to feel road irregularities a bit more! FYI, I just test drove the VW Jetta. 408t handling is at par if not even and edge better! Yes truly, awesome! This post has been edited by SKYjack: Sep 3 2012, 05:01 PM |

QUOTE(jessyeo @ Sep 3 2012, 10:04 AM) I realize my car hit 5.5k rpm in order to change to next gear when I over taking other car. If not mistaken, it should be from gear 2 to 3. Its just normal D mode and is that normal? You're one hot mama! I think it's normal if you've been doing a lot of sprinted driving. The adaptive gearbox is responding to your driving style.........enjoy,enjoy Added on September 3, 2012, 5:19 pm QUOTE(ken_twh @ Sep 3 2012, 05:02 PM) I don't have any experience on this bro. My hubby manage to drive at 210km/hour to Melaka last weekend. Can easily overtake Nissan Sylphy 2.0 during speeding 200km/hour with that car. |

The fan will still functioning after engine is turned off, to cool down the engine.
Normal I will wait for around 2 second before I start my engine. Just get used to it only, wonder this help on the engine checking or not. And Peugeot SA told me that no need to turn off the air con before turn off the engine, as u can notice that the air con is off while u start your engine, and automatic on after a 2 second. |

Found this about driving a turbo...
http://www.articleclick.com/Article/Mainte...rbo-Car/1041479 Partial quotes: "Everything Oil, healthy turbo engines should be well cooled and lubricated. Use synthetic oil only for your turbo engine because these oils can tackle extreme temperatures. Change oil every 2,500 to 3,000 miles because oil breaks down and gets dirty in time. Always check the oil level and remember to let the oil cool down first before you turn off the engine of your car. Just leave the car idle for a few minutes. It will help you prevent any damage on your engine bearings and oil lines." and... "Plan your trips well and know when your next stop is to adjust your throttle. In the last few miles of driving, avoid using full throttle and let the engine start to relax to prevent excessive heat build-up in the turbo when you need to turn the engine off." |

Which mean at the last few miles of the journey, we should tender to the engine? We shouldn't rev too much on the engine while near to the end of the journey?

I guess that is what it means. I wonder whether there's any indication whether turbo is activated or not.

One more thing. Everytime start the engine need to wait until the warning light "STOP!!" went off??.. because my SA told me need to wait the light off before start the car engine. someone can explain?? thx. Turbos crankup quite a fair bit of heat in operation. Many ways of cooling depending on requirement and cost efficiency. On cars, comonly a timer is added to run the engine at idle for a few minutes, after ignition off. This is the old system. No timer on the 408t,cooling achieved by more efficient system which does not need engine operation, thus saving fuel.So far no have anything to complain, just 1 important thing i need to COMPLAIN is the handling is SUPERB. On our Pug the turbo is a little compressor that rotates at phnominal speed. The faster it runs the more the heat generated. Every time you step on the padle for lagi 'syoik',the faster it spins, more the heat generated. Many of you are concerned about this generated heat, rightly so! A combination of heat exchangers, motor assisted turbofan and sensors, calm our lion down. Heat exchanger is a set of pipes stuck together through which the hot oil is routed. When the pipes are exposed to air, heat dissipates. Air is blown on the pipes by a fan run by exhaust gases or by battery,in the case of ignition off. This is the reason for the fan to run a while after ignition off. Running period will depend on level of heat. Sensors switch off the fan when threshold temperatures are reached. This of course is a very simplified explanation for easy understanding, there is a lot more to it! So don't worry guys, our lion is well cooled. Don't need to run it at idle before shut down. Hope this helps! If you still feel the need to idle run before shut down, no harm! This post has been edited by SKYjack: Sep 5 2012, 04:13 PM |
